I believe the M4 spawn chance was halved was it not?

Third person view removal from SA discussion
Lancer 2-2 replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
We are dealing with the development of a new game based on the same engine, not a mod any more. So saying 1st person only on veteran servers with private hives having the option to choose is perfectly valid. -
DayZ SA needs trophies for players to prove their "time-in-game"
Lancer 2-2 replied to Chronos Blackburn's topic in General Discussion
Love it!! I want them to introduce beards anyway, if not as a customization when you make your avatar then some sort of growth and you have to find a razor to get rid of it.. for men anyway. In all honestly I would love to see things like beards and special items appearing in character creation. So anyone who was around for the Alpha should be able to spawn with an "Alpha" hoodie etc.. Alternatively since this may be too difficult for ArmA to handle, perhaps it could be a Steam based thing, steam achievements.... consider Steam to be the MMO/community side. But I would like a way to seeing my gameplay stats, like the old debug menu where I can see players killed, zombies killed etc... Somehow seeing that would be nice. -
The timer should only be triggered when you log into Server B during the same game session you were on Server A and I think the timer should be 30-45 minutes. That way if Server A goes down, you can still join Server B. If you try to ghost from A to B to A again, the timer prevents you getting back to A (combat ghosting). The timer not county for the server you immediately left, but it should prevent you from changing servers. So say I left A, connect to B then I de-synced and lost connection. I re-connect with the timer limit and I can only re-join Server B until the timer has reset then I join which ever server I want.

The only solution for DayZ: Simulation.
Lancer 2-2 replied to SalamanderAnder (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Excellent stuff... but only question is.... can the engine handle it? Granted DayZ is meant to be this "anti-game" but compared to games like Dead Rising 3, Witcher 3, Planetside 2 - thinking zombie, open world and massive multiplayer... DayZ is using an extremely out-of-date engine despite upgrades and I wonder how it will be able to hold itself up. Can all of these features be implemented into DayZ without bloating it? Can the engine handle it all? I too would love to see expansions to the player world including a stretch of sea leading up to an island and expanded in-land areas, but I have to wonder if the engine can handle that..... don't forget that we only currently have 40 player servers which is enough to make the current map feel empty at times... if you escaped the KoS fest on the coast and will very minimal zombies the game struggles. Yes it is Alpha and these "optimizations" have not occurred yet but don't forget this would be adding lots of features, lots of items and sub-items, inventories and sub-inventories, a lot more world of render along with loot and zombies to handle and then a larger server player population to live in this world... That is my concern, we find the ArmA engine just cannot cut it. -
^^ This! I have yet to die so I cannot give my opinion on the new spawns just yet, but from what I have heard it is causing some crazy immediate bloodbaths and it has reduced the area in which KoS bandits have to hunt for targets. Spawns need to be spaced out, away from military grade zones but not so you will bump into other survivors or bandits from the get go. My last spawn ended up with me somewhere in the centre of the map and I overshot the NWAF and ended up running to the top left hand corner near the de-bug field...

How about: Player logs into Server A then leaves Server A. Player logs into Server B during the same game session which starts a 30-45 minute timer preventing them from connecting to any server except for B until that timer runs out in which case they can join any server. I don't think anything will solve server hopping for looting because unless somehow a timer was started when you disconnected from a server I would assume has spent those 30 minutes slowly navigating the base, looting and moving their character to a safe location to log out/in. However it will make combat hopping/ghosting a lot less attractive since as soon as they log into Server B to position themselves, they cannot rejoin Server A for like 30-45 minutes by which point the "target" must have moved on. These sort of problems will get resolved with private hives anyway, I was a member of a white-list privatehive during the mod and it basically meant all hopping could not happen and hackers were dealt with promptly and quickly!... except the one that made us all dance randomly, then spawned us all in cherno and started firing a gun randomly... or chasing us all down with god mode on trying to kill us with an axe... He was dealt with the next day.

I think he means like a what is coming in the next patch rather than what they want to add to the game. I don't think there is, it has been rather quiet, then again it is the holiday season so be patient. We will have a patch soon adding some stuff and changing some stuff I'm sure.

Athlon X2 270 Vs. FX-4100 Bulldozer: Taking bets
Lancer 2-2 replied to TheLastEmp's topic in General Discussion
I have an FX-8350 OC to 4.3Ghz with an MSI GTX 770 2Gb and 8Gb RAM yet I still only get 15-20 fps in cities and in medium towns it can drop to 24 but usually holds around 29... and that is without combat on default settings except anti-aliasing and motion blur have been turned down slightly. -
Server hopping probably doesn't have anything to do with this, I think this was just bad luck he happened to be in the room when someone logged in. Logging off/in points can be bad as KoSers will just camp those sites and wait for you to venture out.

