It's your graphics card, it's one of the lowest-end discrete cards you can buy, certainly not made for playing games.

The only real way to stop the KoS mentality is to make it not worth it, that is literally the only way. Whether it be via increased threat from players, zombies or whatever else. If someone has a high chance of dying (or being put into a position which will cause them to die) just to kill you, they will think twice about revealing themselves. The problem is there doesn't seem to be any obvious method in implementing this without feeling overly artificial other than adding content which will force players to work together to defend themselves from a greater threat.

ingame names and why you choose this one?
rossums replied to wild_man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My name is Rossums, it's because I'm awesomes. (and my IRL name is Ross). -
Here me out on this one, FOOD Chain in DayZ
rossums replied to LancerG2's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It has no place in DayZ - it adds no value, wastes development time and doesn't match the style of the game whatsoever. It may be an interesting idea but do you really think it has any worth in DayZ? It's different from the usual crap but a bit.. too different. -

This is one of the more ridiculous suggestions I've read in a while. It's a zombie survival sim, not SimDog. -
Holy necro, Batman!

I have to agree/disagree to an extent. I think it should still be able to go darker, the new 'locked' night doesn't make it more tactical at all, both require tactics, just a different set of tactics. Daylight/New night requires a lot more long-range type scouting before going in and about and making sure you stay a significant distance from zombies. Darkness meant everything ended up a lot closer and a lot more stealh (prone/crouch) was used, especially places like Cherno/Elektro where sound was your greatest ally). It does feel like a cop out to me for players that don't like night, which in my eyes is an integral part of DayZ - there are things you really can't go during daylight and place you really can't go easily either - night makes up for this. If NVGs drop chance was lowered it would force a lot more usage of flares/chemlights which aren't hard at all but add a whole new layer of tactical play during darkness hours.

Nobody cares. It is launched through Steam and will be getting tested through it too, it's not any kind of secret - they've had developer builds for quite a while on Steam.

Pretty much everything you have suggested has already been suggested a million times over.

DayZ Overwatch S1 Ep1 - The Hills Have Eyes
rossums replied to jbec-john's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
I still think it needs more dragons, John. -
This is one of the most hilarious things I've read in a while, OP has his head so far up his own ass it's unreal. You're so 'brutal' but anytime anyone says anything that is a different belief from which you hold the tears come a flowin'. Melee is strong but the downside is that you can get infected, that is literally the point, but please - please continue.

[Video - Epoch] Bambi Tales - Ep.8: "What Goes Around..."
rossums replied to Blackops Bambi's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Nice video, wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of you. -
It wouldn't work. Console users would require the usual auto-aim/sticky targeting which would make a significant difference in a game like DayZ. On the other hand, if they didn't get it they are severely outmatched, even for newer players - I hope if it hits consoles they keep them both separate.
-
Mouse and Keyboard is significantly better than a controller for any shooter, it's not even a competition. The reason people get annoyed because there is always the console tards that believe that they are so good with a controller that they can beat PC players - that is far from the case and without auto-aim and sticky targeting controller players are left in the dust. Microsoft did quite a few experiments and pitted some of the best console players in the world against PC gamers and even mediocre PC gamers were absolutely creaming the players using controllers. Edit: http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/hp-man-slams-microsoft-for-pc-gaming-fail-704953 Some reading for anyone that is interested.

I would love to see specific graphics settings locked
rossums replied to UVF Reece's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
So you shouldn't be punished for having a shit laptop but everyone else should? The problem isn't with people playing on machines they really shouldn't be (ie low-mid end laptops and machines that barely meet the minimum specs) even though it IS a problem, the problem is that by removing the foliage you have a very BIG disadvantage to compared to those that have graphics turned up to a higher setting. Why should everyone else with a decent machine be penalised and forced to turn graphics down just to be on a level playing field? -
NEVER JOIN =FOX= GAMING SERVERS
rossums replied to Monkey Nips's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yes, but he should expect to be abused and laughed at when his choice completely contradicts the main ethos of the game. 'This game will not hold your hand'. -
Because you have no fucking idea what you are talking about. We already have screenshots,we already have game-play footage, we know what it's going to look like, releasing more screenshots would achieve NOTHING. Why the hell would anyone (dev or not) quit a group trip with thousands of $ put into it just in case some whiny people on a game forum though of them as not taking their job seriously? He is one person, there is an entire team working on it, you just sound like a spoiled brat.
-
You are moaning about not enough screenshots and videos for no reason at all. They said they would give us a Dev Blog (which they have been doing) and you are wanting more (and have no regard with what the work the team is doing currently). There is literally no point in them taking time out of development to make little videos and take pictures of stuff that isn't even finalised to appease a few complainers.
-
You sound like a self-entitled little shit. How many other devs post anything? Anything at all? A handful. They update us every week (or at least every second week) with stuff and you're whining like a little girl because you want pretty pictures and videos. Most of the work they are doing is on the networking side and the networking side of things, you can't really take much pictures of that.

Input (Metal Piping, Wood, Bandage) Output (Crutch) Tools (Toolbox) FailChance 1 Enchantments = Temporary fix for injured limbs (At the expense of speed) - Does NOT cure broken limbs but allows you to travel upright quicker than with a splint, although still slowly (Can fire secondary weapon from standing position). - Low chance for further injury ActionType = Medical Supplies

>>no stealing lol -
Exactly, this is what I find more often than not. If I'm with a bunch of players and we find a helicopter, maybe 1 of us can properly fly. I can get it from point A to B but in between the two points it's all a bit... yeah - it's all a bit..risky... outwith some of the more minor maneuvers. It should be all down to player skill, not artificial barriers.
-
Preeeeetty much this. __ Also your example is incorrect. Just because they are allowed to fly, doesn't mean they can fly - it's all down to how good you are as a player.

I'm not a big PvPer, I prefer the PvE aspect but I can readily admit that the game is not DayZ without the PvP - PvP is the driving force behind the whole game, it's undeniable. When I started playing, I got killed more often than not, some days I still do, but that all teaches you something. On a PvE server you won't find out what places are dangerous, what places have a lot of high traffic, you won't find out where you should avoid alternate routes to take. PvP is not the point of the game, I didn't say that.. YOU did.. just ignoring PvP isn't the answer though, it's just going to put you at even more of a disadvantage when you start the game on a real server, yes you might know 'Oh there is loot at the camp in Stary' but you aren't going to understand or know that it's one of the most high traffic areas in the game and very dangerous. DayZ isn't about having an easy time, it's not about having a safe place to play, it's meant to be harsh, it's meant to be unforgiving, babying people just detracts from the original concept of the game and gives people a false sense of security for when the play the real game. It is already defined how people play when the mod was released, it's both PvP and PvE, that's not even up for debate, if you do one and refuse to do the other you will have a bad time. Edit:SP
