If they implement currency it will eventually turn into a micro-transaction. Mark my words!

I have been lucky finding maps at the castles in the past when I first started. If you are avoiding towns why not try there? Might be handy to learn some navigation skills in the mean time, like how to find north or use a topographical map of Chernarus that you can use as a reference.

Without beans how will we survive?

Hey TehReview, Sorry to hear they screwed you over. If you are interested in checking out a group try out the details below in my signature. We are a community of Day Z players, people can just hop in and play. We don't ask anyone to stay or become members, you can play for as long as you want and if you want to become a member we can evaluate that later on. So far I have not seen or heard of any incidents like yours in our group and I plan to make sure it stays that way. We have a lot of regulars who have been playing with us for a few months that I can vouch for. As a fellow medic, I agree that some people are just dicks. Better to get to know people before you play with them and try things out. Just be careful who you join next time! Let me know if this interests you, otherwise I wish you the best of luck Mr. lone wolf.

They are a problem but I would not agree to a ban. They are merely making the problem more common place with their naive view of what Rocket has intended for this mod. In time this will be changed and more concrete rules will be brought in. The only thing being done at the moment is the dev team 'stress-testing' what rules they don't have to implement. Doing this lets players drive the norm. The devs will then pick and choose what they need for the standalone. Harun, this is not a feature. You are exploiting a mechanic that is not even present in the mod's code. These are spawned from scripts and have no place in Day Z. They are present in the ARMA 2 game, so I highly recommend you go play them in the single player. Tree roots killing you would be a feature as well, using the same argument from Harun Danyal. You contested this to Battle Eye? Or spoke to the server supplier to get some evidence for yourself?

FIX THE DAM TENTS OR TAKE THEM OUT
SumoS replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Graphical glitches are less prominent or gone. So they are making some progress. Alpha tends to go two steps forward, one step back, etc. Alpha is the point of the mod where they add features. Beta is the major bug fixing phase. At the minute they are trying to add more plates and keep all the plates spinning without it all going to hell. Be patient and just avoid tents for the time being. Vehicles are screwed up at the minute also. -

SumoS replied to Minsty's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Aye but it would be great to have the option to provide aid in a vehicle. -
Indeed. No bans should be issued without evidence to back them up. I think the point is really about obvious hacked weapons. Weapons that are not in the current game legally that are being used even though players know that they hacked in. Even then it is not a matter of banning the player. At the end of the day this is a discussion on why people should leave them be. Both sides have had equal point to discuss why they think they should or should not take them. Banning isn't an option at the current time because they have not broken any rules. They just haven't done anyone any favors and have made this type of behavior common. Once the bugs have been addressed and duping items is no longer possible then they can refresh every database. Any hacked weapons will hopefully be removed by then and anyone that is duping or hacking will be doing this via illegal means and thereby accountable for their actions. This should be enforceable by then and hopefully we will have the tools at our disposal to do so. And agreed. They need to focus on those issues to get balancing right. Got all my fingers and toes crossed but I don't see it happening by day one on standalone release.

Being able to load a wounded player in a vehicle and patching them up in the back. -
Rocket has already stated his laissez faire attitude on a number of topics. I doubt he even considered this as an option for game-play when he designed it. He cant outline it in the rules because, like everything, this can be abused. He will not be able to comment on this until duping and script-editing can be fixed. Only then will all of the hacked weapons be officially banned. Until then the only thing stopping people from using them is their own judgement. By all means, keep your gun until the rules are tightened up to reflect the completed game but be aware this will happen eventually. Until then, you will be continuing to exploit the system. Currently, the only arguments for you keeping the guns are that you 'have not been told off for doing so' and 'can't beat 'em, so will join 'em'. Which are both very childish.

There is also the matter that a large number of newer players will head directly to post in whatever section they feel will get high traffic. That isn't necessarily wrong but there certainly may be better places to put those sorts of questions. Most recruitment posts get redirected to the Bandit/Survivor sections anyway, the majority going into the Survivors section due to more communities being Survivor based. Surely some of the posts in the Bandit campfire are legitimate complaints? Let them express their concerns. Then feel free to bash their ideals. No need to troll. Just help them realize the current state of affairs so they can be better informed in the future. What is the point in having discussions if you can't see more than one point of view? I don't think it is a matter of ambiguous forums but more the fact that some people choose to post wherever?

It will have to be initiated in a script surely? This isn't a MMO in which you can type /dance

Really nice mate! Have some beans Edit: I do like the original. Posterizing the original image may also have some interesting results. I originally liked the contrast of the reflections on the grass. Although the black grass does make the image more consistent.

