There had damn well better be in SA ! And steel pipes , blocks of wood ( hockey sticks ? ) and the other crazy stuff that is lying around . I doubt ( intelligent ) people would eat a horse unless they really had to , and since cans of beans are still to be found , that day is not quite upon them . Once the beans run out , anything and everything is fair game .

Some people want to magically see around corners and over walls , no reason people shouldn't have better maps if they want . It's a "find your own server with it" scenario , right ?

Don't even make third-person an option for DayZ standalone
Jars (DayZ) replied to Pomegranate's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I couldn't be more chill . I don't feel the need to insult any one , if it is indeed meant to be an insult that I am an older female with fluctuating hormones . A game is defined by its rules , and I am voicing my opinion on the rules I would like to see , and why I think they would make it a better game . -

That's an astounding turn of hypocrisy right there . Do my posts gain credibility based on how much I spam the forums ? That's a funny way to go about listening to people . -

That's exactly the sort of attitude that makes your opinion irrelevant . -

I am not here to say what is right or wrong for people . Clearly many people like third person view and hope that it stays , and it will do so . This forum is to voice opinions and suggestions and ( hopefully ) give some sort of rational argument for what ever position you may choose or prefer . Pretty sure that isn't whining . -

No. Logically , you can't actually see things that you can't actually see , therefore , third person is illogical , as sweet and sexy as it may be . It doesn't make pvp harder , only dumber . I can avoid traps I shouldn't be able to see , avoid zombies I shouldn't be aware of , talk to people I shouldn't even know are there , and I can even know if they are a bandit armed to the teeth or a new spawn that is no threat , all without leaving the safe confines of the wall I am exploiting over . I can even know the EXACT moment i am safe to move from cover , once I see the bandit shooting at me move to try and flank me . I should be pinned in position by my fear of the unknown , that is how it should work , it's almost the only thing worth playing the game for . To me , third person sounds dumber , not harder . -
history and stats of each played character
Jars (DayZ) replied to sunnyB's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
In my opinion , anything that directs the game away from the basic premise of survival in an horrific situation , will be detrimental to the game play . People will make decisions that will enhance their stats page , not their surviving of an apocalypse . My opinion only , of course ... -

Jars (DayZ) replied to Pomegranate's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Whats the point of another field of view , that doesn't actually give you some advantage to use it . You can not implement another field if view , without it giving some sort of advantage in certain situations . If there really HAS to be a third person , am I allowed to zoom out as far as possible ? If not , why not ? What determines just how far is too far , how much terrain exploitation is too much ? I do not agree there needs to be both , which is kind of the point of this thread . What you can actually see , is probably the most important part of the game , and it doesn't make sense to allow you some sort of extra sensory power . -

Jars (DayZ) replied to Pomegranate's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If it's acceptable to have third person because people like it , then every other single suggestion ever , should be on the table also . Third person can not in any logical way , be appropriate for this game . Do I get to have my radar so I can see zombies and players , in the top left of my screen ? Because I would "like" that , it would make the game "better" for "me" . Of course I shouldn't because it's inconsistent and dumb . If it's a game feature to able to look around corners , and over walls without actually doing it and being completely devoid of risk , then the bar is being set extremely low . Where is James Cameron when you need him . -
The argument that third person view should be in the game "because I like it" is an inconsistent one . Many people want many different things from this game , some want NPCs , some want achievements or classes etc , etc , etc ( it's a pretty long list ). Many of these suggestions , that could potentially make the game more fun , or better for other people , are going to be ignored . The bullshit parts of this game that can be avoided , SHOULD be avoided , and one of those things , is third person view .

Third person vs First person view
Jars (DayZ) replied to Rising (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It just needs to go , plain and simple . The only use it has , is to give you a field of view which is completely unachievable in reality . There is no mechanic which can "fix" it to a point where it is completely irrelevant any way . -
The problem I have with the " I want to do as I like with no consequences " viewpoint , is that this is a game and as such you will play it as a game , and make completely arbitrary and random decisions. Therefore it should be part of the game , for there to be consequences for your actions , so that when you know you are probably doing something wrong / immoral , you may just have a second thought about what you're about to do .

Third person vs First person view
Jars (DayZ) replied to Rising (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Third person is a horrible mechanic in the game , that is only for pretty boys checking out their sweet threads , and Gen Y checking out their sexy buns and thighs . Any one who wants "true grit" and the "inaccessibility" that Dean keeps talking about , would never want third person in their game . It makes what could be a truly awesome game , into something lesser . If that alienates 80% of the player base , then that is their loss I guess , too bad so sad . All in all , third person eats the hard wang , and it galls me I cant play on any meaningful servers with out it . -
promote walking (will be unpopular of a suggestion)
Jars (DayZ) replied to SoWeMeetAgain's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Pretty sure Rocket dislikes the "accessibility" of mainstream games . Don't be surprised if you're walking , itching and crapping your way to your next can of beans . -
Actually , it was a bit of a nod at the "looting system" in the age old classic , Impossible Mission . If you know what i am talking about , you're probably old like me .
-
And have computers you can log into , to disable the robots ...... wait , wrong game .
-
Want to find the chopper ? Wait for a server restart , then log in each of your characters , all of which are parked next to potential choppers spawns , until you find where it is .

Realistic interaction with vehicles.
Jars (DayZ) replied to colekern's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I fully agree , third person is just too easy to exploit , and this would be another case of it . This idea , and cars being able to go just a little / lot faster over rough / dirt terrain , would make cars somewhat less of a death trap , and a lot more desirable . -
Negative behavior consequences suggestion.
Jars (DayZ) replied to M3D1C's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Being able to play the game as you choose , is definitely what the game is about . To suggest that there should be no consequences for your choices , is not what the game is about . Killing another human would have an enormous impact on you . Post traumatic stress disorder exists for a reason . -
"Receiving ... " Glitch (Extremely Annoying)
Jars (DayZ) replied to clawanorder's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I only get the "receiving" message after alt tabbing back to the game ( my computer is slow ) . I don't know if this helps you at all . -
RP , doesn't meant you have to play nice or fair , it just means you should fulfill your role faithfully , even to the detriment of your character . Clearly , an RP server would be private and most likely whitelist , so you probably would not find a lot of trolls .

And lawnmowers , ala Braindead !

Please don't implement passing stool
Jars (DayZ) replied to Warp Theory's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think pooping , and sleeping ( for short times ) , probably even washing , would be a great addition to the game . It forces to players to have to find a safe location , at some stage , other than just sitting on top of , or in , an unsafe area , sniping or what have you . It would create opportunity costs , ie : I would like to chase those scumbags on that ATV , except i am dead tired and need a crap . People would not find infected areas quite so welcoming if they know they need to rest soon , or need to relieve themselves . Also , Flaming Edgars . -
Logically , the killing of an infected child , should be far less shocking than the killing in cold blood , of a fellow survivor . There didn't seem to be much of a furore over the Diablo series ( that i am aware of ) and that had some pretty nasty stuff in it .
