    Wet shaders

Fair enough, but its not crap. Its the little details that separate a good game and a standard Bohemia game. Lets see if they can pull these things off.
  2. At what point can we start getting legitimately upset/inpatient for this Zombie game to actually have interesting, scary, deadly zombies? Last day of Beta? I am most looking forward to zombies, ragdoll (better than ARMA 3, pleaaase) and 100% improved sound. I know sound will be sometime in beta and I am ok with that. Zombies we need sooner than later to keep this game interesting. And ragdoll, I understand this can be a challenge in a multiplayer environment.
  3. How does everyone in the DayZ universe know how to sew clithing, breakdown and clean weapons, use debibrillators, fly helicopters. None of those things are known when born. I didnt learn how to properly clean an M4 untill I joined the military. I still couldnt properly sew clothing back together. This is an opportunity for a good mechanic to add to the worth of a character. Find books that teach this to each character you have. Make it so if you spend so much time next to someone who already read that skill book you can learn it too.
  4. Please explain to me how storage can make a game....not boring? please... "Yay, I can now put my lewts in a tent..... ok my tents filled up, games boreing again!" Grow up.

The bullet that broke the bambi's back

I SUCK SUCK SUCK with a jeyboard and mouse. I had always been a console gamer and so when I moved to PC shortly after Arma 2 came out in 2009 I had a rough time of it. Games with aim assist like Battle Field werent so bad but Arma, my god. So recently I have noticed that anytime I get into a PvP sitchu I get my ass handed everytime. The problem is I dont practice enough I think. I may have to switch to KoS gameplay style, at least for a while to practice defending myself once I go back to my normal play style. :-/
  6. On the grounds of DayZ which is suppose to be an antigame/realistic/authentic. It is cheating because you are essentially metagaming and doing things outside the realms of "reality" that give you a unrealistic advantage, especially when the game gives you everything you need to communicate IN game. Granted, voip needs work and again nothing can stop people using it, but yes, I do equate it to cheating. You can call me a "moron" all you like. It does'nt fit in with the DayZ experience, IMO.
  7. Does everyone agree how much cooler the in game system can be compared to using "cheats" like TS3 and mumble. I see using those programs to be as much as cheating as gamma exploits, server hopping and combat logging to be honest. It just isnt in tune with the game and realism. You cant secretly and telepathically communicate with people so it kills immersion and now you are secretly talking tactics with someone to flank an enemy that cant hear you when in reality they could. There is something so awesome about using in game radios that have range, signal degredation from absortion and distance. Having to use head sets to not broadcast your buddies coms over the net. Batteries going dead etc. The more complex this game is the better. I always wanted to just be hiking along and all of a sudden hear a scary, survival disrtress signal come over the radio ever since I saw 28 days later and the whole "salvation is here" message comes on the radio. I always thought it would be so immesive. When radios came in I immediately grabbed one and tried to get some coms going with others. Nothing.....dead silence. I knew the devs werent going to be creative with the backstory, at least not untill the beta. So, I decided I'd take some time and broadcast so that others could hear it and get that awesome sence of wonder and immersion. I hoped it would spike some interest and use of ingame coms vs meta gaming tech like TS3. That being said, noone heard it for days. Noone even knew the radios worked. haha, I sat at the top of the power plant smoke stack broadcasting sometimes for hours at a time and kept an eye on the forums to see if the interest had been sparked. Nothing. So I had to feign finding it myself and reporting it here. Name dropping and such was something I really wanted to avoid as it was going to be kind of ovbious it was me. I server hopped.....A LOT and broadcast among many servers for hours, but still noone ever heard any broadcast on other servers. Luckily interest stayed strong and I hope you guys had fun with it as that was the true main purpose of this all. NOT TO TROLL OR PRANK, but to create atmosphere for the game. After all, its our story right? And the devs are being very slow about making it creepy, ominous or "Apocalypse feeling". So hopefully now more people are aware that the radios in game work. Will it stop the metagming that I hate so much? No. I am not naive but it was still fun to see everyone s reactions and having fun with it. It put a big smile on my face. I hope that all of you will take the reigns and create similar content across servers for the countless THOUSANDS of players out there that don't even know these forums exist or that this transmission ever happened. So the first time they hear it they will also get that feeling of excitement. How did I do it? Very simple actually and I was actually laughing when Id see posts about how "professional" it sounded. I simply played a youtube video of UVB-76, recorded with my iPhone and using this website http://text-to-speech.imtranslator.net/ played the coordinates to Green Mountain over and over again for a couple seconds. I spaced the numbers with ..... and pushed the speed down to -3. It sounded preatty legit so I then took the recording and had to continuously hit play over and over again into the VOIP mic since iPhones voice memo app does not have a loop feature. It was tedious to say the least and after a while got boring. So while I am glad everyone had fun with it, I could not sustain the tedious transmissions, ESPECIALLY since noone EVER heard it on any of the other servers I played it on. lol So frustrating lol. Anyway, I dont mean to disappoint anyone or kill the fun, just thought i'd spill the beans since I have not been transmitting for a while now and they have gone silent. I WILL however one day transmit again for the benefit of those not active on this forum who would get a kick out of hearing it crackle over the air waves. If anyone is interested in doing the same, let me know and I can post the audio file on drop box. TLDR:: It was me!!! Trolololol. No, it was fun, hope you all had fun to. P.S:: The morse code signal was a copy cat. I had nothing to do with that one. But glad to see people taking the reigns.

