    2 Guys, 1 Bike, 1 Secret Camp

Haha nope' date=' that wasn't us. Our friend has a server now and we play on that... abandoned this bike a long time ago. Cheers for the feedback btw, guys. I wrote this and Jimbo posted it. I posted it here the other day in a separate thread as I hadn't realised he had already posted it, haha. [/quote'] Ah okay well, we blew up the other guys bike :D

    2 Guys, 1 Bike, 1 Secret Camp

There's not a chance that you got chased by two people and had to abandon your bike last night is there? It sounds likely it could have been you as they had the exact same bike and one of them had a ghillie suit on.

    that feeling you get....

... when you log in at the NW airfield to find over 15 dead players all with good and rare gear :D shame my character got reset for some random ass reason >:(
  4. For everyone who is buying Arma 2 just for DayZ that's great but you should definitely check out the vanilla game as well. It's a vastly different experience and a worthwhile one at that.

    DayZ Stories

This is a great thread, here's my contribution. I am an experienced player on DayZ, I have a lot of high-end equipment like NVGs, a GPS and a good assault rifle. I grew tired of running from town to town in the north gathering beans just to prolong my existence, and I hardly ever ran into another player (apart from the guys I play with from time to time). I felt that it was time for change, time to find and set up a place I can call home. My plan was to go south and find a boat so I could go to one of the islands off the coast to pitch up. Some time later I found myself outside of Chernogorsk, I have always avoided this godforsaken city as it's well known for practically being a funeral service for nearly everyone who sets foot inside of it. I wouldn't dream of going near it usually, but I was on a mission to find a boat, and Cherno has the biggest port around. Before I ventured forth into it's depths I scan the streets from my high vantage point and already spot a survivor shooting desperately at what I presume are zombies; I see no point in disturbing his fraught battle and I decide to flank round the eastern side. As I'm crouch-walking through the streets, NVGs on, GPS out, I know I will have an advantage against anyone who wishes to end my characters life. I hear a few shots deeper in but know that as long as I stick to the shadows and I remain cautious at all times I should come out unscathed. As I continue through the streets I again hear shots, much more distinct now and much, much closer; then I hear more from a different weapon, it's suddenly clear that there's a firefight going on within 100 metres of me. I let my instinct take over and run east out of town to a small hill and continue towards the port from there. When I climb over an embankment next to a railway line the port pops into sight, but I am dismayed at the lack of cover between me and my destination. It became clear that the risk vs reward wasn't in my favour as I scanned what I could see through my binoculars. As I inch closer to get better view I hear the unmistakeable sound of flies that accompany a dead players body. Intrigue gets the better of me and I move towards the sound, a backpack sticks out of the tall grass from behind a bush. He had nothing special, just an unfortunate beginner who had met his fate. I automatically hide on the far side of the bush so I can cross-reference my coordinates on my GPS with my map. I hear, or rather I think I hear a sound other than the ocean lapping against the coast, it was so faint I could have easily imagined it. I hear it again although it was equally as faint as the first, but as a precaution I close my map and take a sneaky look around, weapon raised. I move slowly around the bush and there in-between the leaves on top of the bank I see a baseball cap. I freeze. The sound of the waves continue as always. Raising my dot sight I make minuscule movements to get a clear view, or shot. A rifle comes into view as does a face, torso and then another baseball cap, another face, and a revolver. The height of my nerves raise as neither of them move a muscle, not even their heads; they remain perfectly still, I check the chat but no one has written a thing. Suddenly the foremost man with the rifle crouch-runs forwards towards the bush, I lose my cool and open up. I shoot at them both, I see the second man fall down behind the bank but the rifle holder circumvents the bush and moves out of sight. I stand up and turn to face him but he's already there aiming at me, he fires and misses, in the split second between him reloading I decide to try and run. I tap W as fast as I can but the inevitable delay that has plagued Arma 2 from the beginning comes into play. As my character finally decides to obey my commands I hear a second shot, I stop mid-sprint and begin to fall. I knew it was too late, I knew that he would put a second round into my head as soon as he reloads to kill me off completely. I watch helplessly as my screen hits the dirt and I wait for my demise. Then everything went dark, not in-game but in real life, my screen zapped off and the sound of every machine in the household being disabled due to a power cut ensued. Not going to lie, I nearly jumped out of my chair from the sudden darkness and from the adrenaline from what had just happened in-game. After the electric had turn on, then off and then on again I logged back in to see if that timely lack of power had saved my character. I saw the the ground and the green hourglass slowly emptying, I knew that I could bandage myself after a while and that my character was going to live. Thank you if you read the whole thing! I may have got a bit carried away in writing it. And if the guys who I exchanged fire with read this then I'm sorry if I killed one of you, I just didn't have a clue what else to do, I thought you might have heard me and were planning to to kill. Which you might well have been ;)
  6. Have you ever wondered what it would be like if there was a real zombie apocalypse, what would you do for supplies, where would you go to hide out? Then look no further because www.mapofthedead.com has you covered! You will find a modified version of google maps that shows all important locations in every city, town and village around the world. Wondering where you would find firearms or banadges? This map will show you the way towards locations that will most likely house your needed supplies! It will also show predicted danger zones and where to avoid them. Give it a go guys and see if you can find where you would go in real life to survive :)

