Will DayZ support the Oculus Rift?
SwitchSL (DayZ) replied to karlkurtz32's topic in General Discussion
I watched Sword Art Online so there is no way in hell I'm going to use a VR device and end up stuck in a world as buggy as DayZ's. -
Here, Devs, a word in your shell like..

While reading about such a situation gave me a brief smile and a little chuckle even escaped my mouth, I feel for you man. I completely understand. -
Scariest Experience in DayZ
SwitchSL (DayZ) replied to venomstingergaming's topic in General Discussion
A few days ago I decided to log into a 3rd person sever. It's been a while but I knew there had been a wipe so I knew what to expect.... or so I thought. The loading screen fades and I find myself on the side of a cliff! I am on what seems to be a ledge just wide enough to walk on, hopefully to safety. So I take a few tentative steps, and then a few more as I gain some bravery. I reach the plateau and take a few more confident steps towards solid ground when all of a sudden I am rubberbanded back to the exact place I so nearly thought I had escaped! "NOOOOOOOOOO!" I shouted as my character took a step off the ledge and fell to it's death. Total elapsed lifetime, about 15 seconds. "What's so scary about that?" you ask. The fact that after all this time, players are still spawning into ridiculous places such as the side of a rock cliff... -
So the initial non-fatal gunshots aren't in the logs? You'd think that pvp injuries would be there, as well as starvation deaths, fall damage too. I don't even understand why zombie damage isn't logged.

Ballistic helmets are too effective

Yes please! Shooting someone's protected skull results in them becoming my own personal almost-dead guy to carry around and do with what I like until someone administers epinephrine and morphine. -
I had a custom laptop built around 4 years ago to be used for work and games. I did a lot of research before having a boutique company build it. The best thing I did was to get a cooling pad and then upgrade it's fans and the fan inside the laptop. It's possible your vid card died, as that laptop is no longer sold, it's somewhat aged. Games like this and laptops do not mix well, especially when the minimum requirements are barely met. Replacing a laptop video card isn't like replacing a desktop video card. They are much more expensive, and it's usually easier to just buy a new laptop. I hope it turns out to be something easily resolved.

I too am curious about this magical remedy.

What are good game mechanics/ features from other games that work in dayz ?
SwitchSL (DayZ) replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
Assassin's Creed gives your character the ability to dive from great heights and land in a pile of hay. Would be great for snipers looking for a quick way off the tops of those really tall buildings. lulz -
Yet your reply was the least helpful/humorous of them all. Back OT: Base building will be awesome and when they get around to implementing seasonal weather, an igloo will be my favorite base.

Guns you can't wait to see in DayZ?

Nobody else has said it, so allow me to mention the rifle that has had the biggest impact on DayZ, the AS-50. -
Fixed.

So you helped one person and then 2 different people showed up? Most pairs/groups running around aren't nice guys helping other nice guys. It's an alpha with nothing else to do and will be this way for, as things look now, another couple of years at least. So go bandit and kill them all until the game has been polished(cross your fingers), then you can wipe the drool off your chin and play as Bear Grylls! But yeah, most have felt your pain. For me it's cyclic. All the way back to the mods release. I might help someone, then try to help another... "Need a gun/bloodbag/drink? I have a spare." Black screen - You are dead. Then you go and kill everyone you see for a few days and when you have regained your humanity, you give it another try. Rinse and the essential repeat. DayZ has been doomed to harbor this sort of behavior since it's inception. The SA held all sorts of promise such as a focus on anti-hack... And then the source code was released which pretty much necessitated a new engine(because they just handed every hacker a key to the city), an engine(or bits and pieces cobbled together) which is in the works and will be for some time. And shortly afterwards Rocket with his cargo pants full of cash decides that because he's climbed a mountain, he can run his own company. Exit stage left. My point is the game is jinxed. It's been ruined since it's initial alpha release. Because of the lack of activities, KOS has prevailed and will continue until a deterrent is implemented, but that most likely will never happen. For the game to have been followed more as it was hoped to be, it should have been released when it was completed. Seriously, what else are you going to do on a huge map with other players, 10 zombies and lots of guns? Run around and kill each other until you have drool dripping from your chin. *Queue ominous tones for extra dramatic effect* Binnggggg Bonnggggg -
What do you want to see in .54

DayZ needs this because there just isn't enough fun in the post- apocalyptic Chernarus.
