How do you even know it was the heli that was the reason you were banned? Accsations can't be made lightly. -
I was leading some bambies through elektro on a new server one time, I had a makarov and enfield. We went into the school and one of them asked for a weapon, of course my sidearm is for killing zeds so I said no, I didn't have anything for them. He finds a makarov and walks over to me and shoots me in the back and starts moving for my head. I get a point blank headshot on him with the enfield and pass out before the ther bambi runs over and grabs his gun, then puts a round in my head as I'm passed out. I ask why he turned on me like that and he said it as because I lied to him about not having anything. I explained that I need that sidearm for killing zeds and he rages about it and leaves the server. I tracked down the other bambi eventually, he had found an M4A1 and I had a CZ. I put a round in his head and said in side "You put a bullet in my head earlier and I returned the favor now, I'd say we're even." and he left too.

Some people like the feeling of "power" they get from killing other players and feel they have a free hand to do whatever the fuck they want. A lot of the kill on sight CoD kiddies on DayZ would likely resort to cowering in their basements should an actual apocalypse overrun us.

What is the difference between a bandit and a coward?
unkillable94 replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A bandit in my opinion is someone who kills to better themselves. But if you: -kill unarmed players -kill fresh spawns -camp one of the airfields with a sniper -kill players with worse gear than you just for the sake of killing you are just a coward. Bandits are supposed to make you be more aware of yourself and your surroundings by having the possibility to always be near you, not go to the coast with an AS50 and kill anything that moves. In that case you are no longer a bandit but a CoD kiddie. -

Still recruiting, we are up to 11 active members and many more in reserve waiting for training. We carried out our first true combat training today and it went amazingly, no matter where you are on the battlefield you can now rest easy in the knowledge that whether you are advancing with our infantry fireteams or getting overwatch from our recon teams you will be in capable, skilled hands. And whether you decide to join or not, why not check out our new private hive? There is no better time to establish than now when the population is low (cap of 15 people on our second day with 80+ hits on the website and 40+ unique server joins) 50.97.49.79:3085 -

How to be "friendly" without getting killed?
unkillable94 replied to adunato's topic in New Player Discussion
All this talk about killing on sight is making me sick. It's an endless cycle, people get killed as a bambi and then think it's the only way to go, and it's killing the spirit of cooperation in the game. I lone wolfed for a long time, then met up with a few randoms and formed a group which we are now growing into a clan, and there is a huge difference. All of my best memories have been in these last 2-3 weeks with these random strangers I met online. Pick a good private hive and build a reputation. On our last server, the first night two guys helped me fix up a huey for nothing. I figured I would pay it forward and take a huge risk by giving people rides in the Huey. Instantly these two groups of people became my group's strongest allies for the time we were there and I wouldn't take back a second of it. Our clan tag became synonymous with heroes and helping people, and we got a good reputation. We moved around with almost no issues, and those few people who thought it would be a good idea to shoot on sight were hunted down and brought to justice by our friends. It is possible. Especially the people saying to befriend people then shoot them in the back, fuck you. You're ruining the game and acting like complete douchebags. There is banditry, there is turning the game into a CoD deathmatch, then there is being a flat out asshole. -

