  1. I had a kinda similar experience yesterday, but not quite.. A fresh game went sour real quick, I ran out of ammo, food and bandages, was low on blood on bleeding and chased by zombies. I realized there was no way I could survive, so I sat down on the ground to wait for the inevitable. And suddenly, a bandit appears, shoots the zombies and patches me up, all the while I'm shouting "Please kill me!" He then leaves me with no ammo and so little blood that I constantly keep passing out. Asshole! :P If I had had any ammo, I would've fired at him to make him kill me, or kill him for what he did. It's possible that he saved me because he thought it was the right thing to do, but I have a feeling that he did it just to spite me... It took me another 10-20 mins before I finally died in a desperate raid on a warehouse (passed out right in front of a zombie).
  2. Wow, the 1st/3rd person issue seems to get people really going! We'll here's my thoughs. 1st vs 3rd person 3rd person looks better and gives you better awareness of your immediate surroundings, but makes ambushing other players ridiculously easy as you can stay 100% concealed while observing your surroundings with ease. Also, I can't understand while someone would think 1st person movement is clunky but 3rd person is not. THEY'RE THE SAME! Only the camera position is different, and I think most post-processing effects are off (You can turn post-processing off for 1st person from the game settings). Don't like ? Then turn them off, you silly person! Personally, I can live with either one, and I can't see a reason to force one or the other. Conclusion: Leave it up to server Crosshairs Not a dealbreaker for me, but having crosshairs makes fighting zeds somewhat easier, which I feel is not what this mod needs, and I can understand why they would break immersion for some. Conclusion: Off Playernames Spacebar scanning is totally unacceptable. Some form of player identification is desperately needed though, possible either seeing playernames only at a very close distance (and totally off for bandits? maybe not...) or different and distinctive character skins for different players. Conclusion: Vanilla playernames off, but should replaced with some other form of player identification
  3. I'm also stuck on the hourglass screen. I died, went to to "you're dead" screen, abort, rejoin, and was suddenly spawned back into my character couple of seconds before he died - but this time there were no zombies to finish me off. I'm unconscious, but the hourglass is not moving. Same result on other servers. I tried hitting esc while the game was loading and choosing "restart", and again I was taken to the "you're dead" screen, and spawned back into the unconscious body. Is there any kind of workaround for this? I can't play the mod at all because of this, which kinda stinks.
  4. Not really? I'm sorry but Afghanistan isn't some war-zone like you think it is. Plenty of tourists visit it' date=' news reporters, leaders of nations - Hell even family vacations. Humans have a little something called "Self-Preservation", you know? That little thing that prevents Israel and Iran from nuking the living shit out of each other and going into WW3? Because not everyone in the world is fucking blood thirsty and ruthless as they are when they're smiling behind a keyboard. We DON'T want our society to end. [/quote'] You missed my point. No matter how nice a place Afganistan is these days, it's not so because of a simple declaration by a couple of random guys. Also, the current Israel vs. Iran situation is not a very good analogy for a zombie apocalypse either. And just to let you know, another rather important reason for Iran and Israel not "nuking the living shit out of each other" is that Iran does not have nukes like you think it does. Sorry about that last bit, but you deserved it. :P
  5. I didn't get it. Could you please elaborate?
  6. That's actually a pretty funny story. That's like the a patrol of boy scouts going to Afganistan, and then declaring the entire country safe for all people - and expecting results. "Why can't we all just get along?" :D Seriously, in the case of zombie apocalypse and the breakdown of civil society, declarations mean nothing. A safe zone is a great idea, but your implementation was lacking.

    The PvP Discussion Thread

My two cents: I don't feel player killing is in itself a problem, but the fact that you can't really defend yourself or even take revenge is. I have so far been killed four times by other players, twice I admit I was being careless, but for the other two times I can't imagine what I could have done any better. It was one shot kill from behind every time, so no change to shoot back, and no idea who it was. Personally, I don't mind that happening every now and then, but I can understand why someone would have his playing experience ruined when hours of progress are erased in a second by a distant sniper or a random encounter - several times in a row. Here's a couple of ideas: 1. Make PvP combat slightly less lethal, to give the player under attack a change to react (maybe make weapons less accurate or players less vulnerable to firearms) 2. Some way to recognize players. X was killed by Y message would be nice. I don't know how you could implement player recognition in ArmA, but some way to tell players apart would go a long way in determining how to react when you see another player. All in all, I would like to give non-murdering players a fighting chance, not to penalize murderers.
