Loving the clothes in the Standalone

This is going to form a new kind of discrimination in DayZ....shoe discrimination.

What is a "Bambi" in DayZ?

Bambi's do not exist in the zombie apocalypse. Anyone is a legit target and everyone should know that. If I need a bandage and you just appeared on the beach....well you are going to be one dead survivor. If I have excess and need a partner.....its your lucky day.

    DayZ Development Twitter

Yeah I find it odd aswell. Kind of losing interest in the DayZ experience to be honest. Come on guys, give us a good update with a screenshot. We love your game and understand about work load, but it would be great to see what might be new/what you are up to.
  7. One of the best fights I have won involved stealing a military offroad from a large group with a helicopter who were looting the seraja military base in Namalsk. I had killed one bandit and gravely wounded another at Object A2 before coming up to the base, so I was already hyped up on adrenaline. The heli was hovering about 75 meters above the base as a lookout for the miltiple players looting the base. I decided to cause a distraction so, with my RPK I fired off 30 rounds into the helicopter spooking the driver into making a quick getaway. Foot mobiles approached the sound where I shot from so I looped around the base and hid under the heli pad. When the heli came back, landed and people were loading loot in I pooped a smoke to attract zombies and threw two frags at the group of players. 3 went down, 2 killed. But there were 4 others still alive! I looked around for an escape and saw their sparkling military offroad, jumped into the drivers seat and sped away while their bullets angrilly smacked against the metal frame.

A not-announcement announcement for the forums!

Take until next year, I don't care. Just make it good and awesome and not shit like WarZ. Oh yeah, and some updates would be nice once in awhile, say on a regular monthly or bi monthly basis? Maybe even screenshots or a bit of video to drool over? Other than that, don't get too stressed out so you do not have a total burn out or anything mr. rocket and team. I think you do fantastic job and love what you put out so it will be awesome to me, because you fellas do quality work!

    Endgame: Extraction

I like the idea, but I think it could be done differently. I think having an endgame to work towards would be allot more rewarding than to simply die when you achieved all you had to achieve. Maybe not one where you ride off into the sunset, but maybe a particular puzzle you have to solve and the screen fades out, you see credits and then respawn on the beach? Dunno. Might be neat, maybe DayZ is not the kind of game for that though.

The Clumsy Bandito By DayZ forum member PracticalTactical Once upon a time there was a group of six banditos. They were a fearsome bunch that ruled over the sky with their helicopter and epic gear like a dragon. It was the perfect evening and they had been having great success in tracking down survivors and mowing them down with 7.62x51mm bullets at 800 rounds per minute from the helicopters m240 machine guns. Nothing could stop them and when someone dared try they met a swift end at the hands of the banditos. Then one night, it all changed... It was pitch black at night. The banditos were all geared up and playing heli assault on towns and airfields. During their patrol allong the coastline, they came across some loot and a broken van parked on the road. A mighty and noble bandito by the name of Stings2pee who was feared by all bandits and survivors alike suggested we land and secure the area to search this pile of loot. We did as he suggested as he was by far the most elite and experienced bandito of the group. As the heli landed about 55 meters away from the loot and broken van, all six banditos got out and secured the area tactically, quickly dispatching another bandit that was observing from the treeline. Once the area was secure, the six banditos moved up to the loot pile and started to scrounge it for something of use. One of the bandits chimed up "Hey fellas, check out what I found". As the other bandits moved closer to observe the find, they were in awe of what they had found; The magical and very rare piece of kit called satchel charges. After being in awe that such awesome loots were found by the super, amazing, extreme and elite banditos, they proceeded to test some of these charges on a few large trees allong the side of the highway. They were quite effective and after watching two or three of the charges go off and seeing the amazing damage they caused, the banditos all knew that they had found the holy grail of destructive power and started to imagine all the fantastic traps and ambushes they were going to pull off with all of their elite gear and these new amazing explosives. It was a grand find indeed. The banditos had a successful journey. The six little banditos had lorded over an entire server like they were in charge and smited anyone who stood to challenge their power. They had thought they were invincible, that their superior tactics, vehicles and weaponry would prevail against any foe and had spent many, many days working towards acquiring the gear that they so dearly valued. They had been through hell and back again to become the top dogs, and they basked in the glory of being so fantastic. Then, in one split second it all changed. After the loot was observed, tested, fondled and loved the six banditos decided it was time to load up and continue with the patrol of the coastline. It was at this time that a very clumsy little bandito named Guanjyn took it upon himself to dutifully load the chopper with all of these fantastic new toys they had found. He had never seen nor tried to use a satchel charge before and did not know exactly how they worked and how to properly use them, but he was going to try to put them into the heli anyways. He went up to the helichopper and tried to open the gear menu but instead scrolled down to "place satchel". After wondering what had happened, he brushed it off as just one of the many funny little glitches that are in DayZ and proceeded to load the heli with all the goodness. When he walked back to get more, he said over mumble to the other elite and very well equiped banditos "Hey guys, I am getting this glitch that says touch off 1 bombs on my scroll menu". Everyone else was too busy observing and chatting about the elite loot that we had found like uber pro bandits and ignored what was said. Guanjyn the wonderfull, clumsy bandito decided to keep loading the various guns, munitions, clothing and explosives into the helichopper. After dropping off his second load, he went back for a third. By this time the other five banditos had crawled inside the helichopper and had started the engine, ready to make a quick get away incase they were spotted. Guanjyn the clumsy bandito was last like he always was and instead of simply getting into the chopper he figured he had to get the last bit of loot. So he went back to the pile and proceeded to scroll down to gear. In all his wisdom he scrolled down past gear to the option "Touch off 1 bomb" ). Being Guanjyn he thought he had not even used any of the bombs and thought that it was, once agian just a little glitch so he pressed it. *BOOOM!!* The helicopter exploded in a fireball and flung the five other banditos as far as 100 meters away! The once unchallenged and feared banditos were defeated not by bullets, zombies, other bandits or survivors, but by the clumsy nature of Guanjyn and the ignorance of their own ways. If only Guanjyn had been more aware and if only the other banditos had listened to what Guanjyn was saying instead of gloating and bragging about what feared and well equiped banditos they were they would still be alive, terrorizing the server and destroying all who would dare oppose them and not laying there around a burning hulk with broken bones, bleeding out and gasping for their last breaths. The moral of the story is; Do not let your head get too high in the clouds, be carefull with satchel charges and always, always listen to what other members of your group are saying, for it could be gravely important that you do hear it.

