    Deer stands or Airstrips/barracks?

http://picacid.com/arma2/loot_en.html Do yourself a favor and bookmark it. It draws directly from the game files so it's accurate. In short, crashed helicopters have the most rare/unique gear, followed by barracks (airfields) and then deer stands/firestations which tend to have a more limited selection like.
  2. I remember when this game was an idea before the web existed and the founder of reddit was in middle school eating pudding cups.

Do tents disappear when a server restarts?

If you "save" a tent, it should persist. Sometimes the server loses its connection to the hive and "forgets" where tents and vehicles are. A proper server restart will almost always bring them back. Check again in a few hours if your stuff is missing.

    UK87 Everything Wiped?

Happened to me ~6 times in the past month, the stuff always comes back after a proper restart though. Post a message in server general if it persists for more than an hour or two; ask politely for a restart.

    Where's the communication?

Direct Communications are still functional. Use them to treat with people nearby. At a distance, I recommend non-threatening body language, not "running up" to a survivor you haven't talked to yet, and attempting to use smoke grenades or cook fires to indicate your non-hostile intentions from a distance. Also, there are many small groups, guilds and clans cropping up all around DayZ who would be more than happy to have you. Contact them here on the forums, or google for clan sites, teamspeak servers, etc. Work hard to convince anyone you know in real life with a passing interest in either gaming or zombie fiction to join you. Any enthusiast in either of those hobbies should be more than happy to at least give it a try with you. Maybe you will even talk to someone you haven't in awhile. Lastly, the game will not be a "deathmatch" unless you choose to play it that way. I have played hours a day every day for the last 32 days and I have totaled 1 death and ~5 murders (most of which were against people firing at me and missing, or trying to steal my stuff) in that time. Probably 60-80 hours in game, doing a variety of activities. Yes, I've been attacked (once successfully!), but what deathmatch game involves 1 death a month? Play safe, play smart. If you are smarter than your enemies, you can avoid confrontation or enter it on your own terms in which case you will have the upper hand. Communication is a precious resource like ammo, food and water. Giving it away for free on side chat was boring. Now you work for it. You will make contact I promise. In DayZ and in real life too.

    Longest survival?

Last survivor was 19 days. Current is going on 13. Probably ~70 hours survived combined between the two.

Suggestion for cutting down on bandits

Yet DayZ has it and somehow manages not to resemble any of those games in any way. And yet again you fail to address my basic question. Why is it fun and amazing and spectacular if the game is full of mindless zombies who "kill on sight" but as soon as it has players doing the same' date=' suddenly it's CoD? I guess kill on sight is only bad if they actually have a chance of succeeding? 2 kills in the last 19 days, remember? That's not what I do. We just fucking talked about this. No, I actually can't. I have to think about everything I do in the game because I know I'm facing a human enemy who is dangerous and unpredictable, not a scripted AI that I can fool and cheat and avoid entirely. I think about every decision I make. Every step I take. Every sound I make I consider. I think constantly in the game. Why? Because human enemies are hunting me and I don't know how they are going to act. 2 kills. 19 days. 1 death in the last 32. Remember? We've talked about all of this before. I will keep repeating it until you at least pretend like you hear me and then resort to accusing me of lying about it no doubt. Anything to support your preconceived notions of superiority. Trolling? Bigotry? What are you on about now, dude? It seems like the more you write, the more ridiculous shit you just start pulling out of your ass and slapping up on the screen. Seriously. Bigotry? What the fuck are you fucking talking about? Can you justify accusing me of that in any land that isn't a fantasy one constructed in your head? You're a hero. That's what you are. You're right. Fighting the good fight. Not giving up until you succeed in taking PvP out of the one game in the history of the online gaming industry that looks like it might actually get it right finally. The game we have all been waiting for, dreaming about, as each and every game in the past 15 years has promised PvP and then disappointed us with watered-down, mainstream bullshit. Now, now when there's finally an opportunity to see truly unrestricted PvP and player-driven content in an open-world succeed in a very real way, now you're going to swoop in like some kind of misguided super hero and rescue us all from it. Thank you SO much, kind sir. I almost had the gaming experience I've been waiting for all my life until you showed up and made me realize that I was wrong and what I really wanted was another generic zombie survival game. You have truly rescued me from a fate untold. Others surely will see it too, and shower you with gifts, flowers, and all the handjobs you desire. I don't know. I play DayZ. You can go wherever the fuck you want. What are you talking about? Why are you just saying things that have no basis in reality? Do you think if you just say them they become true? I really don't understand why your posts are peppered with these fucking ridiculous personal predictions and accusations, all of which thus far have been woefully inaccurate by the way.