I always think it should be like this: Most common first: Melee Weapons - anywhereCivilian & Farm Weapons - found in offices, farms, mansions, sheds, garages, vehicle wrecks and some houses.Police Weapons - found in police and fire buildingsLocal Military Grade Weapons & uniform - found in barracks, military buildings and control towers.Western Military Grade Weapons, gadgets & uniform (very rare) - found only at rare helicopter wrecks and often damaged in need of repair

What, exactly, is the point of this game?
Lancer 2-2 replied to Zascha-Geriko's topic in General Discussion
I think the question we need to ask if can the engine handle what we want it to do? I mean those of us saying the point of the game is to "survive" and "make it as you will" are more than likely ex-mod players or still are. The problem I foresee is with the game engine, can the ArmA engine really be updated to compete with modern zombie survival games or massive player based games such as Dead Rising 3 or (I'm thinking in terms of large maps with hundreds of players) Planetside 2. Then you have up-coming Witcher 3 which looks to be set in a large, beautiful open-world and I have to ask if the ArmA engine can handle the DayZ we want or need. I don't think we can really just market the mod, new players who paid for a game generally look for an introduction, a story of some sort with an aim, goals, objectives and eventually an end game. Now I can see an introduction movie can easily be added, coming up with a story to introduce you to the world and what has happened is also easy. But what about player goals/objectives, how can we communicate them more clearly? Also an End Game must be carefully handled, we don't want players achieving it, getting bored and quitting thinking there is not point to the game anymore. Also can the DayZ engine be updated to the point where it can be added to? I'm thinking expansions, so maybe a year or more after the games full release we could see an expansion which basically opens up the map south or east adding in a whole island or expanding the map North or West adding more inland territories for players to spawn/explore keeping the game feeling new, fresh... I mean whenever I got bored of the Cherno map I would join a Namalsk server etc.. At the end of the day, DayZ is... what you make of it. Basically a survival game where you try to keep your character alive as long as possible. One thing I liked in the mod which I am hoping to see return is whenever you logged in some text would appear stating which day it was... this is important in seeing how well you are doing and annoying every time you died and saw... Day 0... I just hope that the ArmA engine can handle this development and it won't just end up being a paid for mod. -
Third person view removal from SA discussion
Lancer 2-2 replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
Same hives... just different server settings... so Veteran servers for 1st person only, noobie and regular servers allow 3rd person... otherwise let it be the same hive and give private hives the option to choose. -
Just want to see community preference on 1st/ 3rd person servers quickly.
Lancer 2-2 replied to AP_Norris's topic in General Discussion
1st and 3rd... why limit everyone to 1st person when some of us quite like using 3rd person to see our avatar, the animations etc... I use 1st person for combat and switch to it quite often but I still use 3rd person and I wouldn't want to be limited to 1st. Let there be official servers for both 1st and 3rd or make the Veteran mode for 1st person only allow private hives the choice of what they want on their server. -
I'm cool with everything except automatic shoguns and burst/automatic pistols unless it is an Uzi submachine gun... Not keen on the 3D printed gun, somehow just doesn't fit. Gear has to be consistent with the following (in my opinion): Farm Weapons (Double Barrel Shoguns, Hunting Rifles)Civilian Available Weapons (Anything from Shotguns, Hunting Rifles, Pistols to the AK series of Assault Rifles)Local Police Force Weapons (Pistols, Sub-Machine Guns, Pump Action Shotguns)Local Military Grade Weapons (Pistols, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, Sub-Machine Guns, Eastern Assault Rifles/Carbines) - (rarer)Assisting Foreign Military Grade Weapons & Gadgets (Pistols, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, Sub-Machine Guns, Western Assault Rifles/Carbines & Gadgets) - (very rare)

You have into consideration that you will be meeting people new to the game and who have not played or even know about the mod... Their perspective is that this is a "new" game, granted an alpha but it is a "new" game and they will naturally compare it to games such as the Witcher 3, Elder Scrolls Online, Skyrim, Dead Rising 3 and what ever else is out or coming out etc.. etc.. So we have try not to "flame" them too quickly and take the time explain things to them that this game is not about graphics or physics but interaction, survival, decisions etc... like DocHoman has done! :)

