    The Community/Game as of 1.7.0

    Yes, it had changed alot but BETTER since the beta patch. Since global chat was removed, at least on US hardcore servers I have ran into 5 people all who have wanted to finnaly talk to someone, talk about where theyv been and what they were doing. This is the best thing thats happened to DayZ. People are finnaly lonely without global chat. Iv ran into 3 who traded with me, and 2 who just talked about expiriences and knoledge.     Ok folks, we are making progress. Slowly but surely. We are looking good in the vehicle and supplies department. Just need more dedicated guards from all diff time zones to help. All this is useless if we dont have the guards to protect and regulate trade and protect the sight. If anyone is on now, 2216 PST June 12 hit me up on here. We can meet up and work some stuff. Let me just say to all true survivors who are readin this thread. Non bandit/griefers. The more of you guys that sign up to guard or even utilize and visit trading post delta, the less bandits and griefers will infiltrate and bother the "safe zone" Please join me in this endevour. Just remember that if you want to join we are not utilizing any out of game comms. Only direct chat and in game radios (once available)

    Sense of Smell and Campfires...

    I had been planning on suggesting this! +1 dude. This is a major negative to campfires that is needed. Prob easy to script as well as long as wind isnt taken into effect. May I also suggest, not to thread jack, sound effects to chopping wood. A negative that is needed there and also very easy to add.

    Im not arguing with pimply faced introverts on a zombie game forum. It seems to be a well liked pass time for them. Im still down for the idea, but i guess I should specify MY project is realism based with in game chat only. No TS3 ventrillo UNLESS like ACRE it requires you have in game communications. I dont plan to type text, i dont see why anyone would do that in a combat or dangerous scenario. Its more time consuming. Please pm me with your desire/commitment to play with in game mechanic comm only. Im sorry to those seriously interested, who arent getting all weird about not using TS3. Just PM ME ONE LAST TIME. And i will move forward to set up the meet time and we can get started.

    What an utterly toxic response to a polite observation. I don't think it's Amentes who has the attitude problem. Why in the world you would harbour such bitterness towards the use of voice comms in a mil sim with your background is mind-boggling. I don't think that not trying reflects a 'shitty attitude' when it's because the proposal requires adhering to needless, arbitrary self-imposed limitations that drastically reduce the effectiveness of your communication and organisation in an already hostile environment. That's just a healthy dose of sanity and self-preservation. And there was I thinking survival was at the core of this game. In addition, the radio feature you suggest is totally redundant unless the mod actively prevented people from using ventrilo/teamspeak, because who in the hell would bother with a radio you would have to find, could lose, and could be subsequently compromised by? Nobody in their right mind would use it for day-to-day operations, especially in large groups. As such there is nothing 'unauthentic' about teamspeak/ventrilo; you are superimposing your own ideals onto those of Rocket, then declaring that other people who don't follow your own brand of logic to have 'shitty attitudes'. You know what else isn't 'authentic' by your standards? Reincarnation. Perhaps next time you die, you should uninstall the game never to return. Haha dude. Rocket actulley mentioned that very thing. He said hed put it in for the people that want to play the challenging realitic simulator way. There is nothing milsim about ventrillo. In the real world your radio can be lost and communication compromised. You clearly arent seeing i understand the importance of comm but that dosent mean i wont wait and adapt until the more realistic game given mechanic exists.

    Fixed that for ya. Yes, zombies spawn at Green Mtn. No, there is nothing to loot there. "but the ultimate desicion is based on whats best for the air force." In this case, what's best for us is being able to communicate. People have offered us TS servers to use, it would be both stupid and rude to turn down their offers. Also, @OP: While I'm eager to be a part of this and try, you've got to accept that most people here are casuals. Most people here haven't had any military experience. Most people don't give a rat's ass about chain of command. By saying stuff like "I'll talk about the location with my team", you only distance yourself from the rest of us. Aren't we going to be your team? If you and "your team" want to be The Man, that's fine, but you'll have to accept that you'll be the target of much of our bitching. Also, there's no way to enforce "No TS3". If you don't want to use it, the rest of us will :/ Wow, preatty evident of the maturity level of the people here. I dont have time for this. Love how someone comes out with a forum to get a project started and than that project is jacked by others like rules or the way someones wants to run their own clan. If theres any reason this will fail is the character of some of the kids on here. I dont need the frustration of dealing with faceless names who wana give me a hard time. I will not struggle to get people in line with the vision of HOW I want to play. So i will take new applications for those who are interested in a non ts in game mechanics ONLY trading post. If i dont get any than oh well. I tried. To those making a huge deal about the ts3 vs radio thing. Your rediculous. This project would take time. By the time all supplies are gathered and location fortified rocket will have already implemented an ACRE like radio system. The same people who are not wanting to have to adapt without long haul communications are the same that want the game mechanics to be more forgiving.