Suggestion for cutting down on bandits

Have you read any of my posts on this forum in its entirety? Do you ever get past the first few sentences? I even took a screenshot for you of the 2 murders I've had in the past 19 days' date=' but you simply ignore it. It's like you can't believe that someone might not want to ENGAGE in unrestricted PvP while simultaneously supporting its presence in the game. Should I say it again? DayZ is more than a shooting gallery to me. I avoid zombies and players alike. I play to survive and I'm doing a damn good job of it with 1 death in the last 32 days or so. 300+ hours in the game and less than 10 murders total, probably? I don't hunt players - though I'll kill them if they come near me or my possessions including any of the many vehicles I have repaired and/or stolen. Yet, everything I've done in the game has been more interesting because at any moment I might have been attacked by another player out for blood. Every second in the game is intense precisely because I'm not sure whether or not I'm being hunted by a homicidal maniac. You're still not quite getting what I'm driving at with the comparison between zombies and bandits. Let me try again: You are okay with mindless killing machines as long as they are run by the computer and AI scripts. That's fine. Once those enemies take on a human intelligence, however, as they have in DayZ - you now claim lack of immersion and game-breaking issues. So, no. You DON'T want intelligence in your games. You want to remove it. You don't want to face it because by your own admission you "can't counter it" for some reason (isn't that the whole idea behind tactics?). Can you explain to me why hordes and hordes of mindless killing machines is okay when it's AI, but abhorrent when its humans? Why one challenge that's predictable and repetitive and technically difficult is preferable over a human challenge that is unpredictable, dynamic, ever-changing and absolutely tech-free because it only relies on the glory of the human mind? Don't you see? People complain all the time like "That game's okay but the AI sucks." Well, guess what the best AI ever is? Just regular old I. Nothing artificial about it. Just like the zombies, their singular mission is to take your life - but unlike the zombies you can't trick them by running into a building or hiding behind a tree and they're not going to just stand still and line up and let you shoot them one at a time. I know, I know. Enemies that can think and adapt and challenge you in unexpected ways are SCARY. I get that. But they are infinitely more interesting than the brain-dead zombies. No matter how many hundreds of hours the team pours into designing a zombie AI it will never be as compelling as facing off against a real human mind. rocket understands that, and that is why he is holding on to PvP, unrestricted, pure and raw. Yet, every single suggestion you have supported from bringing back side chat to curbing PvP would actually take DayZ further away from being unique and bring it closer to those mainstream sequels. You're a poser, dude. DayZ is innovating and you want to dial it back and maintain the status quo, and you act like YOU'RE the one defending its purity. DayZ is doing fine without your help. The intensity that comes from facing off against human opponents in an unrestricted environment is precisely it's most important element both thematically and game play-wise and you are in here every day trying to poke holes in it and rip it to shreds and it makes me want to slap your silly face.

    Bandit catering?

If only putting "Fact" and a colon in front of something had the magical power to make it true, you would be the master of the universe.

    Bandit catering?

2 murders in the last 13 days. One was a survivor who shot my brother' date=' the other tried to steal my truck. Yes, "hardcore bandit." You [b']know everything about me, don't you? Maybe I just like the element of intensity and uncertainty that PvP adds to the game? Maybe I like collecting beans more when my life is in danger? Maybe I find enemies with human intelligence more interesting than scripted, AI-driven mindless computer drones? Maybe I welcome the stresses and frustration of being hunted? Maybe I play the game specifically for that reason, because if I just wanted to walk around shooting zombies and collecting goodies I could go play any of the other games that let me do exactly that? Maybe I like DayZ the way it is because it's different, and doesn't bow down to shouts from people like you who think it tastes too strong and want to mix it with kool aid so it goes down easier? Know how not to get sniped? Don't stand still out in the open. Use cover. Move from cover-to-cover and stay low. Play smart. If you can't get the upper hand on these players that you seem to accuse of being mindless idiots then what does that say about you? Learn how to beat them, don't ask the game designer to do it for you.

Suggestion for cutting down on bandits

Call me whatever you want. Your ridiculous labels are as empty as all the facts you put forth as evidence in your misguided quest against PvP in this game. I've murdered ~5 people in the last month. Roughly one per week. I suppose you can call me a "griefer" if it really makes you feel better and though "pathetic" is a bit harsh I'll let you have that one too because I really don't give a shit anyway. So just so we're clear you are saying that Survivors can't Survive because Bandits make it too hard to Survive? Is that REALLY your argument? That it's no fun to survive because there are people who try to make it hard to survive? And you want us to have a serious discussion with you about the future of the game? I try so hard to remain civil in these discussions but at some point it just becomes so easy to say a bunch of nasty things about how ass-backwards your logic is and leave it at that. Bandits make it hard to survive. If you want a challenging survival game' date=' you should thank the bandits[/b']. But, you don't. You don't actually want a survival challenge. You want predictable enemies. You want certainty. You want DEFINED safety and security. No more of this not sure what lurks around the corner for you. You want RED NAMES over bandits heads so you can go the other direction and pick flowers or some ridiculous shit. You are free to avoid it. If you cannot figure out how to avoid people who want to kill you then you are not a very good survivor. So, get better at surviving and earn the name for once.

    Bandit catering?