Item spawns rarer on low pop servers, rarer by day than night.
SumoS replied to kander's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Nice input AJ. I too feel like loot is too common. In the apocalypse I would expect their to be a major shortage of everything, except zombies to shoot. The main problem is this is a shooter. Or people think it is at least. So a shortage of ammo would be a major problem. Personally, I would see a shortage of ammo and decent weapons as a much more engrossing experience. Where if you find any weapon upgrade it would be a big deal. Instead of people creating amazing load-outs. Ultimately this has been made redundant due to duping anyway but once that has been dealt with it would be great to see a reduction in items overall. reducing rarer items according to the server population would be an interesting idea as well. -
Looking for Players to Play With Day Z
SumoS replied to KeyTor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hey KeyTor Feel free to check us out. We are an open community of Day Z players that have 2 servers, a TS server and active leadership. Try our details below and you should be able to hop in a game on our Teamspeak server. We have quite a few UK players, myself for one. -

SumoS replied to kander's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Good ideas but frankly a percentage chance is still a percentage chance. There has been a major flux of players in the recent patches due to hackers and glitches and this has left some servers barren. Night time could be your best defense as well. You are less visible but the other counter is you can barely see. In the beginning I hated the dark, now it is just another ally in some situations. Bear in mind that some people want to play lone wolf as well on empty servers. Your point could make the game more challenging for them which could certainly increase their enjoyment. The idea in its current form could use some work but kudos to you for starting it off. Have some beans :) -
Aye but lets try to keep this discussion respectable for everyone involved. Comments like that can easily make people disagree with your argument regardless of any decent points you may have made. Indeed, you have to use your better judgement to establish what is duped. Just the other day I was emptying someone's tents and just chucking the suspected duped items on the ground and saving the tents. There are no definites as of yet but hopefully this issue will be addressed soon. The original scripter and dupers are ultimately to blame but you cannot shift all of the blame from people willingly using hacked items. If you take a hacked item because it is an upgrade, then you are abusing the system for your own gain. If it was better than what you had, then that is an exploit. Just leave it and move on. Don't stoop to their level. Everyone dies eventually and they will lose their gear. Continue to play while avoiding anything you suspect to be duped or hacked and this behavior will gradually decrease as more and more people become aware. Be better than them and you will find that you can enjoy the game more. Be rewarded for your hard work.

Hey Everyone. I just thought I would give everyone an update on how WEG is doing. Peak at the start and tailing off to average at 4 members per week. Lets see how this looks in the longer term! As you can see we are very bottom-heavy which is great to see. Plenty of guests checking us out with approximately a fifth becoming members. Again, lets see what happens! Over 1000 posts!! Lets see what the new high score is! A quarter of a thousand likes. That is an average of 1 like every 4 posts! Encouraging figures! We have two servers in operation. One of which is a dedicated 70 player server! Check out the details below to see if you want to be part of this growing community! Feel free to PM me. SumoS

Here at WEG we aim to provide a safe haven for bandits and survivors alike. So we currently cater for a diverse group of people. We have a TS server, a dedicated server, a slotted server (this could be removed later on) and a strong community with active leadership. If you are looking for a community to drop in and play with feel free to check us out at www.worldsendgaming.com

1.7.2.5 Tents and Vehicle Inventories not saving.
SumoS replied to NocturnalS1n's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This is an issue. They will deal with it You are not paying for Day Z. You are paying for a server in which you can provide a means for testing which you have been doing. Please don't feel entitled to anything because ultimately you are playing a free mod. All you need to do is post feedback and then they can respond to it. -
Appreciate the condescending tone, now lets try keep this civil like I have tried to do throughout this discussion. No, people who use scripted items do fall into the exploiter territory. The dev team cannot allow bans for this as it can be exploited by poor admins and it also gives some people leeway when they find a weapon and do not know if it was scripted in. However, people that knowingly use hacked weapons are exploiting mechanics that were not intended, for their own gain. That is almost the cookie-cutter definition of an exploiter. It is the same lax rules that the devs have imposed on server admins where we cannot enforce anything without reprieve except for racism and abuse. However, Rocket has also said that combat logging or Alt F4'ing is an exploit thereby making it fair game to kick/ban for that reason. Please be aware I am not condoning this either. Once the game mechanics change to reflect the team's stance I will be satisfied. I just strongly believe that using hacked weapons is ruining the game for other players, just as much as duping is. If you feel you are happy to continue using them, please carry on but expect this to change in due time. I like how you are referring to me as a carebear. Forgive me for playing the game as intended. The way I play I try to help people in need while also watching my own arse. You are merely using your own skewed sense of entitlement to justify using hacked weapons for your own gain. Giving you and your group a tactical advantage over others. While I agree with you in the sense that the best equipped squad will win, I disagree in the point that you are stressing. You mentioned earlier that hacked in items were not a distinct advantage but here you refer to them as a tactical advantage that gives your squad an upper-hand. An organized squad can be a significant threat with any weapon, if they know to use it effectively. If you can only compete and be effective with hacked in weapons then that is not good and I feel sorry for your team. Your argument earlier was based around duping being the same level of a problem as hacking. Now you openly condone both. Try to keep a solid vision throughout this discussion instead of choosing what to reply to in hypothetics. Why would you need to use the mildots when you could potentially use range finders to get an accurate distance? Combine the range finders with the AS50 TWS and you would have a more effective Counter-sniper / Spotter/ Anti-Materiel / Sniper. A normal AS50 would be made unusable in night time incursions while the TWS would be ideal. Yes, you can see where the bullets land in the heat vision if you pay attention (There is an excellent single player scenario where you have one and you are taking out a rebel colonel. I highly recommend playing it). So yes the AS50 TWS has a tactical advantage in many situations. Overall, this seems to have turned into a moral discussion along the lines of ''Can't beat em. So I might as well join em'' Carebear to the rescue!
