You can run over fences with a car but a way to properly remove sections of chain link fence without a car would be nice.

Standalone release going to lead to overloaded hive/crashed hive?
PracticalTactical replied to finkone's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
And thats why you never buy an MMO on launch! -
Make sure you are loud enough to be heard by others. I find most people can be friendly if they hear your voice tone that you are indeed a friendly fellow and want to be buddies. Some people will just shoot you even if you tell them you will take them to your secret camp or give them a heli, they are just d bags. When you use voice wait for a response as some people type. Also, make sure your mic actually works properly so people can hear you or else it will look to them like some guy staring at them with a gun pointing in their general direction.

A loudspeaker would be cool where it would amplify your direct chat to high levels so people within 300 meter radius could hear your direct. Could offer so many funny and interesting possibilities. Hover over Cherno while singing a song through the loudspeaker anyone?

Today i met the stupidest squad
PracticalTactical replied to krihelion's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Shooting players far out of their range with semi automatic .50 cal sniper rifles. Well done! You sure are expert bandit sniperinos! Gee, I wish I could be like you guys and engage players from ranges that there is no way they could fight back. Sure is pro bandit skills there. I mean, if I were to coordinate an ambush with pistols and hatchets while they funnel through a mountain pass with thick trees, while tracking them silently for several kilometres and taking out several members of their team that fell behind the group silently, I would be nowhere near as pro as you guys with your big guns and big penises! -
Uhhh I won't bring an MK48 and friends with high tier assault rifles and bandit skins, I swear.

Something odd happens to me allot when I go to or around green mountain. This one time I was in the town below and I was asking on side "who is at Green Mountain?" and a person replied "We are". No big deal right? Just don't go up and finish looting the town then depart the other way into the woods and everything will be OK I thought. Wrong. Soon I see light flickering in the treeline, I think its a player so I run into town and hide in one of those small industrial sheds. I hear footsteps, dozens of them (definately not zombies) and the light from flashlights is peeping trough the door and around the fence. I look out, see 12 players all creeping down from the mountain towards the town. I promptly run for my freaking life and make it out before they get a bead on me. Do not go there unless you are looking for a fight or for a scare. I got both and have not gone back there since.

M9SD is only worth it if you have ammo for it. Its weak and innacurate, but does not make much noise so I suppose it is a trade off. If I were to take a secondary, a PDW, G17 or revolver would be the best choice. PDW and G17 can use PDW mags, G17 mags, M9 mags and the SD counterparts (I think) so ammo is always available. Revolvers do good dammage and are accurate, plus the ammo for them is common. The most overlooked secondary is the Makarov which is actually a very good gun because its small, ammo is everywhere and the sights on it are quite good when in close quarters, which is where you would be using a pistol and not using one any more than say 50 meters.

Technicals already are in ARMA, I have suggested adding them before but got the 'this is DayZ and if you like machine guns and anything remotely turreted, your opinion is stupid' response. I think adding in one with a PK or DShK would be a great idea, although I would be more in favour of the PK. Some way to identify your people at short, visual range would be a good idea since individuals in real life can identify a friend by various features such as body type, clothing, face, eye colour. But in DayZ there is very limited range of faces/clothing and only one body type which makes everyone look the same, so some indicator of friendly within 25 meters would be OK. Something like a small green dot above their head when scrolled over or something.

Tactic Help: How to Takedown Four Survivors?
PracticalTactical replied to escoffiersghost's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If I were you I would get them into a sticky situation with zombies. Perposefully aggro large amounts of zombies and while they are being swarmed and shooting zombies, step back and when they are soon to reload pop one of em. Say "sorry I missed the zombie and hit you" and watch him die as the others get swarmed trying to save him. Once everyone is all around the dying fellow trying to save him, pop dat 40mm HE round in der then finish off with your M16. Chances are you will knock a few out with the 40mm, maybe even kill one or two. But you need to follow through quickly before they know what hit em. Empty the clip into the crowd then reload. If someone is still alive, finish him. Have fun with your new loot. -
Lee Enfield or AKM. Best guns in the game IMHO

Must be aliens.

I recall in the very early days of DayZ reading something about the storyline and it revolved around some dumb shit like SAS coming to save Russia and failing to save them or something. I do not think thats how it is now and was just a placeholder. DayZ does have a story but you have to make it yourself! You are the story in the game and thats what makes it interesting! In my opinion I like to think that Chernarus was in a civil war and some terrorist/government person released a top secret virus that turned most people into zombies!

Gas mask and NBC suit would be cool if they added poisonous fumes or toxic areas. I think flak jackets or body armour of some kind would be neat as a rare drop, maybe also a military helmet as a rare drop (could stop small cal bullets and maybe have a % chance of stopping higher cal bullets depending on velocity and bullet calibre). Some kind of additional footwear would be neat such as light footwear that would reduce noise but decrease foot protection would be neat I suppose.
-
A camping stove would be a great idea! A camping stove and white gas canisters or butane! More recipies for cooking would be neat aswell, like finding rice or maybe being able to cook your beans for some small benefit (someone suggested that in a forum topic a little bit ago).

What happes if i hit zombies/players with cars
PracticalTactical replied to OrlandoKiller's topic in New Player Discussion
They die or break legs depending on speed and velocity. Good way to clear zombies for your friends to loot area is to run them over! No ammo waste or anything. They do not count to your kill count and you should be carefull not to ram into anything when hitting zombies. -
I played the Alpha and pre Beta back in the day. We used Ventrillo when we were playing and it worked fine. Might have changed since then though, because it was a long time ago.

RPG-7 and M79 Grenade Launcher
PracticalTactical replied to Draco122's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like this idea. The M79 should be added and if not the M79 then something similar made in some eastern bloc country. It would be a good balance because it only shoots one 40mm grenade at a time and would be usefull due to there being HE, smoke and flare projectiles enabling it to be an offensive weapon or used to light or smoke the way. The RPG is also a good idea and if it were added allong with the M79 then the addition of some lightly armoured vehicles (BTR 40 or something) could happen because there would be a weapons that could take it out. RPG's would have to be rare and have a HEAT projectile that could be found at military sites. The HEAT projectile could be used against both infantry and vehicle targets, which would be better than having several different types of charges which would add to the loot table allot and be confusing to organize. -
yay for christmas loot! A santa hat plz!

What are some common camp spots
PracticalTactical replied to soap167's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Black Lake area, northern border, western border, Skalka, Grozovoy Pass (there is a hill close to the debug plains that I have found plenty of camps in), Bashnya area (nort of NWAF), Prud area (north of Stary), Pobeda Dam. I always find something if I go up the western woodlands from kemenka.
