You are an angry angry man. I agree this engine is archaic and I wonder often about Bohemia management and developer skill set but lighten up. You don't have to buy it if you don't like it. What do you hope to accomplish with this thread? -

I just wish we had heard something from Rocket on the matter of stats and what he thinks about them. I don't recall ever hearing him mention it for the SA.

Yes please. Should of made a poll. I think statistics would add so much to the game without ruining the anti game direction Rocket is going for. Hell when he first made the mod and website it had a leader board and stats but it never worked for the entirety of the mods life as far as I know. So Stats are kind of true to the DayZ experience. Hell I'll be happy with 2 stats. Longest Time Survived and Current Time Survived (With current character) That way people can always have something they are striving for. To break their best survival time. It adds something to the value of your life other than your gear. You are 10 minutes from breaking your last goal and all of sudden someone kills you. You are going to be pissed! Which adds to how this game simulates the fear of death. Lost gear and lost leader board position.

What do you guys think of the Breaking Point animations in the video? (tried to embed the video but its not working). I feel like those are deffinately a step in the right direction and I wonder why on earth a modding group could do this and the DayZ devs decided on gorilla man. Can anyone shed light? Im not an expert on mocap and implementing animations in game. It all just seems so lazy. Or do they just not have the skill set?

Yeah, Namalsk was scary but I felt like the sounds were too canned. I would like to see sounds in the distance that are real and caused by something concrete like zombies, animals or players. The game already has sound for when your character walks through certain flora like reeds in the swamp and such. If they could apply sounds to people touching fences or sheet metal that would be awesome and add immersion.

At last, I have arrived. After many a zombie hit, getting shot at, and the long arduous march from Berenzino, I have placed this Hoxton mask down at this most holiest of sites and pray that the wiggle master will bestow the dark magic of Hoxton upon me. PRAISE BE TO HOXTON!

I am currently on the pilgrimage to lay a Hoxton mask at this holiest of sites. I believe all non-KoSers should make this pilgrimage. Place a Hoxton mask there and do a wiggle in memory of this most tragic of tragedies. Now I just need to find it. lol

Can we just please have a simple STAT system in the menu? I think that would help add some value to life other then mad lewts. Which I think is needed. We have to find a way to simulate the instinct for survival that a human has. The more you value your virtual life in DAYZ the better the game will get. The more heart pounding zombie and human encounters will be. As long as different mechanics are added that help counter the KoS dilemma I think adding more value is necessary to making this game even better. I also like a subtle non intrusive realistic skill system. And then of course the beard idea is awesome that someone suggested in another "add more value to life thread".

I also agree that BI prices their games like Triple A titles but doesn't deliver triple A titles. That being said we all have a choice whether to purchase or not, and it seems everyone here had enough faith in them to purchase non the less. -

Listen everyone can bitch and moan to the OP but he has a valid point. On the other hand there really isnt any point to posting this because it wont and really cant change. Not unless BI decides to invest in the creation of a more modern engine. I can only hope BI does the right thing and invest in that so that DayZ 2 can be a triple A title that skyrockets BI into the mainstream. I think they deserve that too because they are a passionate bunch. I would question their buisness/development strategy for both DayZ and Arma 3 though. Some bad decisions and empty promises were made on both accounts. -

The ARMA engine is like 15 years old or something like that. It's ancient with ancient features and ancient capabilities. Even the ARMA III engine is built on top of this 15 year old core engine. I would love to see them build a new engine too. I think it's time. A lot of people will defend them on this but 15 years is a long time. I agree with you on the static-ness of the game but that probably wont change at anytime during DayZs development process. Its a core engine issue and I really hope that BIS takes the money they make from this game and starts working on a new engine. I think their loyal fans deserve as much at this point. It is almost 2014 after all and like you said, destructible environments and physics engines are becoming standard. That being said I don't agree with you on the transparency of development. No company in the world is like BIS in their interaction with their community. -

No bandit skins! How is that realistic dude? I just said, the majority of heros dont wear helms and gas masks, bandits do, so that is your bandit skin right there for now.

I have been traversing the coast now for 2 days giving out water, bandages and even a pistol. (didnt give him ammo for my safety). I too am only wearing a black/white checkered shirt and a beanie. I do believe the idea of bandits usually clad in helmets and gasmasks is taking hold. Its almost as though a humanity system has created itself in game without the use of unrealistic mechanics. Kinda cool.