If you're going to pull ridiculous facts out of your ass' date=' at least pretend to back them up with something. So "it's allowed" now qualifies as massive pandering. Really? It's a PvP game. PvP is permitted. Holy shit, someone call the newspapers. Why don't you just quit now, dude? Seriously. You obviously don't like the game, and it's not going to become a PvE game overnight. So just go away? You spend hours a day on the forums crying about PvP why don't you just go play one of the hundreds and thousands of games that don't have it already built in as a central part of the theme and game? Okay, elaboration commencing: If you are attacked by a bandit and get the upper hand, he can disconnect and you don't get any loot. If you are attacked by a bandit and disconnects are fixed, then you can get the upper hand, kill the bandit, take all of his awesome gear and use that against any other bandits you might come across thus increasing your chances of survival and that of your companions. Fixing exploits benefits everyone. Not rocket science.

Suggestion for cutting down on bandits

I love this argument. Too many mindless killers in the game! Please add more mindless killers. The only reason you prefer the zombie threat over the human threat is that zombies are AI and you know that no matter how good a zombie AI is, you will always be able to beat it. But a human intelligence, well, that you're not so sure of. So it's not actually the "mindless killing" that you have a problem with, it's moreso the ones WITH a mind than you're afraid of. Well, too bad. Adapt and survive or die over and over again.
  15. Or, perhaps it shows a keen understanding since they apparently know exactly how to put that particular part of your human nature to the test in a way that has clearly taken you out of your comfort zone and made you feel emotions you're not used to feeling in a game which is precisely what rocket has said he intends to do with the product. Like magic, no?

    my thought on this game..

Hey. Welcome to the forums. Two quick things: One, DayZ will likely move to ARMA III when it launches, which I imagine will have some improvements you might be interested in. Two, DayZ will likely go stand-alone and branch from the primary ARMA engine before moving to Beta or Final. This, at least, is the "latest plan" stated by the developers. So, keep the faith and help us all test the mod and find bugs!
  18. You sound like my wife. This isn't about me. This is about what YOU want. YOU said you wanted to communicate. YOU said you wanted community. That's what YOU want. I don't even have a stake in this game. I'm just saying if YOU want something and you have every tool at your disposal to make that thing possible' date=' then YOU can go out and do it yourself. There's literally nothing stopping you from building a community of DayZ players up around a server and getting together with them to play on a regular basis as friend or foe. Just go do it. Now. What are you waiting for? You're here arguing when you could be off right now getting what you want. Next up on the server option list: less zombies, no PvP, unlimited ammo, free food, free water, etc. Communication is an asset in the game just like all of these things. And just like ammo, food, and water you're going to have to work for it now. I think it's interesting. so does rocket. Why don't you? DayZ is amazingly innovative and all I hear all day on the forums is "BRING BACK THE STATUS QUO!" Ugh. Boring. And rocket wanted to TRY THIS OUT and asked people to give it a chance (like, more than a week maybe?) and keep an open mind. If every server just flipped the switch back to ON we would never get a chance to really see it play out and experiment with it and see what happens. It would be a pointless test. Forcing it on people makes them necessarily adapt to the changes, and rocket gets good info from that. At least, you hope he does. If people would just buckle down and give it a month or two before making up their minds. Clearly there's not a consensus on THAT. Yes, funny, that. How the two people using the forum to communicate with a DayZ player about their inability to communicate with other DayZ players have both come to the same silly conclusion about my critique of their logic. Like a couple of chimps fighting over a banana and you're surprised it broke in half.
  19. ZedsDeadBaby

    Terribly flawed game right now.

Imagine you have a friend who is a great artist. He knows you're interested in art, so he graciously invites you to come over and watch him paint a picture and even provide your feedback. You show up at the appointed time and your artist friend takes his place on a stool near a blank canvas. He's relaxing. Maybe takes a sip of water and stretches his fingers a bit. He asks if you're ready. You slap the water out of his hand and punch him in the mouth and say "Your art sucks. I'm out of here asshole." Seem odd? Because that's pretty much what you just did. Douche.
  20. Remember when we had to call our friends on the phone and ask them if they wanted to come over to play games? My god this forum is awash with a bunch of panty-waist crybabies. If you want to communicate, go do it. Oh, no. The game doesn't serve it up to you on a bright cyan platter anymore. I guess you should just give up and go home because you "can't communicate" anymore, right? No point thinking of a way around the issue. No point using that half-cooked turd muffin stuffed between your ears to come up with a way to work around the fact that you don't have a magical Godly voice that carries 20km in all directions at once. Nothing to be done but quit playing, run to the forums, and immediately demand a new library of nicely-organized, topically-categorized, brightly-colored chat channels to that we can all sit around and talk about our days and philosophy and soap operas and Pokemon and who's shooting in Cherno and are you friendly and and kumba-fucking-ya we can even sing campfire songs. Holy shit take your goddamn diapers off and take some responsibility for your own experience in the game. I have met more new gamers through DayZ than I have since the early days of WoW. And not a single fucking one of them through side chat. Figure it out. It's not rocket science. You're a human you're supposed to be good at this thinking and communicating shit.
