IMO your only mistake was letting the situation last that long. You should not have to repeat yourself more than 2 times. If they don't comply, they die. Specially with someone who speaks clear English.

At first I thought this was a troll. So I checked out the Chern+ map and sure enough there it is just north of the NEAF. So unless you have them in on it with you, cool find.
