    [1.5.8.4] Using items on other players

    I have this same problem, however, if you hold your middle-mouse button down while looking away, then drag it over your friend, the context menus will pop up, then you can scroll and click to select your preferred action. Not ideal I know but it works. It also works for other actions such as interacting with backpacks, dead bodies, fallen animals and campfires etc... Hope this helps!