    I will begin PMing everyone interested the location and date for the meet. If you are interested you have untill tommorow june 13th to pm me with most convinient time for u and name in game. This will not be our location. This is to discuss and get things started. We will begin tasks on this day. In addition, i will be passing you a sign-countersign. Do not give this to anyone. This is how i will id you as you approach the meet spot. Just to get this out there guys. I have never run a gaming clan. My expireince with managing and leading is solely military. I understand that its a game and many of you want to just have fun and your ideas suggestions made reality in the group. In the air force your ideas are usually heard and considered, but the ultimate desicion is based on whats best for the air force. So if ur idea is possible with the current build of the game i will consider it as effective or not and implement. In the Air Force if u dont like it or dont comply you can find your ass in levenworth. Lucky for u guys if you dont like it you can leave and start your own trading post :) so just keep that in mind going forward that in order for this to be successful it, like the military, cannot be a democracy. Not trying to be a dick or high and mighty. Just trying to level with any non military in here how i plan to go forward and give u guys a headsup.

    Ok guys, I am active duty air force combat communications. I understand the importance of communications for successful ops better than most. I kno it is going to be hard at first without ts3 but you guys have to understand this game is unique. It is an expirement. I want to play this game authentically the way rocket intended. We as a post apocalyptic company will. Eed to adapt. If we dont have radios we will have to shorten our range, stay in close contact. Use visual signals like flares, flashlights for morse code. We can make it easy for ourselves and cheat or we can adapt in fun and interesting ways. It will be that much cooler when and if we suceed if we did it the right way. And when rocket implements radios, which he will soon, than we can adapt again and extend our range, communicate more effectivly. Lets evolve with the game, the expirement. To those of you who say its not possible for 200 people to be organized with no comms. You are right. However, do u really think we will have a 200 man trading post anytime soon? I can almost guarentee u by the time we even have 20 dedicated people in his rocket will have implemented radios, spotlights, fortifications. Its going to take time to do this right. If you dont want to join me in his endevour without ts3 than whatever. This game is growing everyday and there will be others who will, or maybe not and he project will fail before it starts Oh well. Its a game, a good one but a game. I wont cry or be upset if people jump ship cuz they want the easy route. We can make this happen authentically and it will be a funner, scarier and riskier task. So if u were previously interested but feel u dont want to try without ts3 please pm me to let me know. I am a SSGT, iv been through leadership training, SERE, and combat arms training. I will lead this operation to success or a glorious failure but only if i have manpower behind me. Let me know.

    I think I have my location down to 2 locations. Despite my best efforts there arent a lot of locations suitable, at least not with the current mechanics. It will have to be the lesser of 2 evils. This operation will not include teamspeak. I know alot of you are thinking it will fail this way but I am sticking to using what rocket gives us in game. If he gives us in game radios we willl use that. If it fails because of this decision than so be it. TS3 is cheating. Period. If we have no radios than we dont. Time will tell. And we will get more effective as more mechanics come about. Untill than we will try with what we have to give the idea a go. I appreciate everyones input. I will discuss the logistics of the 2 locations in mind with my team. If you would like to be a part please PM me so we can set u up with time and place for first in game meeting

    i dont particularly care for ts3. i am in line with more realistic servers and game play style. Direct only as far as im concerned. By the way im PMing all interested players who have PMed me with a time and date to meet up in server to meet, discuss and investigate a possible location. I am also doing "background checks" on applicants for previous bandit like posts on the forums so dont even apply if you have talked like a bandit in the past. Ok so again, just to reiterate, if you are interested and have said so in the posts send me a PM. I will be doing searches for banditry in previous posts and will be suspicious of people that look like they made new accounts just to gried this operation. I will once, trusted, send you the location we are going to meet at to scout and date and time. When you send me a PM send me your name on steam or in game and what time is best for you. I will try and hit at a time that is closest to everyones time.

