Going back to your body to get your gear
rossums replied to bfisher's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd rather they implemented random spawns making it very hard to make it back to your body. Yes you need loot, yes you've already earned it but it's just against the spirit of the game and really taking advantage of the limited mechanics that have been implemented. Perma-death is a big part of the game, just running back to your body to pick up your old stuff really isn't right - if it's a silly glitch or bug, fair enough - after dying s just bad though. It doesn't really matter how long you've spent getting it, it doesn't matter how many days you've had it, it really doesn't matter if you feel someone killed you for no reason - if you get attached to your gear, DayZ is NOT the game for you and constantly running back to your body after being killed is not something that should be enouraged. Once you are dead, you are dead. -

Is that your go-to line when you have just been textually beaten to a pulp? You can't just tell people to move on because they made you look like a moron, you're doing that yourself plenty - it's clear you have nothing useful to contribute to the forum or society as a whole. Now jog on, ya pillock. -

Hello there Rossom b gud. I've given up anyway, it's like arguing with a brick wall, but this brick wall insists that they aren't actually a brick wall and have provided a lot of reasoned evidence for this but refuses to show you where it is, instead pointing at the pile of rocks on the pavement and shouts 'IT'S THERE'. But guess what? It's not there. Rgds Rossom -
Haha, probably a wise decision. The only reason we all knew about DayZ so early in development was that DayZ Standalone was literally just going to be Arma II and DayZ packaged together with each other. As you know they decided to turn DayZ into a full game and overhaul EVERYTHING. I feel sorry for rocket, he's the one that's had to put up with the abuse for a year or so :D

Hello there You've 'backed them up' with personal anecdotes and assumptions - that's as good as not backing them up at all. There is nothing remotely useful to supporting your viewpoint other than stuff that you have just pulled out of your ass - if they exist QUOTE THEM, if not just stop - it's getting really tiring - you have backed up absolutely nothing you have said with anything worthwhile. The jumps in logic you make are hilarious and you just disregard any real point that have been made and attack some silly strawman that you've made up in your head. You aren't arguing to try and back up your point, you are arguing for the sake of arguing. Edit: Just felt like posting a lovely ironic post from a special butthurt someone that can't spell or string a sentence together. Rgds Rossums -

Hello there 'Backed up relevant info' If you can quote me where this supposed information I'd appreciate it a lot, it's certainly not in this thread. I'm not sure what you mean by 'stupid examples' I'd appreciate if you could explain that too, the only example I used in that was a medium-long range encounter by another player - an all too common occurrence. You are literally just making stuff up with your fingers in your ears and avoiding the actual topic.. again. The only thing coming to mind at the moment is 'argumentum ad nauseam' - you seem to be approaching the topic as if it is a false dichotomy and that just isn't the case. Rgds Rossums -

rossums replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hello there It was easy to understand what I meant from the context, nobody else seems to be having as many problems as you - it was a mere error in wording, nothing more, nothing less - you keep trying to pick apart a single line to ignore everything else - I'm not worming my way out of anything, I can quite clearly see it's poorly worded. If by 'all the other KoS topics' you mean the other one topic I posted on (in which you also made zero sense) if you can post my 'total nonsense' you can be my guest, I'm assuming you'll just continue to post your semi-coherent babble as per usual. You seem to assume that people will have ammo for you to steal, you don't know that at all, shooting them would be a net loss if they have nothing of value - you have therefore wasted your already limited ammo and gained nothing. Forcing players to be frugal with the very limited ammunition will mean they are less likely to waste it shooting people that they don't know for a fact will benefit them in some way, it isn't as simple as: Not all encounters are made at a very short distance, encounters at a medium-long distance will mean that bandits are nowhere near guaranteed a kill - it's in their interest not to attempt to shoot from 400m+ away with an M4 if they have limited ammo, to argue otherwise is just stupid. A face-to-face encounter could possibly be worth it but at any real distance it's just not worth wasting ammo over without moving closer to the enemy player. You are trying to argue with a proven economic factor - the value of an object is driven by how scarce it is in a closed ecosystem like DayZ - people are also less likely to waste something with a higher worth or value - it's a pretty simple concept that you don't seem to be able to grasp. I'm not even sure what you are trying to argue other than 'People COULD still kill even if ammo is rare'. You are seeing everything as either x happens or y happens, it's not as black and white as that - it's not either they shoot and kill or they don't shoot and let you away, there are numerous possible scenarios in where you open fire and miss, open fire and damage the equipment etc. etc. just because you are aiming to shoot him in the head doesn't mean that's where the bullet is going to land. Hello there Massicor, you are actually honest to god retarded slow. Completely wrong and decide to attack a mistype rather than an actual argument, pedantic AND wrong. Like trying to argue with a brick wall - you know exactly what I meant and instead of arguing against my points you just try to disregard it as usual because of a simple mistype. It's a perfectly logical argument and it's pretty obvious that if ammo was to become more scarce it would therefore become more valuable. The 'arguments' just seem to be from people that are far too attached to their gear and make little to no sense. Rgds Rossums -