My first banditry experience, everything went better than expected. (For a while at least)
unkillable94 posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So my clan is a small, military structured one. We specialize in tactical assassinations and traps for those who wrong us or the bambis of whatever server we are currently on. One night after everyone in our 8-man group had logged save for myself and my second in command, we decided to mix it up a little bit and see what banditry was like. We joined a new server, met up, and created a plan. A guy was driving around Elektro in a military offroad. My buddy convinced him to give him a ride. The guy was talking about heading up to North East Airfield and kept mentioning he was in need of scrap metal. I mentioned in side chat that I had been killed about a kilometer outside NEAF and I knew where there was some scrap metal. My friend convinced him to pick me up as he went through Elektro, so I went to the church and waited. In the meantime, I went across the street to check the firestation, and as luck would have it I found a beautiful M16A2 and 3 Stanag mags. I returned to the church, and when I heard the distant engine I assumed the position. I lowered my weapon and saluted as the guy pulled up. I was told to get in, so I went around back and joined my friend on a bench in the back. For a while we switched between planning our betrayal in TeamSpeak to having a conversation with the guy in vehicle chat. He was nice enough, must have thought we were bambis because he explained every aspect of the game to us. Or he was a bambi himself and was eager to share his knowledge. Either way, it was pleasent to have a nice conversation with a random stranger who invited us for a ride in his offroad without meeting us prior. He even offered us backpacks and gear from his stash. I almost felt bad about what we were about to do to this nice guy, but then I thought of the offroad and it's massive loot. The guy we were going to help further sweetened the deal by offering to let us keep his betty van. (We were taking a tire up to repair it) This determined the location of where we would perform our first act of banditry. We basically had it figured out, when we arrived our driver would repair the wheel. I would excuse myself to grab a drink from the back of the truck and put a round from my M16 into his head as he was repairing the van. We continued our conversation the rest of the way, and it is true when they say that it is easier to kill someone you have only typed to, not talked with. We finally arrived and my friend and I disembarked. At this point the van was on the left of the offroad. My friend walked around the front right by the driver door and I crouched behind the vehicle. As our victim was kneeled down repairing, I leaned out, took aim, and BAM. One shot, one kill. This was a huge rush, I got in the driver seat and my buddy loaded into the van. By this point the whole server knew our clan tag and a hunt was mounted. Unfortunately, the van hit a rubble pile and exploded. My friend was knocked out and bleeding. I dragged him to safety, bandaged him and gave him a blood transfusion while side chat buzzed wih bounties being placed on our heads. We jumped in our newly aquired vehicle and headed into the woods. We decided to go to North West, and headed off. Funny enough, we found a fully repaired and fueled Huey in a clearing. This is where the happy part of our story ends. Out of nowhere a helicopter appears and we hide. My friend is spotted in a bush and immediately takes fire, although the gunner is a horrible shot. Then, with no warning I take fire. No gunshots, just enough rounds to wound me. Keep in mind that we were both in heavy cover, and that we went straight north and then west, traveling at least 6-7 clicks through pure wilderness. This was no coincidence. After we die, someone accues us of hacking. The server admin steps up in our defense, saying that the server lag makes it appear that people teleport at times, and it ends there. We feel like celebrities, the whole server is talking about us. We spawn pretty far apart, and move to meet up again, but it isn't meant to be. Near Krutoy Cap my friend takes LMG fire from a lighthouse. Again the attacker has shit aim, putting it nicely. The server lags, and it appears that everyone teleports a few meters forward. More shots, and my friend gets banned. I ask what happened, and the same admin that came to our aid banned him for the very reason he stated proved we were not in fact hacking. I ask for proof, as basically what I was getting was "we have a hunch" and I wanted something like logs showing a script was used. I was banned too, for no reason other than posing a question to justify my friend's ban. Funny enough, in the next server we ran into someone from the old one who confirms that the machine gunner on the lighthouse and one of the people in the heli was in fact that very admin. Figures, there was no way they could have magically found us and seen through our cover within a few seconds. Even funnier was that the server was apparently bandit-free, hence the extremely trusting behavior of the people there and the desire of the admin to be rid of us. We took those players' bandit virginity though, and they were exposed to the REAL DayZ in which any player could be plotting against you, and I regret nothing. Tl;dr: Myself and a friend had an amazingly easy and rewarding first attempt at banditry, but it was ruined by abusive admins. Side note: If you are an admin who does stuff like this or bans for no good reason, fuck you. -

A different server we were on had admins who favored a combat logger over us, who killed him and watched him alt-f4 while recording, because he liked the guy. These are dark days in terms of admin abuse. -
Birth of a Bandit - true story. Dayz fan fiction. Warning its long.
unkillable94 replied to toadie83's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well there's your first mistake, you got into the car. Especially as a fresh spawn, my only response would have been a "fuck you" and then I would wait to either be shot or to be left behind at the spawn. Great story though, really puts some perspective behind something increasingly common. -
Should I wait to break my DayZ virginity
unkillable94 replied to gingermonkey's topic in New Player Discussion
I would go for it if you have the money, the Standalone does not have a set date, only that it will be out by the end of April. Even then, it will be a base build. It will not be the full game. If you play Minecraft look at the difference between alpha and now. I was in the same spot as you, but when combined ops went on sale on Steam I cracked and bought it. I regret nothing. -
So yeah, I got pissed (first day of playing)
unkillable94 replied to pastelpunk86's topic in New Player Discussion
Welcome to DayZ. It sucks at times, but it still pulls you back in. If you want to I would recommend finding a clan. You can find massive cross-game clans or smaller ones (I lead an 8 person clan, I've seen 15 person clans, and even a few 4 people clans but by that point you're approaching groups) My life span increased greatly when I got some people behind me. On a different note, it is a thrill at first but if you play continuously for a while it can get old, my clan is on a 2-3 break from DayZ after logging easily 72 hours per person the last 2 weeks. I would recommend checking out Arma or another mod like Wasteland, it's a nice break and when you get back into DayZ the excitement is back. Happy hunting :D -
Yesterday I went up to Green Mountain with one of my guys and we ended up killing a guy out of a UAZ. His friend took a shot and killed me, and proceeded to talk shit about our clan for the next two hours inbetween gloating about his AS50 and being an all around douche. Being a military clan focusing on tactical assassination, we set up a trap for him and his friend which goes off without a hitch. As his friend goes down, he stands still and tries to abort but to no avail. So of course he alt-f4's out of there. We don't see him for a few hours and his friend actually compliments our strategy and stealth and admits what a good kill it was. We proceed to be friendly towards him and put the whole thing behind us. When the guy gets back on, though, when confronted about combat logging rather than being quiet or leaving, he starts firing off reasons why combat logging is acceptable and asks if we are upset that we didn't get his AS50. If you're one of the people who accepts a death and moves on, even being friendly towards your killers, thank you. That really is the spirit of gaming. DayZ is very fun when you can do stuff like this and not make enemies who call skiddies in to script kill you. If you're like the other guy, however, please just stop and take a look at yourself. This is DayZ, you will die. Accept it. We all have, that's what makes this fun. Man up and face death rather than logging out to prevent someone from claiming their rightfully earned loot. It's probably been said before and I apologize, but the stark contrast between the combat logger and his friend was black and white and it really made me stop and think about this.
-
A lot of people actually liked the guy, including the admin, so he actually got more support for combat logging than we got for calling him out on it. It was a good server which is a shame, we just left and blacklisted it for our clan members.

