    Halep.

If you were dumb enough to trust him after he just tried to kill you it is your own fault. I can understand giving someone a chance, but trusting them after they admitted to trying to kill you? Insane.

    Take over hack

Yeah - seen it happen a few times on various YouTube videos, a bit of a pain in the ass. At least you managed to abort before you lost anything.

Do you use the online maps?

At first I used the in-game map which gave me a good indication what direction everything was in - external maps will hurt you in the long run. Using external maps will only make it worse for you, by forcing yourself to find things yourself you begin to remember important landmarks and other notable locations on your journey. Using an online map means you know where you are going and you don't really pay attention on the way there, this will make life harder if you are working in a team and you know where something is on the map but can't properly direct yourself there on foot.

DayZ Lagg is it my PC?

To be perfectly honest, if you aren't getting great performance at such a low resolution, upgrading any single part won't make much of a difference, it will just bottleneck the rest of your system. If I was to say anything, it would be that you will certainly need a bit more graphical horsepower - only 512MB dedicated VRAM doesn't cut it for games nowadays. Your CPU is sufficient but it's beginning to be on the lower end of the spectrum as far as performance goes - same with RAM, 4GB is enough for most, but for games you should be thinking about heading for at least 8, especially if you like to run a lot of stuff in the backgrounds. The Arma II engine is VERY CPU intensive, to get good performance out of it you really need a more powerful CPU.

    Remove Death Messages

Not a bad idea - I always wondered why they announced the fact that you killed someone. It would also add in other aspects such as 'playing dead' to try and fool an enemy and draw them out of cover - could definitely make for interesting plays.

    Custom Vehicle Skins... Please Help

Silly question, but does the hive server accept custom skins? Most by default are set to reject any skins that aren't default, I'm pretty sure - meant to reduce possible attack vectors or something to that effect.
  7. Sounds a little... crowded. I don't really understand servers like this, it's like people want instant gratification (Like Call of Duty, etc.) rather than actually putting the effort in to obtaining a vehicle properly. I really can't see it being any fun either. 140, maybe, but 1400!?

    Tanktraps, wirekits and sandbags.

Why would you make it interactable from one side? That's ridiculous. I'm not just all of a sudden forget how to remove a fencing kit because I'm at the other side of it - that would make no sense. It would also give too big an advantage to those building a base compared to those attacking it, what are you going to do if you can't remove the obstacles?
  9. I got that from Sulas last post, thanks. I wasn't really concerned about the actual process, obviously it will go a lot by judgement and common sense, just curious how you would deal with the example I gave but it sounds like a lot of common sense is exercised rather than just taking everything and face value without further research. I like the sound of the servers though, I might give them a try when DayZ standalone launches and I have access to something other than my laptop. Good luck with all the server duties.
  10. Alrighty, just curious - it's good to see that some administrators do go as far as to research who they are letting on their servers though.
  11. It seems to just be a clean account on a hack forum asking a few questions about Minecraft and some other game. I was just wondering how stringent the checks are because, say, for example he was from the UK like I am. - how would the moderators know who is who? Why should I be punished because someone decided to register with my username on another forum? Just seems a bit flawed is all - I have nothing to hide with this handle, but I shouldn't have to go out of my way to choose a name that nobody else has used at all to register on a dodgy website. EDIT:As a check would go at the moment, it is obvious that they live at the other side of the world and have the command of the English language a six year old would have - but I can imagine this affecting some other legitimate players.
  12. What about players like me though? I just recently searched the following on Google: "Rossums" hack It shows that there is another person using the same username, from Pittsburgh, that is registered on a hacking website (HackForums). What sort of measures are there in place to prevent me not being accepted into a server for the actions of another person at the other side of the world that just happened to have used the same username as me?

What is "wanted" as a partner?

Someone that doesn't go out of their way to kill other players for no gain. Someone you can trust to have your back. Someone that is experienced and knows what they are doing (e.g. Knows their way around the map, doesn't draw unwarranted attention, etc.). Someone that is good banter that you can have a laugh with but also takes the game seriously. Someone that can actually communicate information to you well (If they spot an enemy player far away or want to make a plan to flank someone).

    Everyone shoots me on sight.

I have a perfect way to remedy the situation: don't get seen.

global ban when i was offline

Bans aren't instant. You were most likely banned for hacking or trying to download 3rd party software. Contact BattlEye: http://www.battleye.com/support.html

    Low Permanent Cost to Killing

There shouldn't be a penalty to another player because you were stupid enough to get shot in the face by them. Who gives a crap if other players only want to kill zombies? Go play L4D if that's the case. DayZ is about both the PvE and PvP aspects in a fight for survival, punishing a player for shooting someone else is just silly and serves no real purpose.

    Dayz GPU utilization

Ensure the GPU memory usage in-game is set to the normal/default. Changing it to anything else just breaks stuff. The game is just very badly optimised, being a mod and all, it's just something you're going to have to live with till the release of the Standalone.
  18. Not bad. Better than drinking the stagnant, dirty water from a pond. It could be a good addition if dirty water is used as a vector for diseases.
  19. Yeah - my bad. I was thinking as if it was a source game for some reason. Too much Counter Strike, I guess :P
  20. I find VAC to be a much bigger deterrent compared to the likes of BattlEye. The vast majority (I assume) of PC gamers will use/have used Steam and thus have various games on Steam - tying a game to Steam and being VAC banned means more than being banned from playing DayZ since it carries over to all the other games using VAC - the punishment is a lot more severe than a BE Global Ban which only means you need a new key.

    Should we have squad/friend Spawns?

No way. Spawning with a friend or at a camp you've already got would make the game way more easier than it already is. one of the most suspense-filled parts of the game is on your spawn, getting your bearings then heading to gear up but also making sure you aren't spotted - being defenseless and all.
  22. I'm not too happy about a Steam release, it will introduce a lot more players but that also means a lot more retards. But overall, I would prefer a better, more polished game than time being spent on a DayZ digital delivery system.

    Server confusion.... need advice

Haha, looks like it has been covered. As long as you have the latest one they are backwards compatible.

    Server confusion.... need advice

Okay. The easiest way is to download and install the DayZ Commander tool: http://www.dayzcommander.com/ It does everything for you, to install/update any of the mods just hit the 'Install/Update' button at the top and it's very easy to follow (Hit update to update and install to install any you don't have).
  25. It happens a lot on 'clan' servers where the server is controlled by a group of players and it's always the same story. 1. You see one of them in the wild acting as a bandit, you kill them. 2. They cry about it in side chat because they are always 12-16 years old with anger problems. 3. They get the gang together to come kill you. 4. They end up failing because: a) They suck b} You also have help c) You're just better than them d) Someone else interferes e) all of the above 5. They taunt some more on chat 6. They clearly use admin powers to locate you again. 7. They lose again (Or start to lose and kick/ban any players) 8. If they kick enough and win, they gloat as if they are actually good. 9. You get banned.
