    DayZ Australia 5 Server Info

Actually we've given everyone who's enquired, the option to run their own servers, or share a box with us, under their own name, while benefiting from our discounted prices. Personally I'd rather they donated to help us, as we have the community, experienced staff and lots of players on TeamSpeak already. If they were competent enough and were honestly interested in putting the community first we'd happily take them on to help manage our servers.

    I just purchased a server

www.dayzmod.com All the info you need is there. If searching the obvious locations for the required info is too much hassle, you won't have the necessary work ethic required to maintain a DayZ server.

    Bandwidth used?

First post... so I'll cut you some slack. 1. No home servers allowed. 2. You need 1-3Mbps Up/Down to host a 30+ server. Less slots won't be considered 3. Even if you had that bandwidth, you'd wait weeks to get approved and set up. Only the big guys hosting multiple servers are cutting the waiting queues. 4. You obviously took no time to read ANY of the forums or guides on hosting a server, if I could delete this thread I would so you don't waste anyone else's time.

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

We had data routing issues with ANZ1-4 last night. For all the intellectual Americans, think of it like a knot in our piece of string, which was too far from our tin-can to reach, so we had to get someone else to un-knot it for us. We will likely be running ANZ1-4 on the same time-zone soon, which will likely be something around +3GMT. This will give Aussies daylight in DayZ between 11AM to 1AM.

Want to host a DayZ Server? Read in here.

DayZ Devs need to get their stuff in order, it's LONG overdue. 1000+ emails? Maybe you shouldn't use one mailbox for 99% of your email correspondence. Duh. Wasting time going back and forward with potential hosts? Maybe have them fill out a form so you have all the required info. Reject any application that isn't complete. Can't keep track of where a request is at? Use a ticketing system.

    australians

ANZ7, ANZ8 are hosted by Internode ANZ10 by armaderp.com The others are down or out-dated. The ones also take a day usually to get the latest update, so with 3+ updates in the past 3 days they haven't been available most of the time if you've already updated. Try "Six Launcher" and the auto-queue feature. People connect and disconnect every minute, or don't support your local servers at all and just go play on US ones.
  8. Freeborne (DayZ)

All 1.7.1.4 ANZ servers have disappeared?

ANZ1-4 are AUSARMA ANZ5 is hosted by same provider. ANZ10 is hosted in same data centre. I believe our problems (ANZ1-4) are host related, not DayZ or our servers. They're looking into the routing issues for us. Something with MTU settings on a router may have changed. That would probably affect ANZ5, and possibly ANZ10.

    ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Servers are back up. The cause of the outage is being investigated. Please don't jump to conclusions and immediately throw the blame on someone and attack them, it can only back-fire if you're guess is wrong. With 200+ players effected we did give a possibly reason for the outage, but no need to take it for a certainty and then go on the war-path. You do know ANZ3+4 get shut-down tonight too. Won't be back for a day or two as it's moved to a new host... Thankfully you don't know where I live... Devs have been pretty good with us so far, and there are more then 4 ANZ servers, just none have updated to 1.7.1.4 yet.

DayZ should allow servers to be created at home

Do you have a license for Windows Server 2008? Do you have a static IP address? Are you 18 years or older? Do you have ANY experience running game servers, particularly ARMA2? You state the reason you want to have "your own" server is just so you can play with your mates, but say it will be a "normal" server. Please elaborate, because you are talking about 30-50 slot server, but you will have to password it if you want to just play with 'your mates'. This is against the DayZ TOS. It's an ALPHA, and they are trying to improve and test the mod, while also catering to the huge demand for this game by allowing PUBLIC servers to host it. What's in it for DayZ to allow you to host a private server? People who host from home have little to lose, and are probably going to be the first ones to try to abuse the system (hack the hive, dupe items, etc). Home server hosts would likely be higher maintenance too, causing issues for Devs, asking for help all the time, or abusing their admin rights against the players on "their" server.

Admin Abuse? NZ7 11:30am (west coast time)

It's about some dumb kid who think's he was kicked by an admin trying to protect his tent stash. The usual cry-baby player that's too stupid to accept how little they know about the subject, but think it's perfectly acceptable to come on public forums and bad mouth a server and accuse it's admins of abusing their powers, without even having any proof an admin was actually present on the server.

    DayZ Australia 5 Server Info

Hey Moochie, You won't be the only one that's had to shut down a DayZ server due to the enormous costs involved. If you still want to help out with supporting the DayZ community you can grab cm or myself on TS3 and we can probably work something out. Chris (ANZ6) is in similar position and we've agreed to work together to share the costs and workload in running the servers. It's still not cheap, but cheaper than what you're paying (yes, even after the referral pricing we gave you) so if you're serious about wanting to help with keeping servers up, get in contact with us.

20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon

Yes. Spawned a dozen times in the past with no weapons (or backpacks) when servers were bugged and it was still easy to find weapons/backpacks, but added a challenge that made it more satisfying to survive the initial spawn period.
  15. Freeborne (DayZ)