DayZ is FailZ (Lacklustre Infected comment)
Lancer 2-2 replied to Spidey (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
And I'm not even sure if the melee can be fixed as it wasn't exactly meant to be part of ArmA 2, especially the animations and how we hold the items... I'm hoping Rocket proves me wrong in that respect XD -
Retention - How is the Standalone going to achieve what the mod could not?
Lancer 2-2 replied to semipr0's topic in General Discussion
Well base building won't be to that extent, it will be the ability to apply sections of barbed wire, wooden fencing, sandbag walls (reinforced with wood) at various heights requiring someone trying to get passed having to climb over, jump, cut or demolish completely. Naturally cutting barbed wire is the quieter to demolishing but physically touching or jumping that should hurt you and maybe make you bleed. The point of this is to protect what ever someone has "horded" inside, but it is not a fortress and everything can be tackled in their way rather simply if you have the right tools and/or the builder has not made any mistakes. Don't forget there has to be a way in anyway... even if it some form of interaction with a gate called "padlock" which can be broken with certain heavy duty cutting tools. It does just leave you vulnerably in the open for a few seconds when your avatar goes through the animation. Again this is not a fortress to horde weapons, but it could be one survivor or several or even bandits who just want a base of ops to store loot and strike out from.... could even be vehicles inside. This adds an element of factions and gangs developing out of the survivors, bandits, looters etc... You don't have to do any of this, you can carry on as you like being the solo guy... you can even sneakily break into one of these camps and steal stuff. As for tents, who is to say they have to stay like the "storage box tents" from Arma 2. They could be tents we can crouch walk or prone crawl into as well as being limited storage boxes. We could have different tents from the compact tents to larger tents you can even walk into... store more stuff in but are easier to spot and harder to hide unless slap bang in the middle of an encampment. This works with IEDs, claymores, mines... can be used to deter anyone trying to gain entry through the "trap zones".... and it would be interesting as I believe Rocket mentioned he wants to make fire/heat/smoke attract zombies so having a camp fire or making noise within your encampment has a chance to attract zombies who will end up surrounding your encampment damaging the defences or setting off the traps. A loud explosion attracts more zombies which can now trudge through the gap left by the now blown up zombie, you spawn in and... holy crap!!! As for shelter... perhaps simply logged off too many times in the "wilderness" can cause illness, but logging off inside of shelter preserves your stats and protects you from the weather. I'm thinking the Namalsk map in DayZ and feeling cold... how fires and warm clothes warm you up. -
First person only players need to band together
Lancer 2-2 replied to Dagwood's topic in General Discussion
So long as it is a server option to change it on private hives and say Veteran mode servers force 1st person... it is not fair that you force everyone else to put up with ArmA's clunky 1st person mechanics, some of us like to view the animations and our gear and then switch to 1st for combat (because aiming is messed up in 3rd person). -
I have yet to regen any health from my zombie hits and I'm trying to keep my food/thirst symbols topped up as possible.

[Poll] Would you like to see a seperate client for DayZ Private Hives?
Lancer 2-2 replied to cywehner1234's topic in General Discussion
Or give us the option to filter non-official servers.... aka only see privately hosted servers like the DayZ mod launchers do... ?? -
Why do people think there would be more civilian weapons than military?
Lancer 2-2 replied to captainvette2112's topic in General Discussion
I think it is mostly due to the fact that within 5 minutes of spawning you could have your hands on full military kit with an M4 carbine.... (not an AK)... I would prefer if I could find an AK, shotguns, hunting rifles, pistols or police issue sub-machine guns before I found the more military grade AKs/M4s etc.... But a more common, cheaper AK for civilians could be found... though not necessarily with ammo. -
I'm sure there will be... it is just Alpha with limited character options... maybe even due to Rocket's realism it will grow over time and we would have to find super rare razors to trim it... or we will become walking wookies!!!!!!!

Retention - How is the Standalone going to achieve what the mod could not?
Lancer 2-2 replied to semipr0's topic in General Discussion
Why not? It is natural that during a zombie apocalypse a group of survivors would wish to have shelter, it is human nature to want a home, protection. So you would find what you could to board up windows, doors, use ex-military sandbags or barbed wire, build fences to protect yourself from looters/zombies. Also we would need some sort of delay/protection for tents as we are not around 100% of the time to defend them if found. If you don't like it play servers that don't allow it, or just ignore it... you don't have to bum on someone else's gamestyle if it doesn't suit you, if you find a "camp" then either demolish it or avoid it.... why do you need to get involved if your not going to take advantage, that is find, that is your play style. But if Rocket is going for realism, then the human nature and requirement for shelter and protection should factor. It also works with combat logging, I mentioned somewhere else that if you log off while in the middle of nowhere your avatar should remain for X time, but if you log off inside a building aka shelter you disappear instantly... this adds the realism of shelter... I mean if we constantly slept in the middle of the forest/field with no sleeping bag or cover we would all die of various illnesses.... it is a cold, wet world out there. So you can pitch your tent, but find a nice spot you can pitch your tent with a buddies and either build some fences, boobie traps around it or just relocate every day or so.... makes the game more sandbox MMO like too which I think is cool, adds depth and realism. It also gives groups of bandits and the lone looter something to do and we all loved that moment we came across undefended tents in the mod and they had that all vital medical supplies, food, drink, ammo and cool weapons inside.... -
Bullet proof vests and Night Vision goggles.
Lancer 2-2 replied to Smoothshoes's topic in General Discussion
You might, but not every server is day only.... I would like to see weapons such as: Handguns, Uzis, Sub-machine guns (police issue), AK series of weapons (civilian and military), mosins (rare, but still around), hunting rifles (civilian and found in the hunting towers), shotguns and the occasional though again rare PKM or light machine guns. We then could have super-rare helicopter crash sites that spawn less often than they did in the mod and cover a larger area which have a chance of spawning western weapons such as M16 and M4 variants, weapon attachments, military clothing/gear and gadgets such as NVGs.... but rare and only a chance of spawning stuff like that and when they do they won't be pristine (but repairable). Operable Vehicles: Soviet style transport helicopters and civilian helicopters, no gunships please... not without AA weapons.... and maybe a super rare Huey. Various cars, trucks, jeeps, tractors, bicycles, motorbikes of soviet civilian, official and military design. I don't want things to become like the mod with AS50s and night vision/thermal imaging assault rifles... as fun as they were at times... it doesn't quite fit a soviet themed state during/after a zombie apocalypse.
