How do I roll back to 1.7.3 on Six launcher?
bottar1 replied to bigyounk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It does, just open install/update and hit ''refresh versions'' at the bottom, 1.7.4.3 should be on the dayz bit. -
i have an l85a2 thermal so i scan my area 24/7 and run or crouch and move fast.

If the bandit skins are still in the standalone I'm going to be pissed.
bottar1 replied to electroban's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No, keep the bandit skins, all the trolls and people who shit on others fun need to be shown. If there was no bandit skins everyone would have to adopt the mentality of ''AVOID EVERYONE'' or KILL EVERYONE, there would be no friendlies or it would be 20 times worse than now, and you would be making the game less fun as the social interaction would be even less than now. I don't care if its ''not realistic'' this is a game, and there is a certain point where they have to think about the fun of the game, and the enjoyment. Nobody likes to play a game where they get shit on 24/7. You think that if league of legends made a character for loads of real life money that stomped everyone, people would enjoy that, nah, you have to think of fun and bandits ruin alot of it, atleast the trollish ones who just kos bambis at the coast and don't even need their loot. There HAS TO BE CONSEQUENCES FOR BS. This sums up almost everything you need to know & consider. Stop raging because your an angry bandit that thinks hes superman and can kill everyone but now get's KoS'd and rages on forums when he loses good gear. -
If you play semi populated servers (e.g 10-25) or private hives, your chance of coming across friendly players is probably alot higher, because they go to lower servers due to getting killed by bandits all the time, or they want to get loot without disturbance. Don't always play on full 50/50 servers, as most people go there to deathmatch when they have all super military gear.

you can never trust anyone, you say you dropped all your stuff but what if you really just put your pistol in your bag and while he heals you you pop a bullet in his head? he might consider it not worth the risk, bandits are hard to trust.

I received an AS50 + a ride from friendly bandits because I was a friendly survivor, they had a ural.some bandits are not like the KOS ones, they just kill people who are posing a threat to them and are not friendly, i suppose. It's risky to approach them, but if they are friendly on the mic i guess you can try.

I'm not sure I understand hackers.
bottar1 replied to Hendrix27's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The majority of hackers have probably picked up the game recently and are getting stomped by people who were playing for months (or just people who are good at video games) and they don't want to invest time to get military equipment so they install hacks to get them. But the vast majority of them suck at aiming with their AS50's and don't know how to account for bullet drop, zeroing, etc, so they are slim pickins (unless they have god mode). Most hackers are not afraid of dying if they can just spawn new items (hackers without god mode) so they act more reckless, and are likely more easy to kill. Most of them do it because they are worse than the average player, and they make excuses for why the do such as ''oh ye everyone does it''. They are not willing to invest time to reap the true benefits and fun of the game, they don't want to go ''deep'' into the game for some prolonged enjoyment. They will probably just hop onto the next call of duty which is out (today i think, not sure?) because that's the sort of gamers they are, they can't be bothered to stick at one thing and get good at it, they would rather play 100 games and suck at all 100, then get mad and throw spaz attacks online and hack. I've never been hacked though, teleported once by a bad hacker, but he didnt seem to know how to kill us quickly, so we all ran off, or aborted. -
Gotta agree with you, there is no other game where I could camp in a tower and enjoy it (because someone was on the floor below me, watching the stairs). Taunting them in the direct comms and pretending I had a sniper rifle was fun too, eventually escaped scott free due to helicopter coming to airfield and blasting machine guns scaring people.

Do you feel bad when you kill someone?
bottar1 replied to mitor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If they were shooting and/or a bandit or caused a threat, then no, I have no guilt at all. If they were just a bambi who's friends shot at me and he got caught up in it and died, then yes, I feel quite guilty. I feel guilty killing anyone who is friendly, but I never kill them intentionally, sometimes its just a spur of the moment survival thing. -

]Yeah, even before watching his videos I would have considered them bambis. I use bambi as a term for under-geared players and just newbies. Even if your an experienced survivor, if you have a hatchet, your currently a bambi!!!!!! -
How are we being rewarded for surviving?
bottar1 replied to filas02's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't need any rewards or trivial things to keep me going. That's what I hate about most games, they are so casual (no offence), I hate feeling like I ''have'' to do something, like get achievements, to enjoy more. I like to just do what I want, and survive out in DayZ and that's the enjoyment I get, there is no real goal, that I complete and then insta-bored. I like creating fun situations and experiences with human nature of other players. It's a rediculously unique experience compared to any other game. -

On the elitist point, that is probably one of the only things I could point out about him, as nice as he seems, you can sense that when hes looking on any other player he calls them a bambi and instantly considers them inferior, so yes hes slightly elitest. But theres is no denying he is rather good (or just experienced) at DayZ. I've learned to assert my dominance on other players, and show no sort of fear when confronting them. It often saves me from dying. -
I suppose, but most of the time :P.

It's probably one of the first video games (ARMA II/DayZ) that I have actually been able to focus and concentrate on, and actually be competitive, mainly due to his videos, my mentality has changed. These videos are definitely a help. I've improved my aim a ton, and survival skills. I would recommend any average or new player to check them out! -
Some tips to avoiding ''unfair deaths'' and banditry: 1. Don't play on the public hives, find a good private hive community with active players, and play there, theres less chance of hackers if they have a good anti hack, although its still a chance, just greatly reduced. 2. Use third person, to check your surroundings, and use it the majority of the time 3. Use your left alt to look around you, ALL THE TIME, checking dots in the distance for enemies 4. Never, EVER, approach another survivor, hero, or bandit, and start shouting friendly 5. Be VERY cautious around players 6. Don't trust players without microphones, they will probably hack you in the back with a hatchet while you type to them 7. If you meet some strangers that want to partner up, try to use skype (add eachother+call), so other players can't hear your direct comms 8. If you meet someone and hes friendly but your not really trusting of him, make sure he leaves you before you leave him, and watch him as he leaves, so you don't get shot in the back trying to leave 9. Try to kill or avoid bandits, just don't trust them unless they are being extremely friendly, like handing out weapons etc 10. Don't approach people with military grade gear and engage on them if your gear is clearly inferior, this rule applies esspecially if your not the best at aim 11. If your using direct comms, double tap caps lock so you can talk without holding the button, so you can do more with your hands and react faster 12. If you sense a hacker is about, like side chat suggesting it or you get teleported at all, ABORT!!!! if you do not, you will likely die and be very frustrated --- TL:DR You will develop some ''rules'' for yourself over time of playing and dying, and eventually start to live longer and know who to trust, etc. It's all about experience and knowing what to do in what situation, from coming into that situation before.
