I know people who are waiting to buy the standalone because they didn't want to pay for ArmA 2. I expect to see a new DayZ renaissance once standalone is released, especially when people see that hackers won't be nearly as bad, the game is more stable, and there are a lot of exciting new features coming around (still not sure about defecation, though.

As a bandit, I agree with this. The game should be more difficult to add to the fun. If there is a sniper in elektro/cherno, it should be a big deal because zombies will converge on his position. I would love to see the snipers crap their pants when they realized that their bambi kill had just resulted in a few dozen zombies running to their location. However, more zombies = more lag, as even servers have difficulty accounting for several hundred AI calculations, plus it would be a strain on the clients to render that much.

If he wants to know how to fly, don't let him use your heli. Tell him to go into ArmA 2, open up boot camp, and do the helicopter training missions. Then tell him to go into the armory and fly the Mi-17 around for awhile, just to get used to the flight controls. You can become proficient in a couple hours or so without risking your precious helicopter.

Hmm...sounds like an error related to the "logging out while unconsious" punishment.

Good video, sucks that you got shot. However, going to cherno and surviving on a high pop server is an achievement in of itself, especially with such nice loot.

I hate spambots

I don't own a server myself, but I have heard of an issue where the heli spawns underwater. You might want to check the logs on the server to see if there is any evidence of it being there.

What is up with the borny population on these forums? You would think that a brutal and unforgiving game like DayZ would scare away those "Friendship is Magic" guys.

I spawned near a small town and decided to go in. I aggro'd some zombies and got hit, started bleeding. I panicked and jumped into a nearby bay. When I got to the center of the bay, I tried to bandage myself and discovered that I couldn't open my inventory in the water. I swam to the other end of the bay, my blood dropping as I desperately tried to get to the shore. I got there and bandaged myself, and I only had about 500 blood left. I saw a deer stand with zombies around it, and tried to get there in the horrible, blurry black-and-white mess that was the world around me. I was crawling around the zombies to get to the deer stand when one of them walked right on top of me, aggro'd, and killed me. That was how I learned that this game does not fuck around.

If you don't like snipers, don't whine on the forums and feed the trolls. Grab a gun, go onto the highest population server, and kill them. We all know where Killjoy hangs around (on the highest pop server sitting up on Death Mountain), so take him out. Do what Sacriel did and counter-snipe our DMR-wielding bretheren at Cherno and Elektro. When you attack them on the forums all you will get is LOLs and overused internet memes.