    Australian Servers

Which servers specifically are bad? If you go on the forums for several of the main ANZ providers, many don't know what they're doing, and admins are not actively playing the game, or around often to respond to issues, nor do they bother to read DayZ forums to know what's going on. AusArmA is run by players, and we have over a half a dozen admins hanging around on TS3 that can be easily reached when problems arise. We also have largest gathering of players in TS3 for DayZ in the region. We have had our fair share of issues and woes with DayZ too though. AFAIK, we run the same if not better hardware then the other ANZ hosts. Bandwidth has also never been an issue for us. Gigabit Ethernet is pointless as DayZ will never use it. Distance to Hive would have an effect, but I suspect it's very minor. We get about 160ms to Hive, as it's based in the US. Each player only sends a few byte of data to and from Hive every 30 seconds or so anyway, so it shouldn't make much difference at all. When ANZ1-4 have issues, it's usually resolved in a few minutes, maybe 30 minutes if it takes players a while to advise us. Vehicles and tents are spawning fine, etc. We don't have our servers bugged or down for hours or days at a time, and are first to update our servers as they come out, and not several days later. ANZ1 = +10 GMT ANZ2 - Beta required. +10 GMT ANZ3 = -2 GMT ANZ4 = Beta required, -2 GMT Several other ANZ hosts also have the time offset so you can play in daylight when you get home late from work/studies.
  16. As cm said, it will cost a lot if you want to host it in Australia (with the name of thread implies). Why do you want to host your own server? I see a lot of interest from different groups and players in hosting DayZ, but I have to be honest I think most people don't know what they're getting into, the level of commitment required, the costs, and how little you get out of it as a host. It will cost you several hundred dollars, which you and your mates must pay, to support a server that will be full of public players. There is currently no provision for you to password your server, reserve slots for yourself, kick players to make room for your clan, or enforce your own set of rules on the server. Every independent DayZ host in Australia I know of, is struggling with the costs, and they've all been up less than a month. We also have enough servers throughout ANZ to meet all demand! Most hosts in Australia will charge you $500 for 500GB. You need at least 2TB a month to run a 50 slot server comfortably. Do the math. You will need to negotiate with hosts to get a better deal if you want anything economically viable. Again, we at AusArmA have gotten a great deal, that no-one has come close to beating, and we've had several offers by other hosts to provide servers for us, but we are getting better deals then they are getting wholesale. If you want a cheap server, rent one from the US, but your server will be no different then any existing US server. It will not be dominated by Aussies, everyone will have low pings except you, etc. I just don't see the logic in doing this though unless you are adamant about 'owning' a server you play on. If you are serious about hosting DayZ, and for the long-haul, not just 1 or 2 months tops, talk to us at AusArmA, after you've shopped around and got some pricing.

    DayZ Australia 5 Server Info

It was not an official number, I just made a guess that you would be given ANZ10. ANZ9 is Glovine. Grim Re4per Death Squad *Rolls eyes* took #9 or #10. Can't remember, but they were banned from Hive after two days because they had NFI what they were doing. Outdated hive, allowed ACRE and other mods, etc. AFAIK, ANZ5 is never coming back, so they might give you that.

    FPS Sucks on DayZ Servers

Please move this out of Server forum, nothing to do with individual servers. It's a client-side issue. Turn off AA until the next hot-fix.

    Do *NOT* Spam Connections

Now the newer versions of Hive and HiveAuth spit out the player names of the data they are processing. So I can now see my own name come up in HiveAuth as I'm loading the mission. I'm stuck at "Waiting for Server Response". Argh.. I know that's never good. I wait.... I wait... I keep an eye on HiveAuth and it spits my name out several times.... that seems pointless, surely once is enough. Several minutes go by, and I'm sure something is wrong. Restart HiveAuth. Quit back to lobby. Load mission again and it takes about 30 seconds and I'm in. Advise everyone else stuck in the queue to quit to lobby and reload. Works for them too. There is something inherently wrong with HiveAuth and the mission scripting. I'm using 0.8 of Hive and it still requires a manual restart at times to fix these issues. It really should never take more than 3 minutes to load a player into the mission. If it does, I tell people to quit to lobby and try again. If they still have the same problem, check lots of other people are too, if so, grab an admin on TeamSpeak and let them know.

    New Oceania Server Coming Soon!

80 slots = 200GB approximately. 20 slots = 50GB approximately. The math doesn't look good sorry. This is with the current bandwidth requirements though, which could change for better/worse anytime Rocket releases new updates. They do warn all potential server hosts that they need at least 2-3TB per month to host a DayZ server. Edit: Yeah, 3TB will be fine. Install bandwidth software first chance you get and just play with the slot numbers.

    New Oceania Server Coming Soon!

All your specs are fine, but you will need more bandwidth to get you through the month. 1TB is only 33GB per day. If you run 50x slot server and data is calculated IN+OUT, you'll be able to run it for about 4-5 hours per day. I'll have to check our bandwidth stats later, but we're doing 8-12GB per hour now, with 2x40 slot servers. The last DayZ patch increased our bandwidth quite a bit though. I think we ran 120 slots 2 weeks ago and only did about 8-10GB per hour. We're doing 200-220GB per day though since 1.5.7.

    Aus NEEDS MORE SERVERS.

Moochie, we're using Cobalt Gaming. All the info is on our site. I saw you registered there, so send a PM on AusArmA to cm and myself if you want to share info, bugs, tips, etc. ANZ3 and ANZ4 should be up on Monday sometime. Just waiting on DayZ guys to add our 2nd server to IP whitelist and should be good to go. Games.on.net are also bringing up a 2nd server in a few days. So approximate numbers should be: 40x ANZ1 (AusArmA) 40x ANZ2 (AusArmA) 40x ANZ3 (AusArmA) 40x ANZ4 (AusArmA) 40x ANZ6 (Chris) 50x ANZ7 (GON) 50x ANZ7 (GON) 50x NZ1 (ON3) 50x NZ2 (ON3) 50x ANZ5 (approx. Moochie) Approximately 450 slots. 475 whenever NZ is up. Surely that's enough slots, right? Aussies and Kiwis just can't get enough of DayZ. ANZ3 and ANZ4 will go up as the other servers start to fill up. No point having lots of servers with 5 players each during the day. I tried to coordinate with the other hosts to do the same, but so far no-one has responded.

    Dayz NZ server.

NZ = USEC, Rocket's own server....
  25. There's no-one in the server. Is it possible they just lock it at certain hours of the day to keep their bandwidth usage down?
