what do you guy think a bandit is?
Ziggabot replied to leadergorilla's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A "Bandit" is a player that will strategically place himself into a good position where he can kill other players FOR A PURPOSE. Those who sit on sniper hill with an AS50 and simply fire at fresh spawns and blow up vehicles driving by for the fun of it do not even have the right to call themselves a decent player, much less a bandit. They are mediocre CoD players at best. I consider a Bandit to be a good player. They are smart, cunning, and think of creative and tactical ways to bring down their enemy. All of the spawn killers and kill-counters can go drive their UAZs into Chyornaya Bay for all I care. They are useless and add nothing to the game besides a headache. All the true Bandits can and should continue to play the way they know to play. With skill and strategy. You add the aspect of human fear that this game thrives on. Everyone else, (CoD Kill-Counters) I hope you cut your hands on a rusty can of beans and die a slow, painful death of tetanus. Okay off my soap-box :P -
But, if it shows any color other than green in the top right corner, your helicopter will leak fuel. This goes for every part on the heli. This can be particularly problematic if you like to park your heli far off the map so noone can find you...an emtpy chopper makes for a long walk back.

I know of two good, relatively low population servers that a new player may enjoy. Both are private hives, and free of hackers. If you use Dayz Commander (my personal preference of launcher) either type in "UK123" or "kidswift's chernarus adventure" Both are enjoyable, and I play on them regularly, so I may be able to provide assistance! Good luck!

Welcome SWEGTA! I encourage you to find someone you may know personally to learn the game from to start, as it does have a steep learning curve, and no known manual. If you enjoy learning on your own, by all means go ahead because it can be a rather fun experience :) If you have any questions just drop me a PM here or via my skype "Ziggabot" Good luck and maybe we will see each other in game soon! Good luck, and happy hunting.

You know you've been playing too much DayZ when...
Ziggabot replied to Siegfried's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Alright, yesterday I was walking along in my local park around dusk. I began to hear footsteps, and saw a person walking along the pathway. They raised their hand to wave hello, and instinctively as I raised my hand back I yelled "Friendly!"... This wouldent have been nearly as embarrassing, if it werent for the fact that this man also played dayz, and simply started cracking up as he realized what I had just said. We exchanged usernames and proceeded to go home to play with each other. .. It turns out he was actually a player I already knew in game. He played on the server I did. We had already met and aided each other several times in game. Probably the highlight of my dayz career. -
I'm a pretty experienced player, and run great as spotter and backup pilot in case you are injured, or low on blood and passing out. I am a good gunner though, and can handle myself well in a firefight. I'm mature, but know how to have a good time :P Add me on skype and steam, Ziggabot.

Ive played on several private hive servers, and I do enjoy having several vehicles on the map. I play for the realism, and in an actual zombie apocalypse all of the working vehicles woulden't just dissapear now would they? On the other hand, I don't like the idea of vehicles being as rare as makaraovs. They should still be something it takes some skill to work for, and maintain. We wouldent want every sinlge bambi running around with a huey crashing them repeatedly into cherno now would we? So no, they shouldent be as rare as a markarov, but in the standalone I would like to see them not take four days of hunting to find an unclaimed vehicle, simply for the realism aspect of it.

While it would benefit my playstyle for this to happen (I choose to run over zombies whenever possible, to preserver ammo) It would make zombie kill leaderboards a little unfair. A player who runs through all of cherno "placing lead to head" so to speak, would still not kill as many zombies as a player who simply drove through the same city, running over groups of four and five at a time. Right now, a zombie kill score of 100-200 will likely earn you the top spot on small servers. With this implementation, we would see a drastic raise in those scores, and an unfairness placed upon those who hunted their undead prey, as apposed to those who would just drive around door checking them all with their shiny SUV.

I totally agree, there is just a thrill that goes with seeing another one of those screaming little buggers fall in their own (if somewhat poorly animated :P ) way! And even more of a thrill to see those kills get into the top of the leaderboard, ahead of others by a couple hundered :D .

This is what I strive for! I play a hero character (Medic) but I also enjoy firing off a few rounds to let off some steam. So, I do this by killing zombies! I take pride in getting atop the zombie kills leaderboard for my server. This lets others know you are an experienced player, without making them think you will shoot them on sight.

Community Event - DayZ Hunger Games
Ziggabot replied to xXababXx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This sounds great! I will need to check to see if I see have anything I need done that day, and try to get it all finished beforehand so I can participate! And if I don't get the chance, then good luck to everyone! -
For some lower end computers, this can make a large difference. For higher end ones (which already run the game at 50+fps) you may not see a significant change.

do you think peripheral dots will be in dayz standalone?
Ziggabot replied to Pixelwarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree with Calibre in saying they were a great idea that was poorly done. They add to the lifelike simulation of the game (which is the main reason I play) but the ways they can be used gives players an unfair advantage. If one was to need food, they could simply turn their head from a large field, and any unseen animals by the players eye would show up as grey dots in his "peripherals". I would love to see them in the standalone, just fixed to the point that they act more as a realism effect, and less as an advantage. -
