    Suddenly, Ping Issues!

Hmm, you've got me very interested. You've actually troubleshooted it yourself properly (which is very rare) and everything, short of reinstalling Windows has been done. If you're using an AsRock motherboard I'd recommend against using the traffic-shaping utility that comes with the motherboard, it can negatively affect your connection randomly.
  2. Not entirely sure, I've never really used the flashlight on it - can't confirm if it's been fixed although I don't think it's broken?
  3. ^^ I forgive you. I think those are the only 2 with a noob-tube on them anyway. Far too many variations to keep track of :P
  4. Yeah, A3 has the rail-mounted foregrip and less recoil than the M4A1. They are equal in damage, noise, rate of fire - only difference is reduced recoil with the A3 (M4A1 has Grenade Launcher though) Edit: Forgot A3 has flashlight, very good at night for scouting (without NVG) and blinding those with NVG.
  5. M4A3 CCO for me is probably the best weapon in the game. Brilliant range, low recoil, not too loud and 30 in a mag.
  6. I'm really liking the look of this, it will definitely change playstyles in cities. Right now it is a few buildings that it is worth going to, this makes it VERY easy to pinpoint an attacker, with lots of buildings this makes it very hard. You may be able to work out which building by sound, but which floor is it? Which window? This mixes it up a lot. Definitely looking forward to this now. Graphics could look a bit cleaner but I feel the most important aspect at the moment is gameplay and mechanics, they have plenty of time to make it look pretty later.

    Remove 24/7 Daylight servers.

As long as it is only day/night servers part of the Public Hive it should be fine. If they want to prance around in constant daylight because they're scared of the dark it's fine by me, just as long as they can't join any real servers with a day/night cycle once they are already kitted up with NVGs and high-power rifles. I can understand if new players want to play on a daylight only server (let's you get a hang of the basic mechanics easier) but I see the night as an important part of the game, you can start exploring places you otherwise wouldn't due to the daylight, the only real threats would be the handful of players with NVGs.

    8 - 12 hour servers

It just wouldn't work. If it's on the public hive what's to prevent players from gearing up on other servers and joining while the 4 hour server is up? This would defeat the whole purpose of the implementation. If it's on the private hive it shouldn't really be a suggestion (It's currently implementable as it stands if the admin decides to have it up from say 9am GMT to 1pm GMT).

    [Video] Personal Revenge

Brilliant video. I don't normally give out many beans but you definitely deserve some. Revenge is a good motivator!

Unfortunately that's just what happens when you play an online game - the answer shouldn't be limiting many other players because you can't put the time in. If you have squad-mates they can make sure any loot doesn't get stolen as well as keep their own camp with weapons for you to use if your tent was to be raided.
  11. Shiny. Enough detail to make it 'realistic' enough but keep it light on requirements - a very nice compromise. I very much doubt that any Hi-Res texture pack would be at launch, if it all, that would come after the base game is all finished and the mechanics are all tuned.

I don't know why you are getting all testy, there is literally no good reason for this other than to protect gear. The developer, Rocket, has said before that it isn't in the spirit of the game, when you are offline the world should be always changing. If you are telling me to 'grow up' at least give a decent reason for such nonsense to be implemented, not the fact that you personally don't have the time to put into the game. There are easily places you can put your loot that can last a few days if you go out of your way to stash it. If the gear is important enough to you, have it on your person, other than that - it's all fair game to be raided and pillaged. If you haven't hid it well enough it's your own fault for losing it. If you are getting so attached to loot, this REALLY isn't the game for you.

So basically you want to store loads of gear without the downside of losing it? A silly idea with far too much restrictions just because you are too scared to lose your gear. Unfair for people who can't dedicate a specific timeframe just to play games - too many people around the world play this, people with jobs, education, family and friends, they just can't drop everything because theie server slot comes up. It's not an RPG, your world doesn't stop when you log off, the wheels keep on turning. EDIT:Sp