    This may be significantly harder than I originally thought and only because of zombies spawning at all structures on chern. Either we find a suitable place where no zombies spawn, rocket implements better fortification design or rocket implements a take location and hold from zombies spawning.

    Yes, guns will be allowed in. It's too much problems otherwise. Its just going to take vigilant guards. A bandit will not leave it alive so only griefers who dont really care about their "lives" will try anything I could down the zombies but they will just spawn up all the time thats not a "safe" zone. It will require rocket to impelement a take and hold mechanic for cities and spawn areas, hopefully soon.

    -It will have to have walls. Whether right now or in the future when fortifications are expanded. -Walls are essential. -High position for overwatch essential. -High point Prefereably around the front entrance. Located somewhat close to a water source. -Be in a convienient location for traveling survivors. -Not be too far from coast for guards & new players. -Be on higher ground than the area around it.

    If we implement the island we would need to have a boat to ferry customers. Are boats even around in DayZ yet? Its not the most convienient spot for traders just passing through or survivors wanting a chat with fellow survivors. I like landlocked a bit more by the island is more of a detterent against passing griefers

    Yes, it will be hard. There will be "griefers". Thats what will make it fun for the guards of TPD. We will probably get hit, ALOT. But its worth it, it will be fun. It will provide people a safe place to trade stuff. If you find 2 compasses and 2 Maps and you want to see what people may have in a "safe" enviroment come on down to TPD and see if you cant find someone who wants a map more than his AKSU he found. Its a plausible, fun, useful idea that I am fully commited to creating. But I need help from like minded survivors who are willing to put in work. YOU WILL GET TO SHOOT BANDITS. THERE WILL BE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT TO ENSURE NO INNOCENT ARE KILLED. Let me know who is interested. This is perfect for all you "DAYZ needs and objective blah blah types" I need a second in command. Couple things from rocket and the dev team that would help make this even more possible sooner. - Spotlights - Fortifications - Search character action (This would help tremondously. Guards could search traders entering for explosives) - Booby Traps - Radios (So guards can communicate on encrypted channels AND so TPD can advertise to others with radios) - Ability to post advertisement posters in cities and roads
  21. In the book how to survive a zombie apocalypse the author suggests to the reader that they should read read read. Gain as much knowledge about everything that you can. Navigation, mechanics, first aid, water purification, distilling alcohols. You will need to be a jack of all trades to survive. Not every person who spawns should know how to apply bloodpacks efficiently, or repair a helicopter, or even fly one. A class system is too consoley and easy. But what if you add the power of knoledge to your character that you have created. Now not only have you strove to make your character as geared up and prepared as possible but also educated by searching for and reading books. The books would not be full fledged prints but rather collectable items that take a few second animation to read and than you now have the ability to use and perform certain actions. Drop and leave the book or keep it. Hide it so you are now valuable. Whatever. Its up to you. The books subjects would be MANY. But only a set amouint of each on each server. They would allow you to do CPR. Use bloodpacks more effeciently, Repair a vehicle. Fly a helicopter. Drive a tank. The list goes on and on. This system could be easily implemented the same way many ranks could not fly airplanes or use vehicles in game modes like warfare and domination. Make the books extreamly rare, in fact, only have 2 of each book somwhere in the server at one time. That way there are only 2 mechanics on the server, or 2 pilots. People will than become more valuable to other players. Sure youve collected all the stuff you need to repair a helicopter but you dont have a mechanic who read the helicopter repair book. Than once its repaired now you need someone skilled in piloting said helicopter. More fun things to search for, adds more value to your character and adds more value to your character to other players. Edit- I will add ideas for books and skills as I come up with them or are offered ideas to help rocket out in thinking of books if he so decides to implement this system. Only 2 of each spawn on any one server. -UH 60 Repair Manual -UH 60 Piloting Manual -UH 60 Gunner Manual -BloodPack and IVs Pamplet (More effective blood regen) -CPR Pamplet - Land Nav Manual (Perhaps gives some advantage to that players navigation) - Phychology Textbook - Regen others humanity/morality whatever system is implemented - Diesal Generator Manual - Electrician Textbook (Repair powerplant system)

    Hmm, while I didnt think of the breaching from another server I will say this. With 10 guards overwatching a set amount of patrons, you'd instantly be killed after the first shot u take. Plus we will notice your instant appearance and shoot u anyway. Try me big guy. But thanks for the headup about that exploit.
