How "safe" do you play ?

I always head inland the moment I spawn, then I find one barn to get a good weapon even with scarce ammo. Then I try to find another near barn or even better, a city with enterable civilian houses. If I spot a player that is about 400-500 meters away I tend to avoid them and try not to waste my ammo just to kill them (I never take the sniper rifle since it's not my cup of tea). If contact is at 200 meters or below, I try to flank the target then shoot him/her at a range of 50-100 meters. -
If DayZ was Real, how would you act?

Well, since it's real life.. I'd best go gather up my (alive) friends and go out on the nearest gun store which is loaded with bullet proof vests, handguns and shotguns while beside a burger store and across the street; a convenience store all these locations about 300m away from my house which is quite a short walk. How to deal with 1.7.2 zombies

Maybe I might just try this playstyle.. after all I have a civilian yellow flashlight and a military flashlight(which I never used before) on my toolbar/toolbelt. But I might want to find a G17 since having it's flashlight + a pistol means you get to defend yourself at direct contact.. because switching from my military flashlight to the 249 SAW may take seconds but every second counts when you're spotted :) Thanks for the advice! -
Just wanted to share this to the people still unaware that DayZ adds a Zombie Face to your userconfig/playe profile option.. which was quite awesome when I discovered it!!

You're human, you slowly regain it slowly from time to time.. best thing to do is blood transfusion, but if you're mostly a lone hunter as like myself you should find a cow or any other four-legged animal and gut it from it's meat and cook it.. that'll fix you up!

You need to know, DayZ is the mod.. ArmA II is the game. You're upgrading your PC for the game, not the mod.. unless it enhances the textures, adds more particles, etc

Don't respawn, chase players around pretending you're a zombie.. enjoy!

If you foresee being a zombie similar to Left 4 Dead (2).. then you would be sadly disappointed since it won't be that "cool" making sounds every 2 seconds when trying to sneak up a player.. and let's be honest; does being a zombie have more than one goal than killing players? I guess not :P

Anybody know if there are parachutes?

In ArmA 2 vanilla, once you hit that eject button in any type of aerial vehicle you will automatically have a parachute opened with you on the way down.. I'm not confident about it on DayZ -
Hell, at least spawn with a crowbar.. it's a lot weaker than the hatchet and can substitute for a starter weapon

Remember, @DayZ or (optional) the beta patch should be on your game when playing DayZ. Having anything other than those two can affect it drastically -

Had this idea popped into my noggin' earlier that maybe making a story or book out of DayZ would be fairly decent. The story would be about a retired british soldier named Robert Grey. Title(planned): The Green Apocalypse Plot:Robert Grey, 25-year-old retired British Soldier after 3 years of service in Takistan he was forced to retire due to the gapping wounds he received from an AKM's short burst with the caliber of a 7.62x39mm that crippled him when it hits his right leg two times and his left thigh once. After the incident that happened 2 years ago but the wounds were still causing him pain once in a while even though it looked healed from the outside. 2016, massive activities have been reducing the Chernorussian population by over 20 body counts per day. It kept rising per week, it rose up to 60 body counts per 20 hours. Word has it that the Russian Army was testing a new developed WMD. But that theory was later disregarded since the Russian Army wouldn't test the weapon among their own people. The UK Government just couldn't take it anymore. The death tolls just kept getting higher and higher by the second. They decided to perform a secret operation, named Operation Delta Alpha Yankee Zulu, also known as DAYZ. It was to infiltrate the whole country and to find out what was going on in there. Over 200 Active/Retired Soldiers volunteered for the operation, including Robert due to the rewards that tempted him. Over the weeks he discovered this was no operation, this wasn't a one week operation as they expected it also. It was a wasteland that teemed with enemies they had never expected. Opinions welcome, I'm still between the option of continuing it or not. But if people actually are interested, I am more than motivated to do so. :)

Veteran/Intermediate players of ArmA II is used by just "simply" holding the W keys.. I don't know why you FNG's can't take it :l.. btw good innovative post for all the ones too lazy to press a key! :D

"White spots" highlighting zombies/players

"Peripheral Dots" very realistic, and similar to how your eyes pertain to movements that are out of your field of vision, but in ArmA 2 they simulate it as white dots -
not necessary for "infected meat" instead it would just be a meatless carcass with nothing to loot from, besides cows mostly spawn in the wilderness.. I like it

I don't like it, why? It tames the world with NPC's.. by "tame" I meant players will now have a often goal. A sandbox game allows the player to think of more objectives himself than a programmer could script in DayZ, creativity sets you free :P

Like Endermen from Minecraft? But ArmA 2 style? I like it, but not actually replace the hoppers or monkeys in-game.. more of a new addition to the horde, in a rare chance though

They should get the fire animation from the I44 mod, and maybe a different looking flamethrower.. and let's be honest to fire a flame thrower you require the fuel tank strapped to your back which replaces your backpack. that would balance it good, eh?

Greenhound, Battlefield 3 is full of particles, detail that makes it look realistic, and more particles.. ArmA 2 on the other hand is not really full of particles but still has some of it, but the objects in chernaurus is more than 1,000,000 including the trees, so when you load the map you load all the 1,000,000 objects.

How does one find out their co-ordinates?

If you have a map, it's just like the cartesian coordinate system. X or the vertical part are the first digits, Y or the horizontal part are the second part of the whole coordinates.. example: 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 03 04 05 . 06 07 08 09 10 The dot is at grid reference or grid square 0205 -
