The zombies are much better now , it makes having gun fights that much more difficult , or less desirable . You get a few shots off , then you have about ten seconds before the mob arrives , it's great . They mob you when you try to repair stuff , which is also great . To me , the zombies are not a major concern , but it seems servers are having a lot of trouble with this patch , with desync and lag , and log in troubles . Also I have noticed wide spread trouble with the repair of vehicles , saving of tents and sometimes roll backs after restarts ( probably a server thing ).

I am not too keen on this idea , but being the bandit , shouldn't necessarily be the easy option as it is now . Easy , safe , no drawbacks . That is all .

Standalone Suggestion: Infected Players
Jars (DayZ) replied to MrTombadil's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
How does a dead person come back to life ? That's the first question that needs to be answered , and Jesus doesn't count . -
I guess it all depends what is happening to their physiology as a result of the virus . What's going wrong with their brain to make them this way , while the other organs seem to continue functioning to maintain life . All will soon be revealed hopefully ....

It would be nice to be able to climb or scale certain objects and walls , assuming you have your hands free and are relatively unburdened . You might be able to escape a throng of zeds , or get out of a dead end situation if you're cornered by some bad people who want your stuff . This could create a situation where it's possible that you could be more likely to survive if you don't have a weapon , crazy right . To be honest , I am not too crazy on the combat roll with full load on .
-
Sleep would make perfect sense . I guess it would mean less time being able to shoot new spawns with no gear , but you'll tough it out . I can't understand how you could possibly come to the conclusion that if they implemented it , it would be a true to life sleep cycle , that would very obviously , be really dumb . A well thought out sleep mechanic could add awesome to the game .

I think it does fit into this game , but the process would be extremely long . Providing you were able to live long enough , your body would undergo physical changes like gaining stamina from all the running , maybe some strength ( assuming you had a relatively decent diet ) but I don't think much else would change . There is no reason small gains couldn't be made over very long periods . Of course , all this could be offset by lasting injuries , if major wounds are suffered .

Then I sincerely hope the stand alone game is not for them , and they don't buy it , and they don't play it . After just trying a few American servers , to check out the new 1.7.5.1 patch , I am seeing the way the mod is headed , and I must say , it's disappointing . Guns galore , vehicles galore , 24/7 daytime , donors getting free gear , side chat constantly blazing away , the purpose of the game being diluted . Some gamers really do not want this , and I hope they are at least somewhat catered for .

[Standalone] Quickjoin/No server list
Jars (DayZ) replied to DerMarv's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Can I "quick join" my server with my tent every time I like ? Or the server with the Jeep I saw a few hours ago ? -
It's easy to see at night with chem lights , torches , flares and fires , and zombies are easily avoided with patience and slow movements , which 90% of players don't employ . The problem is most people are too scared too use lights , because a very very large majority of players are opportunists , who will prey on these players . But this comes back to the KOS problem , which I highly doubt will ever be any different (unless play styles get punished! ), and as such , night time will inevitably be about empty servers .

[Standalone] Quickjoin/No server list

I can't really see this as being workable , I can understand your angle , but I have no desire to play on empty servers , that's not thrilling , that's just dull . -
There should be the ability to be satiated , and you simply can not eat or drink any more for a period of time . The way food and health works now blows ass totally , so hopefully they change that aspect to something a bit more logical . IMO food shouldn't give you health as it does at the moment , but more of a steady process . There is no good reason a steak would give you 600 blood , but a can of beans only 200 .

[Standalone] Quickjoin/No server list

I agree , servers with side chat are fucking horrid , but many people like it because it's "convenient" and "helpful" , and hopefully SA will eradicate it ( yeah I want to see all you side chatters punished ) . I understand where you are coming from with this post , but I much prefer to play on servers with at least 20 people , and I also want to play on the server of my choice ( usually some sort of private hive ) , or a server where I have a tent or a vehicle . As for new thrills , I think you would find yourself wandering alone a good 99% of the time , there is a lot of empty servers out there . -
Or the batteries to operate it may be more valuable for something else .

