    Varying Binocular Power

I like this outlook when it comes to weapons and items, take a look at the Team Fortress 2 items as a perfect example, for every large perk/buff an item provides there is always a logical downside - there is no real 'best' item at most levels, it's all down to play-style and what you want to achieve with the items. It allows a lot of forward progression but also a lot of side-grading to items that may potentially fit your current style of play better but not totally useless in the mean time.
  2. Dude, there is no point arguing - I know I'll probably catch flak for saying it but, he's so unbelievably fucking stupid and stubborn you won't get through to him. He's already decided he's right and everything is 'just an opinion' even if it's factually wrong. He wants an easy game and seems to think that it's FPV vs TPV with no compromise, a fundamentally flawed outlook and one that serves no place in a thread that's meant to discuss and dissect what is currently wrong with the views - anyone that can look at 3rd person view and say there is nothing wrong with it deserves to have their opinion completely disregarded. Nobody is saying either view is perfect but TPV seriously needs fixed as it ruins the largely important tactical aspect of the game and FPV view needs fixed to something at least in line with ARMA3.
  3. Normally when you load a server it tells you in the bottom corner where you are when you log on. Just like if you were to wake up on the coast in real life from being unconcious, you wouldn't know where you are immediately, you can find your bearing using landmarks, use road signs, use a map and compass (if you can find one), the position of the sun (if you have a watch). Plenty of ways to work out roughly where you are!
  4. Exactly, you want easy. DayZ isn't meant to be an easy game that you kick back and relax with, it's meant to be a difficult, authentic zombie survival sim - then entire idea behind the game is that it wasn't easy or forgiving. It plays such a massive role in helping you kill players and avoid being killed by them because it's totally broken and you are using that to your advantage - this is the main reason that people hate it, you are getting an advantage not because you are even remotely a good player but because you are abusing a broken mechanic that there is no possible way to defend against, it takes the skill completely out of any encounter.

    okay what is this ?

I'm assuming you want us to say 3%?
  6. As cover? If you want to see where they are, stick your head out. What is the point in pinning someone down behind an object if they can sit behind said object and see clearly over it and find out your location? It completely removes the tactical aspect if you can just spot them from safety so they are unable to flank or move forward, all it turns into is a game of 'Whoever gets bored and moves first gets shot'.

    A post about the mod

Lee Enfield. Nothing more fun than ringing the dinner bell in Elektro and wait for the zombies in Cherno to come running for you.
  8. Never trust a man using colours like that with Comic Sans. Never.

How to stop farming and server hopping

That defeats the whole point in the public hive, the entire purpose was that you could log into any public hive server and have the same gear in the same position. The only way to combat this behaviour would be to implement a lock after you have visited x amount of servers within x amount of time - there is no real other way to do it simply.

    [SA] Starvation

I would like there to be a bigger focus on food/drink and less food/drink easily available, currently it's not always worth killing/gutting an animal or going to collect water from a pond unless you REALLY need it, generally coke/pepsi is easier and animal meat is only really sought after for the blood content.

Opinions on releasing DayZ on console?

