  1. Use the BattlEye RCon tools. You can read about them here: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/BattlEye#RCon Lightweight tool here called DaRT you can use too: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/68933-dart-a-lightweight-dayz-rcon-tool-v061-15102012/
  2. I really hope he doesn't, there are many games that have really changed for the worse by ignoring their main initial demographic that got them popular and starting to listen to the players who only play the game because it is popular. World of Warcraft comes to mind for me, it was brilliant at the start (albeit buggy, but Blizzard gave free membership to make up for it) it was really focused around the story and roleplay aspect of it - then became the popularity and the flood of new players. This made loads of players start playing, whether they had interest in the game or not and the one thing that Blizzard promised to the fans is that they would never do this and that no matter how many new players asked for it. Then came: The paid server transfers The paid name change The paid race change The paid faction change The paid mounts and pets This in my eyes ruined WoW and the amazing sense of community it initially had. You were stuck of a server with the same people, if you acted like a dick people knew about it, now it's people stealing valuable loot, changing their names/race/faction/server and getting away with it. I really do hope that DayZ doesn't stray from the core ideals and the initial fans that made a DayZ standalone possible - no matter how much whining about 'Oh it's too hard at night!', 'Oh it's hard without weapons' and other nonsense that will surely come to the forum after it reaches a more mainstream status as a brilliant game.
  3. The only thing I worry about in regards to DayZ is the difficulty of the game. I know Rocket has said he wants to keep it hard and a more specific type of game (Survival FPS) many other PC developers have said the same and eventually gimp the game to appease the unwashed masses. I really hope that if the game were to be released on console/ more widespread recognized that they wouldn't make the game easier to attract more players - it would really ruin it for me.

    AKM vs AK 74 Kobra

AKM definitely, the range and ability to zero more than makes up for the noise.

    Build 1.7.4.4 Rolling Update

Some nice changes, the street lights being the main change - might make some of the daytime babies play at night!
  6. I'd be a Wire Fencing Kit, I am also annoying as fuck.

    dig stuff down under groud

In the standalone they are planning for digging out bases at some point. So you can have an underground stash if you manage to clear out enough dirt - players can still find and steal your stuff though.
  8. Namalsk is another very popular one, a very cold map where having warm clothes (or at the very least heat-packs) are a necessity if you want to survive outside. Should be able to join a well populated Namalsk server easily enough.
  9. He hacked or tried to download hacks/dayz related software and got his key stolen. It's as simple as that.

    I am invisible pack-man.

It's just a bug, it doesn't detect a female skin for a bandit and automatically flips you to a male - the females haven't always had a proper skin and it's still quite broken. It's happened pretty much since they implemented it - that's why there is also issues with females using Ghillie Suits and Camo Clothing.

    I am invisible pack-man.

If your humanity is lowered you get forced to a bandit skin (sometimes it doesn't change immediately but will change upon login). There is no female skin for bandits so you are automatically changed to a male.

    I am invisible pack-man.

It's just a bug you get when you switch skins sometimes, bit of a pain in the ass but should be fixed for standalone. Don't think there is anything you can do to resolve this.

    What to do...

DayZ commander is just a program (Don't need to make an account) that allows you to install DayZ and keep the game all up to date without having to go download all the patches and updates yourself. Brilliant help. You can get it here: www.dayzcommander.com All you have to do is launch it, click 'Install/Update' at the top of DayZCommander, it will show you what you have installed and if it is up-to-date. Just click the button (Called update/install) and it will do all the work for you. It's a lot better than Six.

Ability to shoot out of car windows

Hmm, something like this for any passengers would be good - not sure on the limitations on the engine but I'm sure something could be implemented at some point. I think it's a good idea, it's especially annoying in a road-based vehicle being chased by a chopper with gunner but you can't return fire without stopping (and then being cut in half by machine gun fire).

    Standalone Claymore

Definitely a no on the claymore for me. I like the survival aspect, this would just make it a typical CoD-style planting claymores everywhere, especially with such large spawn chances. As a previous poster pointed out a home-made IED would be a better fit.
  16. From what I've personally seen on the forums nothing really comes of Server Admins abusing their powers, even public hive servers. They should be made an example of if there is enough evidence they are not following the protocols they agreed to. If they know they can get away with it so easily it is no wonder so many admins abuse their position.
  17. That is not true, any game that requires loading textures and data from files saved on the hard disk will be affected by the speed of the disk. I recommend before you do anything you give your HDD a good defrag using a good tool like Defraggler (http://www.piriform.com/defraggler) - not the Windows one. Unless it's a problem you are experiencing on many games, reinstall Arma II - it's very prone to breaking and a reinstall can fix a lot of problems.
  18. It sounds like that would be your bottleneck. Very CPU and I/O intensive. The 2 lowest end parts would be your HDD and processor. It's an 1156 socket processor, but clocked at 4GhZ should be more than capable. That only really leaves the HDD (Unless it's a botched install or something). A SSD is always a good upgrade anyway, if you are looking to upgrade anyway I'd 100% recommend you get a SSD. The difference between a SSD and a HDD are night and day, it can't hurt - I'd never go back to a mechanical hard drive again.

    Been playing Private Hives.

It's a lot more fun spawning with nothing and having to sneak around to make sure you don't get caught by zombies. If you start with a weapon, zombies are by default not a threat and other players can just shoot on sight because they know you already have a weapon. I didn't like the starting pistol, it just meant people ended up shooting each other a lot on the beach and zombies were even less of a threat compared to now. Hatchets are VERY easy to find, Makarovs too - no real need to start with weapons - especially with hand-to-hand being added to the standalone.
  20. The game isn't meant to be 'realistic' it's meant to be an 'authentic' scenario - in this case a zombie apocalypse scenario. If it was realistic there would be no zombies and any gun would be very fatal. I'd be happy if they implemented a similar system to Fallout in where you can be incapacitated and have reduced effectiveness walking, running or aiming your weapon. A few guns should be tweaked a little but overall it seems quite balanced as far as weapons go, some are obviously a bit stronger than others but they are 'high-end' type weapons.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

That is just patently untrue - your friend is talking out his arse, to put it nicely. There is no difference between performance on Steam compared to retail. The only reason people were having problems with Steam and DayZ is because DayZ involves adding extra files into the Arma II folder which when checked by Steam doesn't match up (As it is meant to). The standalone wouldn't involve tampering and changing files and Steam wouldn't complain about it.

    DayZ Standalone Confirmed

The Alpha certainly won't be released on Steam, I doubt it will ever be released on Steam - if it is it will be a lot farther on in the development cycle, Valve only allow proper finished games on Steam.
  23. I can confirm that DE2288 is a Public Hive server and not part of the Private Hive.

New backpack idea - Tetris style

Here's a screenshot of one of the best suggestions (The one stuck at the top of the Suggestions page) - I think it's a very good looking system, similar to the RE4 one but better.
  25. Bare in mind too that Arma II / DayZ is VERY badly optimized. I get around the same framerate as I do in Battlefield maxed out. Your card is more than enough for this though. I'd personally try reinstalling Arma II then reinstalling/updating everything through DayZCommander - that seems to fix a lot of problems.