When are we going to see music?

Sadly my friend, probably never. In one of Deans streams he and brian both mention that they dont know if music fits with the "realism" they are going for. I for one think its bull. People that don't want music can just lower the volume. I love the music personally.
  9. Couldnt be further from reality but ok. The closest we can come to a realistic version of "healing" a broken bone is to have a 2 part healing/crafting system. You need to make a splint to imobolize the fracture and than also use the morphine. In reality it takes months for bones to heal and you cant be walking around on them but hey it IS a game.

The current implementation of the logout timer is trollish.

    obvious loot farmer is obvious
  11. Has anyone asked the dev team to confirm or deny this? They are actually really good about interfacing with the comunity. If they straight out say no, most likely it is player created. If they act mysterious or give to the ol' winky face, then anything is possible. They wont 100% confirm though i bet.
  12. I don't know about you all but I was and still am in love with the DayZ music. I dont know who conducted/made it but it was top notch creepiness and fit so well into the game. The clanging of metal parts in factories just fit perfect. I understand some peoples desire to not have music for immersions sake but there really isn't any good reason for the devs not to at least add what was in the mod if not add more tracks to it. Lets be honest, as of now, DayZ is NOT scary. But it has the possibility of giving even the bravest of people a bad EKG reading with the right mix of music, sound design, effective lighting, weathers, zombie AI and player interaction. The music was the ONLY thing paired with the intense player interaction that made my hair on the back of my neck stand up. If you don't like it or want the 100% realism immersion then all that you have to do is move that slider to the left. I am tired of having to keep manually looping this in the background while playing lol. It just isn't the same since it's just all the soundfiles played one after another. Anyone else do this? Also, does anyone know WHO actually made those tracks? Was it Dean?

    The new Magnum sound..

DICE does an amazing job of it....I understand Bohemia is not a AAA company but they just sold like a AAA alpha so they need to get their ass in gear and start investing them million into recording like one. Can someone else make a video then if its not as bad as it was in the orginal vid.
  14. I asked the lead animation guy at DayZ devteam (I assume he is) about changing out those sad gorilla monkey man zombie chase anims. His tweet was promising to say the least. 2 things that I have to see for my personal wallet vote on any more BIS products is top notch sound re-haul and some solid zombies in DayZ. This is hopefully proof they are addressing what rocket has said in the past is his "least favorite aspect" of DayZ. He never clarified if he meant, in their current state, or a feature he could care less about so.... We'll see. https://twitter.com/24VictorKane/status/429332116351225856
  15. huh? Did you notice the S behind ModS. As in various other, multiple mods. Arma 3 Breaking Point. Those animations in that mod are good. I didnt mean the DayZMOD.

    The new Magnum sound..

    Yay! I knew it
  17. A vague response is better than none. I cant wait to see if they come through on this. DayZ mods have freakier more "infected" style anims.

    Longest Surviving Character?

Eh, losers if anyone would waste their time to be at the top of the leaderboards. Anyway maybe we can get a AFK check or timer. And also they would starve unless they came back frequently enough.
  19. Yah I had mentioned that earlier. Sun sprite is visible everywhere.

    The new Magnum sound..

Honestly, like some have already pointed out, I think this is in error. It sounds exactly like the makarov from the mod/arma 2. So I feel as though maybe it got missed when they were compiling or something. Because it sounds absolutely pathetic and worse than the last sound it had. So either the dev team is trolling us or they made a mistake but that is NOT the new sound. It cant be. Edit:: Also, the mosin sound while a nice difference sound way to light. Why is it so difficult for BIS to make good sound? The mosin needs some serious bass. It's a 7.62mm round in a long rifle. It should sound bassier. The animations also need some tweaking. I am just annoyed at Bohemias lack of polish. Get the animation of the bolt and the hand movement in sync for gods sake.
  21. Those signals from the video rydekk posted are seriously freaky.
  22. Also... BUG: Cannot be killed from falls. I jumped of a building multiple times to end it all and could not be killed. Fell from the top of cherno apts. Something is up there. On experimental build.
  23. Does someone have or can someone make a video of the new weapon sounds? Magnum and mosin? I am really curious but havnt been able to find a can of beans lately let alone weapons. Thanks.
