  1. ALSO: Flies still happening around buried/despawned dead bodies.
  2. Honestly I think the investigate script is only handy when they are not as lightning fast as they are now AND without super senses.

    Zombies after patch 7.1.1.4

Zombies seem to be faster and basically able to divine your location no matter what, it seems. I was having no problems today. Now, spawning and taking a few steps aggros the closest zombies.
  4. Alright, so I'm not sure what changed since last night, however I ran into the following: crouched zombies run as fast as I do. can't lose them or get to a point where I can hide. Finally ran into a case of zombie supervision. I was running from two crouched zombies on a hill far above a town, and suddenly I see one of the random zombies in the town run straight for me. I believe I was in Kaminka, in the forested hill overlooking the town. Zombie speed may be excessive, but the detection radius was definately so.

    DELETED BY USER

Disregard, issue with servers not me.
  6. Kill squad was going through cherno and electro on the server I was on.
  7. I would say that this is untrue, and a good example of why is the hotfix topic.
  8. More on topic: I would say that just not being aggressive / etc would help, but I have yet to see a constructive post be met with anything other than derision.
  9. Exactly what would you want elaboration on? My view, or my interactions with bandits? As for the other guy, I believe his point was that this patch made it easier to kill random people. Not that he was boasting about his abilities.
  10. We are people playing a free proof of concept alpha mod that isn't even a game yet. We want it to be a AAA shiny' date=' polished game, and it's not, which is sometime really, really, really frustrating. What i don't get, is why a subset of us, namely people like you, think there are going to make things any better by insulting the guy who originally developped this mod for free, and for a target audience of 150 players, total. Maybe you should consider you actually are the moron(s) by being so utterly, despicably and openly agressive. As I want to behave like a civilized, mature guy, like you should, I won't even tell my deepest feelings about you and your behavior, but I think you'll guess on your own. [/quote'] I would propose that maybe people like him are openly aggressive, because everywhere you go on this forum you see people being openly aggressive towards people doing what they are supposed to do in an alpha and post criticisms/feedback about whats been done. the biggest problem here is the subset of us who think that, as this is an alpha, all criticisms of the game should be tossed out the window and those who put them forth need to be lambasted.
  11. I believe that you do not understand the purpose of an Alpha. the fact that it is in alpha does not give people the right to throw abuse at people who have stated complaints about the game. There are more people throwing abuse at people doing what they're supposed to be doing - posting criticism at the game - than people throwing abuse at the admins.
  12. I don't see many fair ways to do this. Do we start a list of known trolls for people to ignore(with amnesty for past offenders if they want to play nice)? do we make our own community guidelines? Unfortunately this is the internet.
  13. Yet to be determined on the griefing front. Like I said, I have my view on it, and it seems to be supported by what I've seen people talking about in game, but I'm going to go check it out myself. I was pretty good at avoiding zombies before, I just kept dying from bandits. And only ONCE by a makarov bandit. As for the zombies? I agree as well...although apparently these are not dead people walking, but people infected with a virus. They need to be fast enough so that if you're not careful, they can hop up on you while you're unloading on something. They need to be slow enough so you can get some distance and duck into hiding. They need to be numerous enough so that when you're running from that first group, you might find a second group. PS: Hey look! constructive discussion! go team.
  14. My argument was about griefers, not zombies. I guess when I said, "I know the internet, and the internet likes to grief" I was using too much hyperbole. It means that people are going to die not by zombies, but by griefers who are farming kills on the coastlines. It takes all of 5 seconds for someone to scope you and shoot you. think you can find a gun to defend yourself in that time?
  15. You are right. He is pretty clear in how he has wanted things to turn out. Let us review the hotfix he's applying.... http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=13895

    Pending Hotfix: Build 1.7.1.1

General question to Rocket regarding vision ranges and zombie view mode. Is it possible to have two methods of visual detection on Zombies? Have the zombie be able to see based off of where the body is aimed, and have that be a good reasonable distance(I have more playtesting to do once the hotfix is out to see if the current range is reasonable or not). However, also have it detect based on where it is eyes are at, but have it be a much shorter range?
  17. actually, the biggest problem WoW had is that it started listening to the hardcore raid fans and suddenly it became a game about reaching max level and raiding bosses. When WoW first came out, it was a pretty fresh game all the way up to level 60...however now none of that is fresh, everything they add in is just as stale, and the only thing to do is raid high level instances for hours on end. The casuals did ruin some aspects of it. Cataclysm and Mysts of Pandera see a lot of the talent trees being shredded away. That being said, the complaint about the difficulty around zombies now isn't that they were made too difficult. A lot of us wanted them to be more difficult so that bandits had to work for their loot. the problem is now however that the vision isn't working as intended and is over sensitive...hence it's being rolled back. tl;dr: It's not that it's too hard, it's just not working as intended. The largest problem with this patch for me happens to be the lack of a gun. I know the internet, and the internet likes to grief, and nothing says free griefing like having players be unable to defend themselves. So proving me right about you does what exactly?
  18. This meme again? Tell me again why discussing problems with a game in alpha state is faggotry. WillyWonka.jpg (Apologies to whom I stole the meme tag from) Problems? Looks to me like a bunch of care bears whinging about the game being too hard. Protip: It's not. Go on, please keep showing me how a Real player of an Alpha test game acts. I mean after all, all the best games are made by people who yell and scream carebear at anyone who brings up an obvious problem with the game. Protip: If you make a post like Slapp's, you are an unproductive member of the community.
