    1.7.1.5 loot patterns

Anyone else make vaguely definitive proclamations about statistical probabilities after only experiencing a very small, isolated sample size and using the human brain's consistently unreliable statistical estimation mechanisms to analyze the situation?

    elektro/cherno intended to be manditory?

Berezino has a hospital so, no, Cherno/Elektro are by no means required.

    Reporting this.....

Fair question but irrelevant. He doesn't need a TOS to ban any fucking one for any fucking reason he wants.

    Reporting this.....

Ahh, the age old rule holds true. The first people to bring up freedom of speech are always the last to understand what the fuck it means.
  5. And, just so we're clear, the "proof" you're going to bring to BE when you take it up with their appeals department is that you guys have been long time fans of the game and are "honorable?" That's really what you're going with?
  6. That was before I watched infected eat my wife and children alive. Now I shoot anyone I see. Preferably in the head so all their red and grey thinkystuff comes out on the ground.
  7. Let me guess, you didn't actually read this book? Or if you did, you didn't have the attention span to make it to the parts where they encounter people whose intentions they AREN'T SURE OF and it creates INCREDIBLE TENSION and an AMAZINGLY HEART-POUNDING STORY? Did you get to those parts? Hmm?
  8. Hmph' date=' imagine that. Exactly the kind of vapid, elitist attitude that might make one think it's okay to cheat in DayZ since it's just a bunch of "kiddies." Wonder if this sort of thinking runs in your group? Hmm. Curious indeed. Yes. A groundswell of interested players and a ton of extra revenue the developer can invest in new and existing products. Such a disaster. Oh, woe be you and your ethos. I've been an ARMA player long term too, bud. You sound like a complete douche and I don't think you represent anything but your own personal interests so you can stop acting like you speak for "the community."
  9. Eventually they should put up a huge retaining wall, like a quarantine wall. Topped with razor wire and active automated SAM batteries. Beyond the wall a wasteland of scorched earth, radiation, and a limitless zombie horde.

ARE YOU HAPPY WITH THE AMOUNT OF AMMO?

IT'S DIFFICULT TO TELL SINCE ALL OF MY PARTIAL CLIPS MAGICALLY REFILL WHEN I LOGIN. WE NEED TO FIX THAT VERY CRITICAL BUG BEFORE WE HAVE AN INTELLIGENT DISCUSSION ABOUT THE FREQUENCY WITH WHICH AMMO SPAWNS. WHY ARE WE SHOUTING?

IF this was an actual game...

Except that that perfectly describes EVE. But, yeah, mostly true.

Neither are brutally hardcore milsims, but that's what ARMA has been since it's inception and it's still going strong. If you want "normal games" and "traditional business models" then you need to go back to EA/Ubisoft/Activision land. You're not going to find it here. That's not what ARMA is about and it's certainly not what DayZ is about.

Great. There are plenty of games designed for normal people. I don't care if DayZ appeals to them. Who said they're trying to do that? Have you read anything at all about their plans for this game? Insane? Perfect. That means DayZ is going in the right direction.

Really. I promise. It's one of the first things the designer said about his vision for DayZ. It's an anti-game' date=' not meant to entertain you but to challenge your concepts of what a "game" is, and experiment with social and moral dilemmas. Because there are emotions other than "fun" that are interesting to explore and experiment with? Like stress, frustration, uncertainty, fear, confusion, loneliness, anger, pain and sadness? Because life isn't all fucking masturbation and cartoons for me?

It's not supposed to be fun. Try reading a few things the designer has to say before going off on other people about their grasp of the concepts. That being said, this is a bad idea for plenty of OTHER reasons - not least of which being it's totally self-defeating and insanely ludicrous to ask people to test an Alpha build and then deny them access to the game for, on average, 8 out of every 8.5 hours of potential testing time.
  16. To all of the people claiming this hurts people with "legit" tents, I just want to point out that very few people actually know whether or not their tent setups are legit. Tents you found on the ground and especially those on player bodies could easily have come from the results of a duping fest. Perhaps you personally were not at fault in the duping, but that doesn't mean your tent is legitimate. It could very well be a copy of a copy of a copy 10 generations removed from the original tent - the only one that was actually supposed to exist. And, yes, I realize some of you found tents long ago in grocery stores and you've probably got a 95% or better confidence level that it's a legitimate tent, and you're probably right, so you don't have to pen up a long-winded response lambasting me for making false accusations and painting you with too wide a brush. This is a time when "it's Alpha" can never be spoken more truly. Advanced mechanics like tents, vehicles, etc. are under constant threat of wipe in my opinion - and should be. These items are the "end game" of DayZ if anything is. They are a turning point between the initial struggle for survival and supplies, and the "late game" hunt for vehicle parts, working vehicles, and advanced weaponry and equipment. With a tent, it's easier to get a vehicle, and with a vehicle - more tents and other vehicles. Long story short tents are a fulcrum in the game. An absolutely critical mechanic that effects game play behavior in a myriad of ways. If we want the play experience we have to be reflective of the actual game - and more importantly for the data rocket is gathering on our activities in the game to be accurate and informative, then we must accept the wipe and understand that all benefit by playing in a "legitimate" environment free of an over-saturation of what is really supposed to be a very rare item. Expecting them to somehow mine the data and tease out which tents are "real" and which ones dupes, well, that's simply an unreasonable level of effort to maintain data integrity at a time (Alpha) when data integrity is simply not a priority on the plate. It's easy to get emotionally invested, I realize. You just have to try and remember we're all flying through the air at supersonic speeds in a plane that's held together with chicken wire and bubblegum and missing half a wing. Things are libel to get bumpy, and every once in awhile some of us are going to fall out.