The games day night cycle is real enough , but the bodily function cycle ( eating drinking etc ) sure isn't , and for the games sake , it really shouldn't be . I think adding in sleep would make for even more interesting situations , and people complaining about this "too hard" stuff , as the mod is now , to survive is easy sauce , it's not difficult at all .
-
IT should be part of the game in the same way food and drink is . You should have to sleep for ( very ) brief periods of time , maybe a few minutes once every four or five in game hours ( maybe sleeping in a tent or bed can reduce this time ) , to stave off sleep deprivation and its ill effects , like slowing down reaction times , microslips , or even passing out . This would force you to find a relatively safe place where you can catch some shut eye , or have some one guard you as you sleep . Loud noises could wake you and interrupt your sleep , or some one could even murder you , or steal all your gear in your sleep ( nasty ) .
-
Come standalone , I am not so sure simply getting the best gear , and stockpiling a tent full of weapons will be quite such an easy thing , depending on how loot is distributed and the difficulty of the infected . What I am saying is , I think you might just find yourself doing a lot more surviving , rather than simply cruising around looking for trouble .

Where is the authenticity , in one person being able to feasibly achieve anything that multiple people can . I agree , there will be benefits and drawbacks to all play styles , and in my very humble opinion , in the interest of encouraging interaction with others , above and beyond poppin' a cap in the back of their head , there should be things that lone wolves just have to miss out on . -
replace humanity with human interaction
Jars (DayZ) replied to slivniku@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Sorry , but living in solitude doesn't make you hear voices in your head . Some people actually prefer solitude , this doesn't make them crazy or hear voices , that's just a silly assertion . Not every one needs to "socialize" as you have put it , to be a healthy person . -

I disagree entirely with the "don't penalize the lone wolf" , that is exactly what should happen in certain circumstances . Not everything should be achievable by yourself , and if you make the conscious choice to be a lone wolf , then that's the breaks . If you risk interaction with strangers to achieve that which you couldn't alone , you may just actually both/all be rewarded , which is what should be encouraged . I am not try to "punish peoples play style" (sigh) , but I really think , as in "real life"(rolls eyes) there are things you just can not do by yourself . -
Possible new buildings; serving more purpose.(Standalone)
Jars (DayZ) replied to TIC's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
These are good ideas , for a different setting . For me , a lot of the attraction of DayZ was the setting , the buildings , the landscape , the general ambience , the lack of "westernism" I guess . -
If you can't climb ladders etc ,with out crosshairs , you have to think about why this is . Most likely the problem you are having is you are playing in thirp derpson view . There is no need for crosshairs what so ever at all . Even grenade throwing could be pretty accurate , if its designed intuitively ( aiming with your left hand as you draw back to throw ) , with out the aid of crossderps .
-
Score boards , stats , achievements , goals , badges , stickers , golden stars , pats on the back , are all pretty much useless , since the only score that matters is , I am still alive and kicking , that is all .

I like the idea of trying to increase peoples involvement with each other , by making some tasks unachievable without two people . Perhaps some areas which are very difficult to get to , if or when some sort of climbing over walls or objects is implemented , the idea of giving people a leg up is a good one . Maybe even make some very heavy parts or objects only movable by two people , and have them "tethered" to the object while they are carrying it , or it could operate similar to a vehicle , with one person "driving" while the other person just "rides" , but it requires two people to move . This could include things like rotary assemblies , stretchers ( for moving injured people at high speed ) , or any number of heavy duty items which may be involved in building bases later . -
It's the old saying , "Why does a dog lick it's balls ? Because it can." Why do 90% of the servers now , have side chat , crosshairs and third person enabled ? Of those servers , 50% have "More guns and over 500 vehicles" . Of those servers 30% have "Start with weapon!" Soon enough , we will require James Cameron to do what James Cameron does because he is James Cameron .
