DayZ Mod To A Real DayZ Game???

Normally for these types of release it's pretty much the same price all around the world, smaller developers like this don't charge $20 in the US and then £20 in the UK like a lot of developers do. Edit: Here's a quote from Rocket: So roughly $30 is the highest end he ever see's the game being sold for. I can easily see the Alpha/release going for 50% of that - it won't be expensive at all.
  3. If you are interested in playing DayZ but don't have the game yet, I'd honestly just wait for the standalone. There is really no point in dropping ~£25 just to only play it for around a month and then have to buy the DayZ standalone too. The standalone will be a lot more polished than the current DayZ mod with significantly less hackers.

    Please help :D

It depends. There are two types of servers: Public Hive and Private Hive The Public Hive is the 'official' collection of servers, they all have to adhere to the same strict rules and any character from the public hive is available on any other public hive server. The Public Hive normally has a lot more people but that also means there are lots of hackers, dupers and hacked/duped weapons in circulation. The Private Hive is a private collection of servers, they still have to adhere to the server rules but the administrators can (and normally do) required you to be whitelisted for access to the server. The Private Hive has generally less players but there are many very active servers, these servers tend to have a lot less hackers/scripters (if any) and active administrators for keeping the server clean. Private Hive servers are normally favoured due to the better game experience you get - the only difference is that any Private Hive character is only available on that specific server, none of the others.

Since you are a new player you are probably more familiar with the bottom of the map, your best bet is probably to the airstrip west of Chernogorsk. You could risk it in either Chernogorsk or Elektro but there tends to be a lot more players in these areas, players that will more than likely shoot you on sight. If you head south of the airstrip towards the water there is also an army medical camp with 4 deer stands, the majority of the time I've visited after spawning at least one of them has a weapon. Here's a map you can use to try and work out where you are: http://dayzmap.info/ [i find it better to try and work out where I am, it helps you remember more using landmarks, but use this if you get really stuck] You can search up the top corner for any specific loot you are looking for, other than that clicking on each building will tell you what loot it is possible to get there. It's generally more fun to run around and try and memorize places, it definitely helps more than using the map, especially since you begin to learn where different buildings are to hide in.
  6. The same thing you do when there is a fire. Stop, drop and roll! Preferably into a bush or somewhere to reduce your visibility and potentially give you the upper hand, either than or get into any nearby cover. If no cover or anywhere to hide is available? RUN AWAY!

    is Sacriel becoming a bully?

Thanks for the link, I am currently living under an internet usage cap (Boo!) so I'm going to have to watch it later. Always looking new casters to watch, everyone has to start out somewhere.

    Gaming mouse/keyboard suggestions

I don't understand all the love for Razer, the products are generally mediocre with a few decent products - the build quality isn't even that great. I use a Razer Deathadder and a Logitech G15 keyboard, I only went with the DeathAdder because I had a chance to get it at discount and it was the only mouse I liked the feel of. Logitech has some very nice offerings as far as mice go, SteelSeries too - a bit more 'basic' looking but very solid peripherals. Logitech is probably one of the best, they are AMAZING with warranty stuff and returns, even if you're a bit out of warranty they will help you out with at least a discount. As far as keyboards go, I prefer a mechanical keyboard, this site is very good for looking at possible choices even if you buy it elsewhere: https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/

    is Sacriel becoming a bully?

My favourite players by far are Frankie and JackFrags. Both solid players who play the game well and don't just KoS which is quite refreshing. I've watched a few videos by OshiSeven but not enough to form a proper opinion, enjoying the videos so far though. I really do like the commentary and explanations of various things from Frankie as well as the fact that he and his teammates clearly have fun and can admit 'Oh okay, he killed us' rather than the usual 'Oh, it's lag', 'Oh, must be a hacker' that a lot of streamers and casters seem to do.
  10. I enjoy the excitement of spawning with nothing near Cherno and sneaking your way in to scavenge some weapons, the only way not to die is to run. I think starting with a firearm would ruin it, I've played on a few servers like this and all that happens is that people just try and pop each other on the beach. A hatchet or crowbar I could live with, I guess.

    Cheaters: Busty Bullets and EXinar

Well, this was entertaining to say the least. I just love how Rammfisch got dragged into it all for no reason :D

    A few questions...

A bandit is another player that kills other players to take any weapons or supplies. To be a bandit all you have to do is kill other survivors to scavenge their items. The general consensus between players is that killing other armed players is the action of a proper bandit whereas killing unarmed players is generally frowned upon.

    DayZ Main Page Statistics

Haha, that makes a bit more sense. I was wondering why there was a sudden influx of new players.
  14. This sounds good, at least adds a bit of variety in so it's not going to be as easy as just simply outpacing a mob all running at the same speed.
  15. I quite like it, they could also implement a sort of 'pinned down' animation as they try and overpower you. It would add a bit of a dynamic to team events but it would be such a pain in the ass for a single player to try and overcome. I'm just confused as to why there is only one 'type' of zombie, if it were to happen in real life I can't imagine everyone having equal strength and speed, they could incorporate that too, the 'bigger, stronger' zombies could have an increased chance for a hold/pin to occur but perhaps be a little slower? There are loads of things you could do with this sort of idea.