  12. FAMAS would be just another western military assault rifle to add to an eastern european setting. Seriously guys, the more western assault rifles that are added the less realistic the game becomes. What I suggest? Civilian weaponry like over under shotguns, bolt action rifles, single shot rifles, shotgun rifle combos, handguns. I also suggest using eastern weaponry like AK varients, SKS, RPD, RPG, RPK, DShK, Dragunov sniper rifles etc. If anything military weapons with amazing optics, silencers and grenade launchers shouldn't be common at all. They should be extremely rare and civilian and lower tech military armaments (basic AK's) should be more common. Infact there should be advantages of using a double barrel shotgun and a pistol to using a freaking RPK machine gun like for the fact an RPK would be heavy, large, loud and would need parts like barrels replaced after continuous firing whereas a double barrel shotgun and pistol would be a better combo due to reliability, ease of use, weight and ammo availability. Come on guys, more eastern bloc civilian weaponry, less military stuff. If you want to have a m16 w/203 and acog scope when you spawn go play ARMA.

I think they said weapon customization would be in standalone. I sure hope so, because sometimes I like to just use Iron sights and sometimes a scope is better so having the ability to add/remove a scope, silencer or a red dot sight would be usefull. It could also add to the loot table and decrease the value of some guns but increase the value of finding that ultra rare optic that everyone wants!
  14. You could try upgrading that GPU of yours to a more gaming friendly model. Set video memory to high, shadows to low and AA either off or very low. And if you want to, try turning off post processing effects.

What Recording Software should I use?

FRAPS I have version from 2010 that I paid no money for! Was it stolen? You will never know! ;)

    Survival Driving

This in ARMA would add so much depth and realism! You could then add an entire new class of vehicles which would be mobile revovery/repair teams that would drive in and use a tow cable to pull out the stuck truck then would repair it on the side of the road so it could rejoin the convoy! Sadly, this looks like it is pretty advanced stuff and might be a few years off yet to be implemented into a game like ARMA.

Global Age verification system for servers

New studies show that 88% of skiddies use mommies credit card so it would show up as them being over that age but in reality they are well below it.

So...just curious but do you guys actually associate with the Grenadier Guards in any way?

    Highway banditry?

Some of the newer maps (AKA not Chernarus, Lingor or Namalsk) I find are allot more vehicle friendly with freeways and allot of large, paved roads. Most servers I have been on usually have a drastically increased number of vehicles so staking out at a choke point (like the bridge on Taviana) a vehicle will eventually approach wanting to get through this choke point. It may take anywhere from 2 mins to upwards of an hour, but it can be done and I have done it to great effect. Another good way of getting vehicles or just stopping people to rob them (vehicle or not) is to use a baiting technique. Sometimes a broken down old gaz with a missing wheel conveniently placed in the middle of the road is just too tempting for other vehicle owning survivors and they stop, get out and walk over to the gaz to check the inventory. Or if you have no vehicle to bait with you can use dead bodies, map markers, flares or even just a very visible and bright pile of loots (has to be bright and obvious as to be easily seen by a passing car or survivor). Once target has taken the bait, use your tiger ninja powers and shoot his leggies out. Yay! You get a car and a whole bunch of "please don't kill me" whines.

    Thunder storm explosion hack?

Its the Namalsk EVR stuff. Basically you hear a bunch of lightning and shallow booms in the distance and orange screen is soon to follow. It was added in one or two Namalsk updates ago allong with bloodsuckers (invisible monsters that stalk you and try to rip you in two, very hard to kill). I think if you get into a good, solid building the effects will be minimal, although I have still passed out and taken serious damage even when inside buildings.

    Wtf is Seren Nation?
  23. PracticalTactical

    Humanity??

Yes it is although I have seen some private hives with debug monitor but those are few and far between. Best way to know humanity is to simply look at yourself and see if you have a bandit, survivor or hero skin.

Mark walls with a paint spray

I would love this. I could see if you were able to free hand draw your own stuff that it could be abused, however if spray paint was rare enough it could work OK. If it were common, having a good set of spray textures to use would be nice (No bandits allowed, arrows, skull and crossbones, RIP *players name* etc) much like how it would work in a source engine game (without the custom sprays of pornography).

    RE: ARMA 2 FREE

Yeah pretty much. Just do the basic training missions and play around in armoury for awhile. Or find a noob friendly domination server and play there for a bit to learn controls and how to fly a helicopter! Oh wait, does free have armoury? I do not remember.
