Hi. i've been playing only for a couple of hours, and i realized how hard it might get when you're on your own. So i was wondering if anyone here, would like to start up a group with me, to play as often as possible. I've got no real purpose for the group yet, like a goal or anything.. Main goal to start with, would probably be surviving. And we could discuss further progress.. I'm not seeing my self as the "leader" of the group, or anything. it's not going to be a "militia" just a group of guys.. So if you're afraid of being pushed arround, don't worrie.. Tho' we're going to have a few "rules" or "guidelines" 1. NO TK's (ofcourse, since that would kinda ruin the whole purpose..) 2. NO progressing, without group, or without settling it with the rest of the group (Nobody likes to be left behind) 3. Max 5 people in the group (More than five people would make it rather difficult getting arround without being noticed, and to be online at the same time) 4. You must speak english. (This is to make sure we're able to communicate, since running arround with 5 different languages would be.. disturbingly annoying) 5. In order to make sure that everyone has a nice time, please show others the trust and respect you wan't them to show you. ( There is no reason for us to be running arround, in a war, when the Bandits, and Zeds are running arround us..) 6. You must have a mic, and ofcourse some sort of audio (This is to communicate more easily, and without having to hide from others when we need to talk.) 7. You must live in central europe (Due to the vast change in timezones.) I do have a TeamSpeak server we might be able to use, just gotta ask the owner real quick and i'll leave a comment in here saying if we got a go or not. otherwise we might be able to use skype or similar. And just to make it alot easier, it would be awesome if we could exchange Facebooks or emails or whatever, to make contacting eachother alot more easy. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ If you think all of this sounds a bit too nerdy or kinda silly, don't bother commenting. Ouch, that might be a problem.. You see, im from central europe.. is it impossible to play across like that? - and what about the time zones? right now, it's like.. 3.15pm where i am..

Haha, sounds funny indeed..! I wanna give it a try, but what about equipment and such? And what server are you playing on?

I've tried now for a few hours to figure out how to get this.. - you have a video in here explaining it, and it tells me to click the "download the beta" thingy on the front page, and then i should be able to choose between european or US download? but that doesn't happen.. what to do?

Yeah it was in the commander.. And i decided just to try and install it, and it worked! yay! - I guess the 34 seconds i've asumingly been playing ArmA 2, worked just fine :) Now i just need someone to play with :b hahaa

Well.. i bought Arma II CO on steam.. so i guess you don't need any CD Keys? Should i try to install if even tho it says "NOT FOUND - Out Of Date" ?

Correction, neither of the mods are available now....

Ehm, im having a bit of a problem i think.. When i try to launch ArmA II , it says : Bad Serial number filed in setup, or something like that.. Tho' my raptr says i've been playin arma II for 34 seconds, does that count as if i'd opened it ? And when i opened the DayZ Commander, as you said, and enter the "Install/update" page, it says that DayZ is out of date tho' the "Additional Mods" are still available, should i just install one of them?

Well.. most of the things makes perfect sense.. Tho' most of it is probably known by everyone.. Kinda stating the obvious, but that doesn't matter.. I slightly disagree with you on the flare thing, in your "NOT TODO" list. Tho' it is true, that if i light a flare in the middle of the night, you'd probably see it.. but then again.. is it a trap? i'd might use it to lure impatient bandits to that exact location... just to flank him and paint a tree with his brains.. hell with it, i'd even suggest, throwing flares once in a while, randomly.. if you can ofcourse. just to make your followers think, that you're there.. Just.. Throw it, walk away from the path you've been running and head in a ((slightly)) different direction and continue your journy, that'll leave your follower occupied, and a bit confused. (That said, it's not a bulletproof way of surviving) - AND, if flares is anything but important, you could throw some arround couldn't you? in my opinion, it is a MUST to know ALL of these tips. I you don't, Don't play. simple.. - But that's just my opinion ^^

I've tried to find the answer to this in some of the other threads, but it seems like it's not fully explained, so i was just wondering if you have to buy the mod aswell as the original game.. im aware of the fact that you need ArmA 2 CO to play, but if you wanna play the DayZ mod, do you have to buy that too? Or is it a free download?

No one said that, being one of the last survivors includes being "nice" to people.. that said. im not the type of guy who just pulls the trigger in your face.. And yeah, it sure is alot more fun when you have someone with you. But when you've played for.. maybe days, with the same character, being killed by someone you asumed being friendly is totally NOT worth it.. it's mentioned a few times in this thread, but it deserves to be repeated: If you're not 100% sure if you can trust a stranger, then don't. 99% is not enough.. unless you're 100.00% sure, you should probably walk away, on your own. - My suggestion is: Tell a friend about the game, encourage them to play, and if it's real life friends, chances they'll turn on you is almost non existing. Another suggestion would be something like; Meet up in here, at the forum, or any other place you can talk with people.. get to know the ones you wanna play with.. usually helps me. - And having TeamSpeak or Ventrilo or any other engine like those, is a GREAT help due to the increased communication availabillity.