    Map of the Dead

Haha that sounds quite sinister :)
  8. Nice story, I know what you mean by feeling that you have a group to back you up.

    Small Shit

A tip of mine is to continue pressing W when your at the top getting off the ladder. If you stop you will most likely fall, so keep W pressed. Also no matter how many tips and tricks you have for overcoming the formidable ladders of Arma 2 there's always the possibility you can fall and die. In other words try to avoid them. If you come across the biggest tower you've ever seen with a ladder up the side that might as well have a sign of a troll face on it don't go up!
  11. A lot of people seem to complain that tents can be easily raided by other players (which is true if you don't know how to hide things), this got me thinking of possible ways to protect your tent. I knew that any sort of 'lock' in-game wouldn't work for obvious reasons, and I also knew that a password that you typed in to only allow you access wouldn't be viable either, due to the nature of the game. Therefore I thought that some sort of weapon should be used, and trip mines fit this perfectly. Obviously they would have to be a rare find and because of this you would have to think about which direction you think people may be coming from. They also could be used as a crowd control for zombies. The only real debate in my mind about this is if they should be insta-death or not. I can imagine people would become exceedingly annoyed if they were walking through some bushes and then BAM! all their stuff is gone. Maybe they could only incapacitate you. Who knows, thats why I made this thread. What do you guys think? TL;DR: The title says it all really, shame you missed the ideas formed around it through.

    DayZ Update 1.5.1

Yeah the "Requesting Character data from server" seriously needs to be fixed. It's ruining my plans of a nice quiet zombie slaying night. It was fine on 1.4.29 or whatever the one before 1.5 and 1.5.1 was.

    Concerning PVP

Although I do agree that PvP is a vital part of the game and it's great the way it is now, something does have to be changed to stop everyone turning into a bandit. I remember when I first played dayZ, Pkers were sort of rare, well at least more so than now. There was a lot more ground for trust to built on between players. Now that everyone's realized that killing the person in front of them is a much safer bet than not doing so; I feel that one of the other core elements of this mod, trust, is in turn slipping away.

    Time to rid the idlers!

There should be an auto-kick for people staying in the lobby for more than 5 minutes also.

    DayZ Update 1.5

This sounds good. Probably going to install in the morning just to make sure that any bugs that are in this update have the chance to be rooted out.
  16. I wouldn't say you explained your point to the best of your ability.
  17. Trip flares! that would be a great way to make sure no one comes near your camp while your there without you knowing. Great suggestion!

    Zombies + Immersive behaviour

I don't like the idea of them automatically seeing you at a long distance. That would destroy our sneaky crouch-walks into towns :p but I do agree that running into a house and shooting all the zombies that follow is too easy, there needs to be something in-between.
  19. Yes if it was just a deterrent then it would be less annoying I guess. Breaking their legs is a good idea.

    DayZ Update 1.4.11

Does it say it in-game in red text? that means the servers restarting, if it doesn't go after 20 secs you might as well disconnect.
