Gas mask and NBC suit would be cool if they added poisonous fumes or toxic areas. I think flak jackets or body armour of some kind would be neat as a rare drop, maybe also a military helmet as a rare drop (could stop small cal bullets and maybe have a % chance of stopping higher cal bullets depending on velocity and bullet calibre). Some kind of additional footwear would be neat such as light footwear that would reduce noise but decrease foot protection would be neat I suppose.

A camping stove would be a great idea! A camping stove and white gas canisters or butane! More recipies for cooking would be neat aswell, like finding rice or maybe being able to cook your beans for some small benefit (someone suggested that in a forum topic a little bit ago).

What happes if i hit zombies/players with cars
PracticalTactical replied to OrlandoKiller's topic in New Player Discussion
They die or break legs depending on speed and velocity. Good way to clear zombies for your friends to loot area is to run them over! No ammo waste or anything. They do not count to your kill count and you should be carefull not to ram into anything when hitting zombies. -
I played the Alpha and pre Beta back in the day. We used Ventrillo when we were playing and it worked fine. Might have changed since then though, because it was a long time ago.

RPG-7 and M79 Grenade Launcher
PracticalTactical replied to Draco122's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like this idea. The M79 should be added and if not the M79 then something similar made in some eastern bloc country. It would be a good balance because it only shoots one 40mm grenade at a time and would be usefull due to there being HE, smoke and flare projectiles enabling it to be an offensive weapon or used to light or smoke the way. The RPG is also a good idea and if it were added allong with the M79 then the addition of some lightly armoured vehicles (BTR 40 or something) could happen because there would be a weapons that could take it out. RPG's would have to be rare and have a HEAT projectile that could be found at military sites. The HEAT projectile could be used against both infantry and vehicle targets, which would be better than having several different types of charges which would add to the loot table allot and be confusing to organize. -
yay for christmas loot! A santa hat plz!

What are some common camp spots
PracticalTactical replied to soap167's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Black Lake area, northern border, western border, Skalka, Grozovoy Pass (there is a hill close to the debug plains that I have found plenty of camps in), Bashnya area (nort of NWAF), Prud area (north of Stary), Pobeda Dam. I always find something if I go up the western woodlands from kemenka. -

Looking for Two Hardened Men for Namalsk Gameplay
PracticalTactical replied to leth's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am mature and I am definitely hardened... -
Lol idk why anyone would think Utes would be a good map for DayZ, its pretty much just there for the in game tutorials and messing about in armoury. Its not popular because it is too small and open. Try Namalsk, thats a good map.

PracticalTactical replied to tals975's topic in New Player Discussion
Trust no one is a bit much I find. I have been playing since it was just a little baby DayZ and I find that 60-70 percent of people I contact are friendly (using my mic and loud enough that people can hear me). - Be aware of snipers in Electro, Cherno, Northwest airfield, Northeast airstrip and Stary Sobor. - Don't run in the middle of roads, paths or railway tracks but instead keep at least 50 meters away from roadways if at all possible. - Don't waste bullets on zombies unless you have to. - The crossbow is shit for most things. - Always keep plenty of bandages and morphine on hand (I keep 4 bandages and 2 morphine on me at all times). Bloodbag is optional but good choice if playing in a group. - Keep Epi pens in backpack so if you get knocked unconcious and you have a buddy he can access your pack (cant access gear as you are not dead) and use the pen. - Bullet physics and damage are realistic. Most rifles (if not all) are zeroed to 300 meters. Some rifles you can adjust zeroing others you cannot. - If you come across a hostile vehicle aim for the driver or the tires for these will stop vehicle most easily I have found. (engine block is an option if you have an LMG or higher cal AR/rifle however it is much simpler, quicker and effective to aim for the driver or tires unless you have an AS50 or M107 cause in that case engine block shots are just A-ok). - Helicopters are hard to fly, practice in Armoury mode. - If you find an ammo crate with a bunch of guns in it, its probably (99.9% sure) hacked in. You risk getting banned if you take a hacked gun from crate. - ARMA 2 and OA are great games on their own I strongly advise trying out ACE mod with them. - Do not leave vehicles or tents in debug plain, they will not be there for long. - Meat from animals helps regain lost blood. You need a hunting knife, hatchet, matches and wood to gut the animal and cook meat. Go up to a tree (in the woods) and in the gear menu right click on hatchet and select "harvest wood". - Hueys guns cannot be reloaded at this time. - People will kill you for your vehicle, be carefull. Almost all servers now are private hives so you will most likely be playing on one when you start. Private hives vary from server to server, some have different gear selections, added buildings etc. -

