Perhaps you could find the tarps as an item then add different things to it yourself, like branches or grass depending on the area you plan to hide it? Or maybe just have different skins spawn, like player skins (Ghillie suits, camo clothing)
-
Maybe you could make a variant with materials you collect from the woods? Although I think that would be too easy to aquire?
-
Maybe if the vehicles engine has been on within a certain time period it would show up, and fade as it cooled?

If it is possible, I think something like a camo tarp could be added to make it easier to hide vehicles. I think there could be 3 sizes: Small, Medium, Large, with bigger vehicles needing bigger tarps. SMALL TARP -Hides Vehicles like ATV's and motorcycles -Three small tarps can be combined into one medium tarp MEDIUM TARP -Hides cars and jeeps like the Skoda, UAZ and Offroad Pickup -Three medium tarps combine to one large - Can be broken down into three small tarps LARGE TARP -Used to hide vehicles like Busses, URALs and Helicopters (when re-introduced) -Can be broken down into 3 medium tarps Tarps could be placed on a vehicle to increase it's ability to be hidden, make it look more like a tent possibly. Would need to be removed before vehicle can be driven. Ideas? Opinions?

I agree with the fact it should only be a status effect, and changing the animation wouldn't really be necescary. It could just prevent the user from running (always moving as if SHIFT was held down) until it healed or morphine was taken. I also like the idea of vaulting being removed....I don't see myself jumping around with a broken leg. The recipe I agree with, but perhaps you need a hatchet or maybe a hunting knife in your inventory to make the splint. Would make it slightly harder to make. Glad most people like the idea so far!
-
Splints could take a while to apply, making them something you could only do while in a safe area?
-
Maybe morphine could be used as a temporary (5-10 minutes?) relief allowing full movement, but you would need to splint and let it heal to fix it perma. Making morphine something used in sticky situations where making a splint isn't possible?
-
Maybe use wood to make the shafts of the bolts and tin cans for bolt-heads? I would enjoy something like that!
-
I like the idea of the bone healing over time, and moving slower until it has. I know some people like having to go to hospitals....the risks involved ect. I personally would love to be able to live completely off the land.

I think from a realism standpoint, a splint would be a better way to fix a broken leg than morphine. If splints were introduced maybe you could make one by having a hacthet and knife, and using on a wood pile? This way you wouldn't be stuck in a northern city after being attacked by zeds, far, far away from a hospital. You could crawl to trees and make yourself a splint, provided you have the proper materials. The main issue I can see with the idea is it removes a major reason for going to hospitals. Players might not even ever need to, unless they get sick and need antibiotics. Animals = blood, trees = fixed broken leg...could be an issue. I would be thrilled to see splints introduced if they could be done well. Any thoughts?

If having connection issues after steam updates Arma, verify integrity of game cache for BOTH ARMA II and ARMA II: Operation Arrowhead. This fixed my issues -

What graphical settings do you play on?
HobnobCookies replied to austendude's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My computer has all quite good specs, except for my terrible graphics card. I play on low, with a thing or two tweaked slightly. I average about 30-40fps, but it drops when I am near trees or zoom in while using iron sights. -
I was only recently able to begin playing so here is the story of my first encounter with a player. I came out of some woods at the top of a hill, with a town at the bottom. I scoped in to scout the town, and saw only a few zeds wandering around. After slowly moving around the town to have safe access to a barn without moving through a large number of walkers I slowly entered the town. As I walked in the barn a saw movement on the platform to my left. I thought it was one of the monkey zombie jumping around, and ignored it as I didn't think it would see me if i moved carefully. After I retrieved the supplies on the right platform I turned around and saw a player with an MP5 pointed at me. I immediately hid behind a pile of hay and asked if he was friendly. He was, and in dire need of a blood transfusion. After a few minutes of standing still with our guns pointed at each other we decided we could trust each other. I gave him a blood transfusion, using his blood pack. He gave me some supplies in return for helping him. We parted ways from the barn, but as he was leaving he attracted quite a few zombies. Last I saw of him was him high-tailing it away from the town with about 15 zeds chasing him. Not sure if he lived or died.
