I really like the idea of a profession like project zomboid but just tone them down a bit (so 'useful' rather than 'necessary', something like: Nurse - can heal +300 when bandaging other players (not usable on self) Military - can range-find or navigate without the use of a compass Police officer - can auto remove panic and disarm weapons with melee Short order chef- can convert beans/sardines to slightly higher value food +400 Tradesman - can assemble/disassemble wire/sandbags/fence without toolkit Fisherman - can fish, gut and clean them Mechanic - gets a x2 repair for each item used Cab driver - improved vehicle handling and speed Pilot (as you mentioned) - faster take off and whereas everyone can fly a chopper maybe only the pilot can use the auto stabilize Accountant (bean counter) - can combine/split ammo stacks but yeah i don't think there should be any "leveling" of skills and learning others - this game isn't about character development, more about player development.
fine, here's the overly dramatic rationale: "We now exist in a world that has gone to hell. Nothing is fair. The value of life is low. In the past money was power. The coin itself represents a world that we try to cling on to in vain. In this new world the coin holds a different power.. not through trade, influence or greed.. but through chance. Everyone understands a coin toss. It is a simple yes or a simple no. Chance makes as much sense as anything else.. in a place like this..." so, heads or tails?
I want to see a coin toss emote/action. The coin toss will announce to people within a very short distance whether heads or tails has landed. This would be ideal for group situations where a decision has to be made or simply to torment some poor victim. Cuts out all that unnecessary debate/begging. Cant argue with fate! practical situations: Meet a stranger - friend or foe? flip.. Find an injured player, to heal or ease their suffering? flip.. Make a run for the barn or head for the hills? flip.. Bunny live or bunny die? flip!
