Are KOS kiddies cowardly and stoopid?

Highway robbery kicks ass in DayZ. Its just so damn hard to pull it off without some little cockroach disconnecting as soon as you have him subdued. As a somewhat friendly bandit, I do not like to KOS people. Its boring and not very challenging to do. DayZ needs a variety of ways to incapacitate someone without shooting them in the legs, like sneaking up behind them and pinning them to the ground or something. The game also needs to be allot harsher on people who ctrl+shift+escape and close DayZ that way. If these issues are addressed then there will be less KOS people and more creative banditry.

    DayZ MMO

At least give more than just "Not possible". Anything is possible and the world is a magical land of possibility so please, open your mind.

6 months and a glock icon later...

DayZ is boring. I quit playing the mod on a regular basis months ago. Updates on standalone progress is pretty minimal and my faith in DayZ has seriously waned. A video of actual gameplay might be nice.
  5. DrGonzo enjoys playing DayZ under the influence of lsd which usually compounds into not being able to stay on a set path and admiring the beauty of the talking elephant thats riding a bike allong the road to Electro. He usually ends up lost in the wilderness by the time his high has worn down and often finds himself perplexed as to how he awoke in a pool of his own vomit.

    Taviana, how good is it??

No it depends on the map aswell. High concentrations of people spawning in close to one large city and barracks are bound to cause problems. Some people just sit there and kill you as you walk up the massive hill from the beach where you spawn.

Y u no like having nice weapon?

I would like to see more setting appropriate weaponry. Chernarus is eastern bloc, very rural with lots of small towns and villages. Even the "cities" are pretty small by all standards. We need to see more single/double barrel shotgun varients, more pump action shotguns, bolt action rifles without scopes, more pistols and AK varients. I am OK with military arms as long as they fit the setting and are not found at every corner of the map. Military rifles with complex optics/silencers should be very, very uncommon but military type AK's with no fancy optics or just a single GP-25 grenade launcher should be more commonly found. All in all more civilian weaponry is needed. I like to use winchesters and enfields, but everyone else wants to use goddamn m4 holos and AS50s. AS50s and M107s should be taken out entirely and replaced by either an RPG or some sort of similar Russian built anti material rifle.

Death in DayZ and possible solution

Burying dead people? What kind of survivor of the apocalypse has time to sit down, dig a hole and bury some guy they just shot. I could see it if they were a friend or were stinking up the place..but come on. Besides, I like the look of dead bodies so I leave all my kills where they fell. It would make more sense to have a feature where you could move dead bodies around and actually "hide" them in bushes or something instead of them just vanishing into the ground. I suggested something a long, long time ago allong these lines. its here.
  9. I want to take a bus and add curtains, a lowerable deck on one side, a tarp over that deck for sun protection, a bed inside the bus and basically have a mobile home. I could drive it anywhere I please and live anywhere I please. It would be the ideal type of home in the zombie apocalypse because both bandits and zombies move around (hoping for moving swarms of Z's) and you need to change your location if they find you. You could park it near a valuable loot spawn and stay there for a few days while collecting loot and storing it in the bus. When El Bandito comes around all you have to do is raise the deck, get in and drive off before he makes it close enough to open fire. Perfect home. Another option would be the addition of steel plating on the sides and covering the wheel wells to better protect against high caliber bullets and to place a sunroof with optional mounted machinegun to have a way to defend while you are inside the bus be it moving or parked.

    Taviana, how good is it??

I like the map quite a bit. The endless fields followed by forrest is quite eye catching. Not big on PvP myself and I find that people who play Taviana are more inclined to shoot you on sight than they would in Chernarus. Can't tell you how many times I try to play the friendly survivor only to get shot by some guy with an AK-74 in Byelov. Only ever met two friendly players on that map. Lots of urban areas aswell which is good for those players who like to shoot it out in the concrete jungle.

[Idea] Trains bring them back into gaming!

Trains would be neat but currently there is not enough railroad to be of use. If it went all the way around the map and had several spir lines going into the middle it would be OK. I could totally see some mad max esque train chases going on.

    Musket

Muzzleloading firearms are still used and produced believe it or not. I would not mind one of these in DayZ. I could see muzzleloading rifles being used in Chernarus by hunters and farmers so i think it would be a good idea to add one in...just not some old, 250 year old musket but rather a modern built muzzleloader which could actually have some accuracy and be usefull to the user. Single shot, powerfull and accurate to around 120 meters but can still drop you (although quite less accurately) at longer ranges. It would be a weapon that you would have to train with allot to master its effectiveness at further distances.