    Small question

Do you have a source for them bringing it back? I was under the impression that they just finally got round to removing it (It not being an item that was meant to be in for long anyway).
  17. It should be worth the wait! I've played a few zombie games but DayZ just manages to catch the atmosphere a lot better than the others and certainly evokes a lot more emotion from me. One of the only games that I get properly sucked into and can get very intense, especially when someone is hunting you :D A lot of the big problems are getting sorted in the standalone, especially a lot of the graphical bugs as well as hackers, it will be a much more polished game and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
  18. Unfortunately, hackers and glitchers are the one thing that's pretty much impossible to avoid. You can play on a whitelist only private HIVE server, but even then hackers can still sneak in and ruin it all, although some servers have very vigilant admins which mean that it won't be a massive problem. If you are not desperate to play right now the standalone DayZ is meant to be launching before the end of the year (This is built properly on a new engine and from the ground up built to counter hackers and scripters).

A few questions about being a bandit

Definitely. As long as you aren't running about in the open and you have a decent view of the 'landmarks' in the area (Barracks, Hangar, Fire Station, chopper spawn (If it's there). http://dayzdb.com/map#4.044.051 There are lots of trees all around - just keep a look out for people at the airfield and even more importantly people coming to the airfield The ones coming to the airfield are always harder to deal with if you aren't expecting them and aren't in a good place with cover - they normally come from the south but they could easily come off-road and surprise you.

A few questions about being a bandit

That's the thing though, the airfield being what it is (with all the military spawns) it tends to attract a lot of players who are on the look-out for weapons. Once you've been and scouted the area you can generally set yourself a 'path' if you will, around the airfield area to scout from where you will be able to get a good view over everything (Close enough to get into the action fast but not close enough where you are in the middle of it.). You just have to watch yourself since obviously a lot of players will have a similar idea to you and will scout around the perimeter also. As long as you can set yourself certain boundaries to control and as long as you can ensure that no players can get the drop on you it should be fine, the main thing though is to try and stay hidden - there are always people watching.
  21. Haha nice, did not expect that at the end. It reminded me a lot of Eminem - Stan for some reason, especially with the ending. Keep up the good work :)

A few questions about being a bandit

The best way to kill an enemy is using a longer range weapon (Sniper Rifle being the best) and making sure you get the jump on your enemy. There are loads of spots you can kill people, the airfields probably being the best (NW especially) , it is, after all, the place where the majority of players go to gear up properly. You get to learn where most people go and where most other people like to sit (Control tower, barracks, hangar, fire station) and you then learn the spots where it is easiest to watch these positions. Once you get a good feel for an area it's normally easy to work out where other players will sit to get a clear shot towards a specific location.

    Why you kill unarmed players

They were armed, friendly or not, these guys were a potential threat, especially since they could easily return fire. There is a big difference between killing armed 'friendly' players (Mainly because there is no way to know for certain that they are friendly) and new spawned players with no weapons/items. Killing someone that is armed is understandable for a few reasons: They could have gear that you want No way to ensure that they won't kill you You may need to scout the area and there is no way to ensure they won't return They are going to be in a position which, if they decide to be nasty, will negatively impact you. This is in no way like killing a newly spawned player. You have nothing to gain from a newly spawned player, they are no threat to you whatsoever, especially if you keep a small distance, if you kill them just 'because' you aren't a bandit, you are either a coward or just being a dick but with the excuse 'No, no I'm a bandit! That's what bandits do!' There is a big difference between being a bandit and having a bandit skin - killing unarmed bambis on the beach does not make you a bandit, it makes you a pussy.
  24. I just don't understand how it can be 'roleplay' with silly rules such as no KoS. Where is the logic in this: Player A has a sniper rifle and sees player B in the distance with an assault rifle. Player A has a perfect shot but instead has to approach player B (SInce KoS is not allowed) Player A tries to communicate with player B who turns out to be a bandit (Player A no longer has the jump on Player B and is now at a disadvantage due to having a Sniper Rifle in close quarters). Player B kills player A with the Assault Rifle, a superior weapon in Close Combat. Player A could easily have killed player B but was essentially forced to reveal himself to initiate conversation before being able to open fire. Where in a conversation does it become 'allowed' to be able to shoot someone? Can you just say 'Hi' then open fire? One of the most exciting parts of DayZ is that you can be shot by another player at any time, sneaking around in cover means you are less easily detected but aren't able to get to the better loot in the more obvious open spots or in buildings. Without the whole 'Stealth to make sure I'm not shot' it removes a large part of the incentive to use sneaking to make sure you aren't detected.

best place to start a camp in namalsk?

There is no 'best place' in any map. Purely the existence of a 'best place' would make it not the best place because everyone would want to put their stuff in it, making it a popular location. To find a good location, look at the map, decide somewhere that is totally pointless to go there (Middle of nowhere, away from cities and main roads, no landmarks nearby).
