I would suggest a BTR-40 because it has wheels and the driver/passengers are somewhat exposed which would enable people without massive amounts of heavy machineguns or RPG's to stop the vehicle. It could still stand up to allot of stuff though, completely bulletproof for small arms. You just need to aim at the open areas in order to kill the driver. Also, the wheels although very durable can be shot out if enough lead is put into them. The BTR-40 is actually already in the game aswell!

I remember what the mod is based off of. I also dare to dream about a better mod and a better standalone. I was however pointing more towards the standalone with my suggestions because at this time the mod has so many issues this should not even be thought of before those issues are addressed.

I think one of the major drawbacks of DayZ at this time is the lack of melee combat. If you do not have a gun or a hatchet you have absolutely no way of defending yourself whatsoever which is rather unrealistic. Being able to use your fists and do sneak attacks on individuals from behind or simply having a massive fist fight to the death would be pretty epic. Using that hunting knife for a quick and silent kill would be a great addition aswell; got a sniper on that rooftop? Sneak up behind that fool and slit his throat silently like nothing ever happened! No zombie aggros, no players hearing gunshots, no muzzleflash, no smoke, no fuss. Drag the body into the brush (please add "drag body" in standalone) and carry on with your group to loot the town. Also, being able to knock someone out with your fists or the butt of a hatchet, gun or blunt object would be a great way to subdue someone without killing them.

It would be like Zombie Panic Source and I would try to set my team up to get eaten by me the infected and soon to be zombie. Morals change when you realize you have been bitten.

I could see this working if servers were a large amount of people but I think it would get pretty sparse pretty fast due to how fast people die. Half of your posts are "Hello there, Rgds, 'Lok". Why bother? -

Considering some countries censor games like Left 4 Dead I can only imagine what they would do to a game like DayZ that has child zombies. Personally I am OK with it and think that it would only be realistic that in a zombie apocalypse every type of human would become a zombie and not just adults. But considering how the media sensationalizes things completely out of proportion I am not sure it is a good idea. I can already see stupid, stupid, stupid people like Nancy Grace and whatnot droning on for hours and days about "child killing survival simulator" and how it relates to things like the Sandy Hook shootings for example. -
I like the idea of seeing propper stages of decomposition for dead players and bloating is part of the break down of the human body. It would add so much more depth to the game, think coming across a skeleton with just a bit of flesh left on him and a few scrubbings of clothing. You could investigate the corpse and check for bullet holes, broken bones, stab wounds, impact trauma etc. Seeing a skeleton or a badly decomposed corpse would mean that the person who lay before you died a long time ago and that the threat of whoever or whatever killed him may very likely be long gone aswell. Besides, it just seems real in a zombie apocalypse to find bloated, badly decomposed, unburied humans lying on the road and in the woods as a testimate to the insane difficulty of survival. Don't know about the exploding part though, that sounds a bit unrealistic. I do agree that there should be a very high risk of disease and I think adding a few maggots crawling around the body would look good.

I love the idea of hostile animals like dogs, wolves and bears. Thet need to be passive hostile though, because generally speaking they are not looking for humans to eat (unless it is dire, dire situations) but rather things like rabbit, deer and fish (for bears they loves them fishes). Feral packs of dogs would probably be the most hostile and would actively seek you to kill you in my opinion. -

I don't like to watch people play games for hours on end unless its an entirely new game that I have never heard of and am thinking of buying. Make videos that are interesting and something unique. Things like extremely well planned ambushes and raids are something I personally think is interesting. Things like 45 mins of walking from Cherno to NWAF with maybe 2 mins of actual combat I find very, very boring. Do videos of pranks like that paycer fellow did, those are worth watching! There are thousands of commentaries and endless gameplay of DayZ and the other popular games already out there and you should do something that makes you stand out from the rest. -
The crossbow is terrible. I have killed two people with it and one was AFK. If they made it so you could have a quiver and that you could aim it properly then it might be an OK weapon.

Bicycles are best vehicle in game (but they cant store anything). If you have a group of people vehicles are very usefull, but are noisy and an easy target for someone to take pot shots at. I find the best way to avoid your position being given away while you have a vehicle is to hide it around 300 meters away from the area you plan to loot then move in by foot. Or another thing that I find is also effective is simply stepping on the gas and zooming through town! Chances are if there is a player there you will suprise him/her and they will take several rapid and inaccurate shots at your vehicle (most probably will miss) thereby giving away their position and telling you what weapon they are using. I have hidden cars for weeks on end without anyone finding them but those days are long gone now (back in the days without skiddies and glitchy private hives that reset every 3 hours).

Out of the two I prefer the M16 for some reason. I think its because I like a full rifle and the range is better on the m16. Semi is all you need anyways.

ARMA 2 is not dead. You are just ignorant. If you want all this nice ass gear and stuff easily available go play Combined Ops on a domination server or something. -
Thats the thing, its left to the players to figure it out. It does not have to be a real bomb recipe to the exact gram and I think if players could play with it and figure out what makes the biggest explosion through testing and trials it could add a whole new element to the game. Think of it...players putting IED's in piles of trash on the side of a road then detonating it when a convoy of survivors drives over it. Already placed minefields are a good idea and has allot of merit but figuring out how to make your own explosives can be even more fun for the exploratory player! DayZ is not suppose to be an easy "pick up and play" game...its a hardcore survival game. Its all about taking risks and getting that reward!

You can build homemade mines and IED's if you have the know how. I do not see why nobody would in the apocalypse I think that with all the random junk and fertilizer and whatnot lying about someone would create a mine or IED to protect something or somesuch. It should be a craftable item though, unless its something like a claymore.