That ruins a good part of the game - while you're not on, things still change. Losing your camp? Hide it better. Vehicle stolen? Hide it better. The world shouldn't just halt because you go offline and don't want to lose anything. If it was a real apocalypse you couldn't just say 'Okay guys! Off to bed! Don't steal any of my supplies while I'm sleeping!'
  15. Hello there forum-goers, Anyone that frequents the forum will know that the forum has quite a problem with spam posts - these are from new, randomly-generated users and used for spamming advertisements in threads. This is the current sign-up page used to register for the DayZ Forums: As you can see it has the fields for Username, E-Mail Address and Password (With confirmation) and a single CAPTCHA as a security check. I'd like to suggest an upgrade to the current sign-up page to reduce the number of bot-created users and reduce the workload for the forum moderators so they can browse themselves and moderate more important threads instead of constantly hiding and removing adverts. Since the forum already uses CAPTCHA to reduce fake sign-ups there are a few routes the administrators could go to tidy up the forum. The CAPTCHA could be changed from the standard reCAPTCHA (like above) the most websites use, this tends to be the most popular CAPTCHA solution but this is a double-edged sword, the popularity means that it is also the most easily circumvented. reCAPTCHA can be annoying to legitimate users too and often contains characters not included on a standard ISO keyset, making users unable to complete them. An alternate solution, also from the CAPTCHA project is called ESP-PIX - a simple yet more fun solution that to this date has not been cracked. This is a very simple CAPTCHA with a word in common to be picked from a drop-down box. In the above example the word is 'drop' - select it from the menu to continue. Another solution would be to add an additional security question in the form of a user-readable question which is not possible for a computer to correctly answer. There are obviously multiple other security methods that can be implemented but I think that now would be a good time to properly update the forum in anticipation for the alpha launch of the DayZ standalone. With the standalone attracting many new users, especially upon release, it will allow the moderators to more efficiently moderate the forum without having to worry about multiple reports for each advert/spam post.
  16. Oh look! There's an axe! I better pick it up fast! Aww shit. A bear trap.

    Standalone - worried?

The updated announcement for a December release is here: http://dayzmod.com/f...lone-confirmed/ for anyone that doesn't check updates on announcements.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

That's what I'm hoping for - poetic. Leaves it late enough in December to finalise everything but early enough that it's before Christmas. Got me all excited now :)

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

There seems to be a lot of that as of late for games development, a lot of kids play games now (I'm talking about the 12-16 bracket) and many seem to think that Alpha and Beta is an early chance at the game having never experienced a proper Alpha/Closed Beta phase for a game or a proper launch. I played World of Warcraft on launch, it was a mess to say the least but the devs took care of it and look what it became, the largest, most popular paid MMOs. People just go into this expecting a finished game which they just won't get at this stage - especially with widespread testing they can't do themselves (Server load stress testing, etc.)

    Standalone - worried?

A few minutes ago the team CONFIRMED the December launch date. The reason for the whole hush-hush attitude is that other games (War Z) are also in development and they want to keep as much of it under wraps as they can, also for our benefit so we don't know EVERYTHING that's going to happen, there will be a few surprises.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

I think this is a better strategy than a lot of other, mostly higher-profile developers use, there are always unanticipated roadblocks at the end of development, especially for something this big - it's better Rocket and the team have a bit of leg room to sort it out rather than have to rush it out for a certain day with major flaws. Beans for the update, GLORIOUS BEANS!
  22. At this point I really don't see any point in buying Arma II for the mod. The standalone is to be released in December, probably around just less than a months time (at most) - just before Christmas. Unless you plan on playing Arma II (and like more realistic simulators) I'd personally just wait, keep up with videos to learn a bit then buy the standalone.
  23. rossums

    More Realism(Stamina, Breath)

That's stupid - you didn't even use it correctly, defeating the whole purpose of the meme. _ The game wasn't meant to be a simulation, Rocket said he was aiming towards an authentic feel, not a realistic feel. I don't mind the addition of additional features, but only if they are made clear with voice/action cues rather than 100 different bars everywhere.

    Some help with lag

It's a decent laptop but it's just not made for games, especially not DayZ. DayZ is a very CPU heavy game and your laptop just doesn't have the power to run DayZ well. A dual-core 1GHz processor and 2GB RAM just doesn't cut it for much nowadays - definitely not games. Sorry!

    Destructible bridges are "EPIC".

Haha, brilliant - sounds like you were all having fun, although the guy you killed was definitely confused in side chat. I am all for destructible environments, bridges especially - they add a lot of dynamics, especially when vehicles come into play.