what do you guy think a bandit is?
unkillable94 replied to leadergorilla's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A bandit isn't someone who just kills everything that moves. A real bandit organizes car-jackings, ambushes, kidnappings, things like that. If you snipe on the coast or hang out in the big cities and kill everyone you see, you're not in my opinion a real bandit. Those kinds of people just hinder others, a lot of the time they don't gain from the kill, they kill solely to kill. A true bandit kills to survive. Bandits like that add a lot of fun into the game. I'd rather get kidnapped than get killed the second someone sees me through their scope 800m away. When I play as a bandit that's what I do, I only kill if I have to. If I can get a guy to pull his car over, hold him up at gunpoint, take whatever stuff I want, then leave him with the bare minimum as I drive away in his car, I'm happy. I don't feel the need to commit bambi genocide. -
Same thing happened earlier. My clan, while although not inheritantly bandits unless the need arises, joined a new server and upon seeing our tags somebody decided to declare war on us after 10 minutes in the server. So we find a UAZ at green mountain and one of my guys hits the driver. We lock down the exits and offer to let them live if they come out unarmed. They don't so we move in, the driver is killed and we think we're clear. We secure the perimiter and I go check on the UAZ. Upon getting out, not even a second after, a DMR shot to the head. Of course it was the guy who declared war on us. So a few hours later one of my guys puts on a great performance as a bambi and gets into their group. We set up an ambush in Zelenogorsk and after quite a bit of setbacks, waiting, and changing positions, we finally kill them. The guy who had been talking shit, calling us pussies and whatnot for the past 2 hours tries to log out after his friend is killed. He fails though and goes down too, but alt-f4s out. Because that pussy couldn't die like a man we lost out on a rightfully earned AS50 and M14 AIM. It's DayZ, grow up and quit being such a sore loser. This is precisely why people are warned not to get attached to their gear, they will die. Thats just DayZ. Accept it and regear, then go back for revenge.

DayZ's 8th Tactical Division [8Tac] recruiting - a structured military clan
unkillable94 posted a topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Hello, I am here today to tell you about DayZ's newest military based clan. The DayZ 8th Tactical Division is a clan centered around teamwork, strategy, and justice in the DayZ mod and will be present in the Standalone in the hopefully near future. We may also expand to other games if there is interest. The clan is based around an organized command structure utilizing different Military Operational Specialties (MOS), otherwise known as jobs. Each MOS will be vital to mission success, some acting as recon forces, others as the clan's muscle, and others as scavengers to keep us supplies. But I'm getting ahead of myself, let's start with the basics. Although 8Tac is a military clan, military experience is not required, although it is appreciated. If you can pull your weight, however, you will have no problem fitting in. The clan uses ranks based around those of the United States Marine Corps, and has a command structure consisting of: -Commanding Officer - the leader of the clan -Executive Officer - the second in command -Sergeant Major - the senior enlisted member -Administrative Officer - handles promotions, operation results, and other personnel-related information -Senior Engineer - The most senior Combat Engineer, responsible for all engineers in the clan -Senior Medic - The most senior Combat Medic, responsible for all medics in the clan -Intelligence Officer - The most senior Recon in the clan, responsible for all recons in the clan as well as all gathered intelligence Just to name a few. There are more significant positions, but as for the time being that is all I will list here, for a more complete list check out our website when it is completed. The choices of MOS in the clan at this time are: -Combat medic: Responsible for the treatment of casualties, a combat medic will be present on most types of operations. -Combat engineer: responsible for maintenance of vehicles and installation and removal of fortifications. Combat engineers will be present on scavenging missions geared at locating vehicles or assaults on hostile camps. Most of the time they will remain at base for fortification/repair of vehicles. -Infatry: the muscle of the clan, infantry are tasked with escorting other MOS's and being the main force when fighting hostiles or zeds. Infantry will be present in the majority of missions. -Recon: The clan's elite snipers, these members will perform scouting missions as well as removal of HVTs (high value targets) and specialize in stealth. Recon troops will only be deployed on scouting or tactical assassination missions. -Drivers: The clan's means of transportation, these members will be responsible for infil/evac operations using vehicles. The elite of this MOS will be selected to be helicopter pilots. -Resource management: These members will be the scavengers of the clan, gathering supplies such as medical supplies, weapons, ammunition, and vehicle parts. These soldiers will be escorted by infantry and will only go on scavenging operations or raids on hostile camps. If you are interested, we will be opening applications on our forums at 8tacdayz.enjin.com so come check us out if you are interested, and we will place you on our holding list to be notified as soon as the application is up and running.