Gore/blood in standalone DayZ + ears ringing after heavy gunfire
PracticalTactical replied to KetchupOnTheDog's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I support all these ideas that are mentioned. More gore please, let me live the horrors of the apocalypse. -
Some private hives have it enabled probably, but I have never found one. If it is a hive server, it is 110% hacked in and you should drop that shit like its hot or risk getting banned. Not even joking, a friend of mine got banned because he was fooling around with a hacker taking hacked guns from ammo crates. You wont get banned every time, but when you do you will regret it just like my buddy did. I told him not to fuck about with hackers but he did and he suffered the concequences! btw I have never found an Mk12 on a private hive, but I have found plenty on skiddies and ammobox whores.

This is how you balance bloodsuckers on namalsk (Because they need it)
PracticalTactical replied to Skinny_Man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I would like it if there were considerably less of them but they were scarier and stronger. I like the idea that there is more out there than just zombies and players but something powerfull, intelligent and wanting to kill and eat you and every other player. If they roamed further and spawned in the middle of nowhere (middle of the woods) and around scientific or very small settlements it would be allot more interesting in my opinion. -
Yes they all work on windows seven and I know this because I use windows seven. Just make sure your system can run the game with its specs and be sure to play the basic training and other tutorials before you start playing DayZ because ARMA and OA are pretty complex and different than allot of games.

When I look at the chernarus map I see allot of it covered by sea. Perhaps it would be a good idea to insert some sort of man powered lake, river and sea transport (other than swimming, of course) such as a kayak or a canoe? On land we have the bicycle but we have nothing on the water! In an apocalyptic situation with oil and gasoline in limited supply, many people would probably use man powered transportation like bicycles and canoes because of the lack of fuel and because of the complexity of car/boat engines (probably not a whole lot of mechanics around). Also, if the chernarus plus map that is under development for standalone comes with added bodies of water like lakes, rivers and streams canoes and kayaks would come in very handy, especially because they can be taken and used in places where motor boats would have a very hard time going (such as thick cattails, small creeks and ponds). Maybe they can be portaged from one body of water to another? So, what do you think about this?
-
Yes, I recall Rocket saying something about more waterways in Chernarus + (I could be mistaken though). I sure hope they add rivers, streams and lakes in the standalone it would make the landscape so much more interesting.
-
They have a pk pickup already in ARMA so it would not be hard to put into DayZ. Actually considering chernarus mat have been in a civil war before the outbreak (assuming it follows somewhat the story from ARMA) technicals like that would not be out of the question. Even if no civil war I am sure police, military and even civilians would modify existing vehicles to be better equiped to survive zombies.

tbh, zombies are actually not doing it for me anymore. Aliens plz.

(for standalone) Ability to "clear out" certain areas
PracticalTactical replied to GeneticFreak's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like this idea. It would be great if zombies spawned in swarms where they would move across the map blanketing several hundred meters to a mile. I think that spawns should be pretty dynamic where if you kill all zombies in an area that is not a massive population center zombies would have to wander back in from outside that area an hour or two later. If this were the case, zombie "swarms" could be repelled every one or two hours if you played your card right ie. stocked up on ammo, water, food and other supplies. People could hold a town like Novy Sobor for a long time as long as they kept supply lines running and did not let the swarms into town (which would be hard because swarms would be both large and aggressive much like a swarm of bees). -
Noobiee with questions.. :/

How do you get to the NW Airfield?
PracticalTactical replied to hotfrost's topic in New Player Discussion
Sometimes a good thing to do is walk up through the woods that run all along the west side of the map, because chances are you will find someones camp and sometimes these camps have vehicles! Once you reach Lopatino area just head east allong the dirt road leading through the fields and you will get to the airfield. to do this it is best to spawn at Kemenka. -
What would the minimum system requirements be to run DayZ?
PracticalTactical replied to Damonb10's topic in New Player Discussion
WRONG! If the laptop supports MXM its GPU CAN be upgraded. 98% of laptops cannot however. I had a laptop once that supported it, considered upgrading my GPU but chose to buy a desktop instead.
