I am fairly new to the forums, but not to the mod and after browsing the dayz suggestions thread for the past few days it has become apparent to me that there are so many different players that want so many different things from the SA. This was indicated to me by the broad spectrum of ideas which if implemented would change the way the game is played by 80 percent of us and in some cases send the game into a completely new genre. Gameplay ideas come in many forms, there are the suggestions born of personal frustration, ideas that would make the game easier or harder and ones that simply add to the immersion. What we want from the game is determined by which genres of games we tend to normally play. The day z mod covers so much ground that it attracts a whole manner of gamers, which is good in one way but people need to realise day z is day z, it's unique, it may cover elements of survival horror, fps, tps, rpg, but it is not any of these it is day z and to try and send it down a generic route to make it too accessible would be a grave mistake in my opinion. I personally have been playing for around 8 months and i still come back with the same enthusiasm everytime, and every firefight still has the tension, my thought process upon meeting a new player has changed since the beginning but at least a thought process exists which is more than i can say for any other mmo. So after my ramblings as the title suggest i am asking, what keeps you coming back to day z ?
-
This is exactly what i was talking about my thought process, no other mmo offers it, the different decisions that can be made in one single situation can be abit overwhelming to a new player and still bear an effect on the more advanced players. The decision making is part of the learning curve that contributes to a players skill level and thats just great in a game.

Dont really like this idea mate but don't let dicks keep you from posting more ideas. -
Why make instanced or underground bases?
Crusader- replied to Jeremiah Cross's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Then that would make them all the sweeter. -
So when it comes to vehicle repairs i know the mod has limitations, but in the standalone i was thinking specific parts for each vehicle type. You shouldnt be able to run around with a one kit fixes all in your backpack. For example using the car tyre to fix a bike wheel ? Just to make it a little more of a challenge to repair anything. I had a quick search and found nothing on this, please post your concerns, loopholes and pitfalls.

I dont think they should over do it, i mean it is a game, but maybe increase the inventory space it takes up or if they implement a weight based inventory. I agree with maybe more cars, but make alot of them quite banged up so its quite time consuming to repair them otherwise it would be like need for speed Z.

Ok so since we're taking ideas from other games i've playing FFX recently and i really think day z needs aeons.... i think anima would fit in with the feel of the game... definatly... yeah
-
Yes, sarcasm, the lowest form of witt to deal with the lowest for of opposition (the misinformed!)
-
Yeah but to be honest i dont want the guys to try and take anything away from the pvp because that would be changing what day z, if you dont like pvp thats fine but it would be wrong to try and force people to work together.
-
Great replies guys, more than i expected actually. I like the looting etc but i also like the personal satisfaction of having worked for your gear, sat in a heli you repaired yourself with you as50 you gained from killing thay bandit that nearly got you, nobody knows how you got your gear... there isnt a number and a badge next to your name telling everyone how many hours youve logged on the game.... but you know what youve done, you know how good you are and you know all your hard work can be undone by a reckless manuovre in that heli or a ill fated trip across the airfield, thats why i love it so much.
-
How did he fire so many off without you doing anything
-
I like the initial idea, just dont really like the 'tournanent'.
-
I quite like your idea tunusa.
-
Yes i agree it would have to be coupled with that to make it bearable.
-
i believe there is another zombie survival game which implemented micro-transactions and shall fade into the annals of history. Also i hope the clothing options dont allow you to wear a long dress and a motorcycle helmet.
-
Yeah ive seen a few players talk about skins. Just check out the dev blogs and see character customisation. Which obviously renders skins obsolete.
-
Ahh apologies if it has been mentioned. I like the idea because it will create a sort of, operation you would have to carry out over a slightly longer time period, especially if alone. The weight based inventory idea i like and have thought about before and would definatly make repairing a vehicle more difficult if playing alone, but thats obviously a coversation to be had on another thread.
-
Also apologies mods for this slightly unrelated post. I would like to play on a server with you sometime to see actually how good you are that you dont find day z a challenge. Ive been playing for around 8 months and i still find it a challenge and i think im pretty good now.
-
Yeah i dont really like this suggestion too much, i understand where you are coming from though. Maybe the addition of hordes which has been spoken about will create the challenge you want.

Why make instanced or underground bases?
Crusader- replied to Jeremiah Cross's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Bases or not, i for one, will be finding a nice comfortable spot for my single tent. The life of the lone wolf. Saying that it would be nice to raid etablished bases ninja style, you just dont get those 4 cars a ural and a heli camps anymore :(. -
I understand exactly what you're trying to say mate. I just dont think you understand that some bigger clans have their own servers and have websites to sign up to with incentives and organised events, on these websites they will have a list of rules that they abide by, some have a ranking system. All of your suggestions are a valid way to play, as are all play types (apart from hacking) but they are maintained by the community because if they are implemented into the game it will force players into a playstyle that maybe they dont want.
-
I dont think side quests suit the type of game dayZ is. Your suposed to choose your own objectives and play how you want. Like i said you should just form your own clan if you cant find one that suits you.