    Dayz: Your Code of Conduct

    1. Find a hatchet 2. Find a gun 3. Hide in bush and wait for unsuspecting traveller to walk by. 4. Put gun to travellers head. Tell him to get on ground. Take his stuff. If he resists he gets shot. 5. When excess of gear is achieved, return the goodness of loot to the newspawns.

    DayZ Standalone Framerates

I run a gtx 280 and an old AMD quad core. I can get 30-100 frames in forrests, farmland, coast and small towns but when it comes to large towns/cities my fps drops to sometimes below 20 which is unplayable for me. I hope the standalone is better optimized for guys like me who use older systems that should still be able to play ARMA/OA at medium or high settings. These issues only happen on high pop servers. Low pop servers (under 20) I can get a solid 25 fps in Electro!

    C4

It would be cool if we could have some kind of homemade bomb in DayZ. Its not like C4 and TNT is just laying about. But fertilizer is.... IED plz.

Being a Lone wolf, you should consider it.

The entire point of DayZ is to scavenge for loot and survive. If you have everything in excess, what fun is that? The fun part of DayZ is just making it by surviving be it by yourself or with others. When I first got into DayZ I use to play alone or with one other friend (I started when it first came about). After a month our "pair" grew to four, five, six and up to something around twenty at its peak. It was allot of fun having groups of 10 survivors doing tactical maneuvers around towns to get loot or hunt a player. We had stockpiled more than one of every weapon in the game (with ammo), eight vehicles, tents, meat, clothing...everything. We were all so pleased when we reached this point and we took many screenshots. Eventually we realized that we had achieved "survival" and infact were thriving. Zombies no longer became a threat, other players were but a fart in the wind, food and medical supplies were abundant, map was explored and vehicles had been drivin by all. It no longer became DayZ but rather a game of hunt the guy in balota every single day. The group now consists of about 4 people, and I am liking it allot. Long story short, DayZ is fun with big groups but the survival element goes away rather quickly with a massive group of players all hunting for loots. Its best played either by yourself or with a small group of 1-4 people. (also allot more gratifying when you take out a group of 10 unorganized bandits with only yourself or you and a friend or two)

Does sidechat ruin anyone elses game?

Sidechat is OK. Its when people have entire conversations over it is when it gets lame.

    Manual cars and bikes

I can drive stick shift, so absolutely! Everyone should drive stick shift and not knowing how to do so in DayZ would limit your ability to survive.

    No deoderant in the apocalypse.

My least favourite part about Dayz is the Zombies.

I don't like them much either. In terms of zombies there are better mods out there for ARMA already. In terms of PvP and the survival feeling of DayZ (not to mention the popularity) there is nothing better (that I know of). I am extremely fond of the whole "surviving when society has collapsed" aspect of DayZ. I am also very fond of the bandit, survivor and hero divisions and the fact that you do not know if the person you just spotted is friendly and there would be nothing stopping him/her from killing you even if he is a survivor or hero. Its all about these decisions of going up to that guy with the AKM and trying to make friendly contact, or stalking said guy through the brushes and towns until you have found a pasture to make your kill. Its all about needing food, water and supplies. Its all about trying to fix a vehicle or gather a group to survive with you. These are what makes DayZ so special, not the zombies. The aspects of DayZ that need to be improved are the survival aspects. Things like gathering food, water and shelter should be paramount and be difficult to find and even more difficult to gather enough to thrive in. I would love it if cans of beans were so damn rare that when you found one you are absolutely joyous and proud because you found something that is so rare and needed for survival!

My friend, you are far from alone. You have my hatred of the walking dead!

    Alan Wake(ish) door opening.

I agree, the door system needs to be completely redone. Its absolute garbage the way it is right now and I like what you suggest. Reminds me of Splinter Cell with the stealthy door opening and smashing in knocking the guy standing at the door on the other side unoncious.

    "Psychosis" bar for Bandits

Lol. Everyone should have a psychosis bar. Is psychosis just for bandits? No. It can happen to anyone from a variety of reasons. I would support something like this if it were for everyone and have maybe certain levels and types of deeds that cause psychosis for different players...idk.

Where will you take a dump in the Standalone?

Going to go around with my friends, hold people at gunpoint, make them go prone, shit all over them, jack their stuff and leave.