From an economic standpoint releasing it for console after the PC version is completed is a no-brainer. As far as the gameplay itself, I don't think it will translate over to console as well as it does for PC, even the new consoles will struggle with the size of DayZ as well as the amount of computation for everything, even games like BF3 were scaled down for consoles a lot. My viewpoint is that a very large number of console players just want to be able to pick up the controller for some quick action then be able to drop again as quickly, that's why short games like BF3, CoD and Halo are so popular - quick violence, instant gratification for doing the simplest thing and done - I don't feel that DayZ would translate very well over to that space.
  12. So your problem with FPV is that you can't peak over obstacles? DayZ doesn't seem like the game for you, it's meant to be hard, there is meant to be a risk vs reward situation for everything you do - you are meant to be at risk when you want to scout an area - the fact you seem to just brush over peaking and 'wallhacks' is just immature and the entire problem with this thread, you complain that it's FPV people whining and dismissing everything when you are doing the exact same thing. I use both views, they are both useful and using TPV is almost a necessity if you play on the more popular servers. The reason there are so many popular TPV servers is that server hosts want to get the most players they possibly can, allowing both FPV and TPV is the only way to do this, the only downside is that players are forced to use TPV to remain competitive. The fact you don't see exploiting the view as 'wrong' because everyone can do it is just pathetic, that's like 'Oh there is nothing wrong with cheats, everyone can just download them too!' - just because it's their and exploitable doesn't mean it should be and certainyl doesn't mean it's a good thing. It just seems that you want the game to be easier and you are using TPV as a crutch for your inability to play properly. Both views are broken, the problem with TPV is it ruins a large chunk of the gameplay, a very important part too. YOU are the only one here that seems to be making this a black vs white, TPV vs FPV argument, it's not as simple as that. I prefer TPV for general messing around but that doesn't make up for the fact it's fundamentally broken in a way that negatively impacts the game.

    DayZ Streamers

I just give Twitch a quick look to see if there is anything that sounds decent, you may be surprised by some of the smaller streams, a few tend to be really good. http://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/DayZ
  14. It doesn't matter what you prefer, it's broken, it is literally THAT simple. They way it is exploited IS wrong, Rocket himself has said that it wasn't intended to be used to view over obstacles from safety. It doesn't matter how much you cry and stomp your feet, it's not down to what view people prefer, it's down to one of the views offering a significant advantage over the other which negatively impacts a large part of the game and just downright ruins others. The game was meant to be a hard, unforgiving game that at time required some quick and fast decisions - being able to peek over any obstacles from safety before moving takes a lot of that away, if you want to look you should have to stick your head out and put yourself in danger to earn the information regarding your surroundings.

    easily looking behind you

That would be TOO obvious. Remember, we don't know about game development (apparently) so we don't know what we're talking about, there is no chance that he's just a fucking moron and can't bind simple keys. Noooo.

    easily looking behind you

It's not hard - you just sound whiny. Looking around you is meant to be an active choice that you are making, a simple passive hold button to look behind you is a bit ridiculous, it's already hilariously easy to see all around you - especially with 3rd person view - I don't see what the problem.

    Day Z Interface

Not a big fan of crosshairs but it's not bad. I don't think it really fits DayZ though, it feels pretty.. technologically advanced.. might be pretty decent on something like Arma though.

Can I Run DayZ Mod? (POST HERE)

That seems about right. It will be higher outside of Cherno but within Cherno/Elektro even the best rigs take a large performance hit. It's still perfectly playable but if you're worried about the FPS you should give DayZero a try - some very nice optimization on their mod.
  19. I just love the whiners that come to the forums, all it takes is a quick Google search: "username" hack or "username" DayZ And there is almost always posts on the same shitty website about them not being able to work hacks correctly - hacking always seems to attract the biggest group of morons known to man. Edit: And while it's on topic, WHY WHY WHY would you use the same freakin' username!?

Video Card crashing when I play Arma

I feel so sorry for you, such a sack of shit of a laptop - exactly what I've been stuck with for months as my only machine. It's almost certainly heat, mines is slowly shitting itself one component at a time due to the temps, they are ridiculous - make sure you are going for the DELL Drivers on their website rather than the latest manufacturer drivers, they can be really finicky.~ Crack that bad boy open and clean the area behind the fan, it always gets clogged up and any heat dissipation becomes non-existent.

Problem nstalling a new asus graphics card

NVIDIA 326.80 Driver here: Clicky (Assuming, you're using Vista, 7 or 8). Install drivers and reboot - Windows can't communicate with the card without the correct drivers, this is why it won't recognise the card correctly. Never bother with the drivers on a disc that you get with any hardware, 9 times out of 10 it's already outdated before it's left the factory - no need for flashing anything quite yet!

    The Stupidity of some people....

It does make sense, a lot of people DO actually speak like that, believe it or not. Not in the overly condescendingly cunty way that Frankie does though.
