  1. I agree entirely . There is no reason there can't be several settings to play on , with harder settings disabling third person ( easily the worst mechanic in the game by a long way ) , crosshairs etc , and making life tougher in general .

    There is no way to avoid KOS mentality , since there is no reason not to KOS . If there ever is a good reason not to KOS , then maybe it will diminish somewhat , but until then , you will most likely be shot any time some one sees you and wants something you may have .

    Well actually , when I was younger I wore spikes all the time , playing Aussie Rules Football , and Cricket . They don't make you run faster in any meaningful way , but they sure give you traction , agility and better acceleration on grass .

    Have you tried running in spikes on concrete ? It doesn't work well . Spikes don't make you faster , just more surefooted , which may help maneuverability but not top end .

    Your idea can't happen , there is no such thing as resurrection or reanimation , dead people are dead , that is all . Having the bodies eaten by the living infected human beings ( they are not magical creatures like unicorns ) and perhaps having their bloodied and possibly infected ( not with the Z virus which survivors are immune to , but just regular bacterial infection ) gear scattered about , makes sense .

    The nutshell of this thread , with all medical technicalities aside , is : I would like a mechanic in the game , where under certain conditions , I can bring some one who is dead , back to life .

    I would really rather this not be implemented , as clearly , if you are dead , you are dead . If they can be implemented to be used in a dire situation other than death , then I guess why not . The new end screen would have to read , "You could be dead" . This mod is already starting to become too "fun" for my liking .

    I agree , there should be levels of severity and longevity of infection , some should even be fatal regardless ( that would cause tears ) .
  11. I fully agree , you should be able to choose to run lightly equipped , making getting away from zeds easier . Or you can choose to roll with your Coyote backpack full of assault rifles and sniper rifles , and choose not to be able to run away from zeds , or catch lighter geared players on foot .

    Better Use for Machete

    Sounds like a pretty fair idea to me , but doesn't have to be limited to the machete . Entrenching tool could be used to "till the surface" , giving the same effect of removing the grass ( until next restart ? ) Hatchet could do it too , it's not that hard to cut / crush grass down permanently .

    Get rid of chernarus.

    The biggest reason I play DayZ is the setting and atmosphere . The game is buggy as hell , loaded with hackers , and now its impossible to play somewhere decent with no sidechat or a bazillion vehicles and guns enabled . If it was set in ( god forbid ) America , it would have been stale and boring and of no interest at all . Terrible idea , in my opinion . I also think that if you're playing the game for the weapons ( which by your post it seems to indicate you are ) you're approaching this game with a very shallow view . Only a typically arrogant and overly patriotic American would make a post like this , there I said it .

    Every gun is a potential one shot weapon . Head shots should almost always kill , but as in life , sometimes people get lucky . If somehow vital organs are included in the health system , body shots could result in one shot deaths also . Getting one shot in the toe and dying , is obviously pretty dumb .

    I think the game is far better without one shot sniper rifles , it has no need for them . But if they are to be in the game , so rare , you wouldn't even bother thinking about them . You certainly shouldn't play the game "for" them .

    Book of Eli would have been a much better movie , if right at the end they filed the book in the fiction section , right next to Alice in Wonderland and Goldilocks and the Three Bears .

    It would be good to see some more variety in the zeds behaviour and movements . Some absolute screamers , that will cause huge amounts of noise , some quieter ones , fast ones , slow ones etc . Confused ones that just run around obliviously at random , to help create uncertainty . Some sleeping even ( I guess they sleep or rest , since they are still alive ) that can wake up when disturbed . Perhaps even some that have starved or accidentally killed themselves ( steer clear they are likely to be infected ) , though I think some of these spawn unintentionally .

    Chabowsk nailed it . Stats ruin it . Let this be the "anti-game" inspired by "The Road" that it was intended to be , and don't murk it up with reward systems which seem to be so important to many people .

    [SA] How to tell your low on blood

    There perhaps needs to be levels of consciousness , ranging from slight nausea at low blood , to micro slips , which don't leave you on the ground unconscious , but darken / blur the screen momentarily , to full unconsciousness before imminent death . Maybe shorter , sharper breaths as blood levels get lower ? A way to take a "deep breath" which can help indicate your blood level , i.e if you're at full blood , you can take a really deep breath and exhale comfortably , but at lower blood , you can only take a shallow breath and groan or even cry out in pain ? Really dislike the colour drain effect .

    I kinda need to get this out there and off my chest . If you have been infected by a zed , it's because you' have done something shit , and dumb . Respect the fact that zeds can now rape your face , and stop doing dumb shit stuff . Problem solved . DayEZ has moved on to , DayohIhavetopaysomeattentionnowZ .

    DayZ Mod 1.7.7 Patch

    This patch is really good . Please stop complaining about the infected , they are still easy to deal with , but are more of a concern when you have other things to worry about , like in gun fight , or trying to get on a bike . Avoidance is the best idea . I still would like to see a slow regeneration of blood ( maybe a few hundred per hour , depending on rested state , hunger / thirst / general health ) , this would seem to make sense .

  25. If animals were to be found drinking at ponds and lakes , and canned drinks were much harder to find , this would help to make watering holes / wells / ponds places of far greater interest and or danger .
