right now it's free because it's only a mod. but in the future, it'll probably be sold as a standalone - obviously with more features. i personally think the arma 3 version of dayz will be sold as standalone, seeing as how most dayz players don't play arma anyways. hopefully arma 3 buyers will get it for free ;)

very much agreed. the game was bad enough with cz550's and dmrs - now we have ridiculous .50 cal sniper rifles with ammo up the ass. banditry is too easy - just camp a hill in your ghillie and take pot shots at passing players. rather, you should be forced to use close-range civilian firearms, relying on cunning and strategy to get the upper hand in engagements. right now, whoever has the better gun wins. it shouldn't be like this at all. -
or...how about we remove the OP military sniper rifles and ridiculous thermal sights.

karma, or "humanity", is already in game. it's just being recorded behind-the-scenes and will be put to use in the future for something else. -
It was removed because the game became black and white. Spare survivors and shoot bandits. It removed the tension from meeting a new player and deciding whether or not to trust them. Actually there was a legitimate reason: it's unrealistic. I would imagine that an addition of a radio would re-enable global chat for players - maybe it's something they'll implement in a future update.

the thermal sight is ridiculous, as are .50cal military sniper rifles in the context of a "survival" game.

Did you even read my thread? I didn't post it for trolling. I posted it so less fortunate player's could have an option. yes i read it, but 1500m is practically the bare minimum anyways. if you're having problems now, reducing it to 500m or so won't make too much of a difference anyways. there comes a point when you can't lower settings any further, and you just need to increase your computer's horsepower.