Hello there I think your basic skills of comprehension are the only things that are 'pathetic', well, maybe that along with your reading ability. I'll even quote it for you so you can stop making things up: I literally said that it's not meant to stop KoS and it's always going to happen - you claim the opposite. It's not 'practically KoS' - it is literally the OPPOSITE of KoS. KoS is short for 'Killing on sight', he did NOT kill on sight - I don't know what's going on in your head but that's pretty clear cut - you can't argue with definitions - there is no grey area, either he did kill on sight or he didn't... there is no middle ground. By forcing an encounter it allows more than the 'Player shoots and kills' - there are MULTIPLE things that could happen in this scenario, it's not just a given that the player will bend over and let you cuff them. If you'd actually take time to read before smashing your face off your keyboard you'd actually get somewhere. Every post you make is so unbelievably fucking stupid I have a really hard time working out how you function in your day-to-day life, honestly. Rgds Rossums -
How do you enter town safely as a lone wolf?
rossums replied to Donair's topic in New Player Discussion
Hello there This is probably the best advice, it also helps if you kill any zombies in the area with your pistol, it will also alert other players of your location so they can help. If it's night time the best advice is to use your flares to help other players find you so you can team up. It can't go wrong. Rgds Rossums -

rossums replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hello there As you can see the system stopped you from killing on site - it's working exactly as intended. You had to approach the other player if you wanted a good chance of getting undamaged loot or risk destroying it. The system isn't meant to stop bad players from killing on site, that's always going to happen - it's meant to add additional decisions that have to be made BEFORE you shoot on sight. If you're stupid enough to waste ammo for no net gain that's your prerogative but you're clearly playing the wrong game. It always seems to be the players that have an overinflated ego and seem to think they are actually good players that support the whole crappy KoS attitude - the same players that don't play a real competitive shooter because they'd get destroyed. Hello there That's the problem, there isn't a topic. He's been given an argument and totally ignores it - it's not stubborness or ignorance, he's just unbelievably stupid. Can't even tell if he's trolling or just amazingly dumb, every single post he has made is the same. Rgds Rossums -

Hello there This should just be locked. OP is unbelievably fucking stupid, he's been given logical reasons but insists on putting his fingers in his hears and shouting LALALALLALALALA CANT HEAR YOU. Basic logic and skills of deduction seem to elude him, it's like trying to argue with a brick wall - YOUR ANECDOTAL EVIDENCE MEANS NOTHING. For the final time, if ammo is scarce enough and there is no definite return value, people will think before they shoot. There is literally no point in wasting your very limited ammo unless you have to. You are playing it the easiest way it can be played, it's also the most boring and unsatisfying - people shoot people on the coast because you find ammo everywhere and they are too shit to kill people up north, this is why all the baddies hang around at the coast. rossums replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hello there I will care if ammo is scarce, so will many others. Why potentially waste ammo for no return value? The goal isn't to kill people, wasting ammo for no reason isn't helping anyone and it makes the area more difficult for you by attracting both zombies and other players in the vicinity. Your whole argument is as follows: HURR DURR I DONT WANNA LOSE GEAR I SHOOT PEOPLE BECAUSE I DONT WANT TO LOSE GEAR SO DOES EVERY1!! Your crappy anecdotal evidence of you having a complete inability to play doesn't mean everyone else is as equally as useless as yourself. Again, nobody said it would stop KoS, but it will (along with ammo scarcity) make you stop and reevaluate a situation before you decide to start shooting someone for no real reason. Rgds Rossums -

Hello there Arguing with the pseduo-intellectuals is always a fun endeavor. Nobody said it would STOP KoS, people said it would LOWER KoS, fool. Just because you're a fucking baddie and kill people because you suck doesn't mean that everyone else is equally as bad. If it's a deathmatch to you, fair enough, nobody really cares. It is VERY simple, you have a vest I want: a) I shoot you on sight and I have a very high chance of damaging the vest b) I at least try to approach you which will drastically lower the chances of me damaging the vest Nobody cares how you like to play, we already understand you're afraid to lose your items - all I'm getting is that you should be playing Call of Duty but instead are complaining that DayZ won't fit your terrible playstyle. Hello there People tend to kill other people to obtain their gear. If their gear is damaged or destroyed they won't instantly kill them. We know you are bad and will continue to be in the standalone. Rgds Rossums- 267 replies

Is duping a ban worthy? [1.8]
rossums replied to sanctifieddevil's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes. Exploiting is cheating, cheating should be a bannable offence. They know what they are doing, they should suffer for it - that's a more basic one. -

Found one of the best servers so far.... imo
rossums replied to beavis_5000's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
\ Hanlon's razor 'Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.' _ Sounds like one of the worst servers I have ever heard described. There is no KoS because they are all picking off new spawns at the coast, not because the zombies are harder. If you want a harder time without idiots cheating take a look at DayZero. -
PLEASE HELP *IMPORTANT* (IK IT IS LONG JUST READ)
rossums replied to The Prodigy's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
They are admins on a private server, they can do whatever they want. Try find a real server with decent admins if you don't want to put up with abuse. -
Good stuff - easy mistake to make (That even I may have done on occasion :) ) It's good to see someone actually coming to the forums and ask for help rather than joining to go crazy about the installation process. Now comes the fun part.. not dying all the time while playing :D Good luck!

It's all pretty much down to you being bad. That's fine though, you're new, we were all there at some point and DayZ does take a little bit of getting used to. Once you play you will definitely get a hang of all the little 'quirks' of the mod, most of them are not because it was badly made but because the Arma II engine was REALLY not made for this type of game. For example, one problem with Arma II is that there was no melee weapons to base the hatchet on - the hatchet is actually a gun with a very short range which is why you have to 'reload' it to get it started. Since these are all pretty much problems with the limited implementation of the engine itself none of these should be much of a problem in the standalone, the standalone is MEANT to be a zombie game so the clunky inventory and melee weapons will be actually implemented and much less 'clunky' feeling.

Using Google certainly isn't one of them - nor are simple skills of deduction.

I don't think that death messages really have a place in DayZ, it removes a lot of the tactical aspect from the game which is a big advantage to some players, especially those that play alone. It will also allow players to set traps for groups, adding another dyanmic element to the fray. Imagine you are facing 2 or 3 enemies, they split up and you manage to take out one quietly with a silenced weapon from your vantage point in the tree. The rest of the group eventually come looking for him and locate his body - they have to get close enough to inspect the body if they want to see what happened to him.
