I decided to write a story, about DayZ. Keep in mind that this is NOT the final thing, and is subject to change throughout the months that I will be writing this, I present to you: The Adventures of Stevie McBallCrusher! 1 Water was falling from the sky, creating a thin layer of water on the ground around you. Dark clouds depleted the sun from the Earth’s surface, casting the world into darkness. As you slowly began to open your eyes, you heard the sound of waves, crashing against the shoreline. The buzzing of flies was growing stronger, and you were tempted to bolt up to reveal your surroundings to your eye, but your body refused. You heard footsteps in the tiny sediments, and the sound of water separating from the boots of the figure, then everything went black. You awake again, this time easily, your eyes open fast, your ears are once more alert. As you study your surroundings, you notice you are underground. Liquid drips from cracks in the rock formations around you. You are lying on a wooden bed, with a thin mattress of air. There are 3 tables around you, with supplies and a book bag on each one; guns and ammo. You hear the footsteps of a figure approach you once more, but no longer in the sand. The noise echo’s through the cave, sending a small group of bats towards you, suddenly two bolts fly past your head, and the animals drop dead. “Hello there, my name is Jordan, I know you have many questions, but we have so little time. I found you laying the coast of Electrozavodsk. You were lying near 2 dead bodies, and there were many of the walkers around, you know what walkers are right?” The figure explains to you, with a slight grin on his face. “Excuse me? Walkers?” You reply to the man as if he is crazy! “Yes, there has been a zombie apocalypse, you, one of the lucky ones have not become one, yet. I will need to examine you to confirm you are not turning.” Jordan replied to your questions, and began to move towards a wall with medical supplies on its shelves. He pulls a cardboard box off the shelf, the marks on the side display as, “зомби тесты.” As he brings the box closer, and places it on one of the wooden tables, you see a label on the other side, “zombie tests.” Extracted from the box was a syringe, and a small machine, with a slot for the injection of liquids from a syringe. “This won’t hurt, okay, maybe just a little.” Jordan says, with a smile growing on his face. “Now, I would like you to know, that you are the second person I am testing with this, and that the needle is clean. I of course only change the needles if you are a zombie… So you know his results.” You become slightly paranoid after hearing his bold statement; yet are relieved to be in safety, and to know that the needle is new. You smile at the thoughts. “Alright, you ready? Don’t get lost in your day dreaming.” You realize that Jordan has been waiting for you to give him permission to begin the test. He inserts the syringe into your arm, as your smile transforms into a grimace. He inserts the syringe into the small slot for the machine to begin its test. As he pushes a button, the screen is covered in words, and you wait for the results. Chapter II coming soon!

The sense of accomplishment when staff post on your thread *Looks up at the ceiling, anticipating a flashback* OT: Not starting with a weapon definitely adds a challenge to the game, but it becomes very frustrating when you are playing solo, and have no means by which to defend yourself. I truly love the feeling when you find a weapon, be it a Markov or a hatchet. It is just... An indescribable feeling of accomplishment, as now you can enjoy the game, and defend yourself. Today I have seen a helicopter for the first time (it was flying, in the air) and it scared the shit out of me, but I started talking to whoever was flying, and they left me alone. I have yet to drive a vehicle, other than a bus. I do not want to count driving that bus as an achievment, because some hacker spawned it in front of me, and gave me a shit ton of stuff (it is ok though, because I died :P). I am really looking forward to finding a Ural with my friends, and would like to find someone to play with. Hopefully I will be able to write a story about my adventures, of course exaggeration at some points, dying every 10 minutes would not make a great story. I think it would be interesting to see the feed back from that, and it would allow for some entertainment, as I personally love to read the stories about the players that just start out!

Gameplay> realism You cannot see shit when in first person, when I am in a fire fight, I am 1st person, when trying to navigate, I use 3rd so I don't get a headache from the bobbing when you walk. I would like to remind u this is a game, not a simulator

Thanks, I will when I get home. Everyone is going for realism here, so we should start with a hatchet, because u know u own one, but I see where gameplay > realism

Stop Trollin and get off my thread. I posted my first impressions, and compared them to my wishes, I didn't sit here complaining it was too hard, infact, I wish the zombies were MORE advanced. Thanks Russums for the constructive feedback

Hey everyone, I am a new member of the forums, and have been following the forums since october. I have been waiting for the release of the standalone, but not I have become obsessed, and want to play the game really bad. So whats the issue? just buy the damn thing! The issue is that I cannot buy it, or I will be unable to purchase the standalone, and that is where everything is going. Any suggestions on what I could do? I know I can pirate it, and use software to play online with other pirates, but I don't want to, as it is illegal, and I think that it is unfair for the creators of Arma II.

Buy arma II Combined operations from steam, Then follow a tutorial on how to install it on the forums

Alright... Screw waiting, I canceled the netflix that I pay for, and everything else, and I will have enough for Arma II, and the standalone when it comes out! Sort of a pointless thread, but I was hoping there would be a cheaper solution to getting dayz, but still paying

Thank you for your advice, I guess i will keep my money until I can be sure I can make some money first. If anyone has any other suggestions, please reply. Thank you for your time, -John
