Just a total coincidence that these "few" posts happened to be in response to your idea of adding a quest system to DayZ. Sorry we got off on the wrong foot. Why not? Recognizing other humans they have seen before is something humans are exceedingly good at. They don't do a great job describing people they have seen before' date=' but if they see them again their facial recognition and memory is uncanny. No reason not to emulate this in the game. So you won't support a system that would allow you to penalize murderers, but you want the game to do it for you through some magical, arbitrary system of punishment? rocket has explicitly stated this is not going to happen. -

The idea that all camps are "miles" off map is a myth. Unless you have a helicopter, which are currently disabled on all but a very small number of servers, then it is completely pointless to hide your camp off the map. It requires enormous amounts of time to run back and forth, and consumes more fuel than even a storehouse of Jerry Cans can make up for. You would be spending 90% of your time in game traveling back and forth to your camp and 9 of the other 10% fetching fuel to make up for it. Then you're halfway back to the map and your friend logs in now you have to turn around... It's just not that common. Our camps are never more than 1000m from a road so we can access fuel and travel quickly around searching for players and loot. And many other camps are this way. I have stumbled across camps with 4-6 vehicles in them on multiple occasions. Stop crying about "hoarders" and get out there and start hunting for vehicles. They're not that hard to find. -

Absolutely not. Vehicles get stolen and destroyed constantly. So I keep backups. I have ~4 vehicles hidden in different places at any one time. "It's not fair," is bullshit. Go find my vehicles if you want them. I'm not online 24/7 and even when I'm online I'm not just camping my vehicles. Go find them. There right there. Over there in the woods. You can practically see them from the road. Use your eyes. Those wet balls in your face holes. Yup, those are the ones. -

Okay' date=' so if it doesn't fall from the sky, where does this magical chest come from, and how do you restrict access to only those who have completed the "quest"? Does it grow out of the ground? Do keys magically appear in everyone's inventory? What if I murder someone who has a key? Do I get access now? If not, why not? Too much magical hooey-phooey. Sorry. It's just not going to work in Dayz. That critique makes absolutely no sense. Did you even read the thread in question?

This isn't ARMA. It's DayZ. And yes, in this case, the "it's not WoW' argument applies. You seriously want loot falling from the sky in DayZ because you "completed a quest?" Come on. Get serious. Literally.

BRING BACK BANDIT SKIN PETITION

Let players create their own system of classification. No magical skins that appear on people for being naughty. No God-like observer inside the machine watching everything and judging everyone. YOU observe behaviors and YOU judge them. Your job. Not the game's. -
I did read it. This isn't WoW. We're not going to have quests or missions or NPCs and we're sure as shit not dropping magical loot boxes from the sky just for killing some zombies. Make your own missions.

Let players assign their own flags. Much better system. More realistic and more appropriate for a sandbox. Complete power and responsibility rests with the players to observe behavior and make their own judgements. No third party judge built into the system. Curious to see you argue against this one since it accomplishes what you want (labels players based on behavior) but does so without the need for magical faeries to come along and change peoples' clothes or paint their faces pretty colors for you. -
A harsher consequence for bandits

Bullets are the harshest penalty of all and they're already in the game. -
My guess is 1.7.2 has been delayed because BIS has really begun to realize the opportunity DayZ represents and has devoted more resources to the mod. More resources means more structure and more time between updates because more work is going on which means more smoke-testing must be done internally before an update can be rolled out. I expect 1.7.2 is going to have a lot more than the update thread currently lists. I predict fixes for disconnect exploits, tweaks to zombie detection behavior, path finding, and "warp through terrain" issues, vehicle physics tweaks, more item duplication fixes, etc. In fact, they might skip 1.7.2 altogether and release 1.8.0. Just a guess.

Not just shit loot. Guns that explode when you fire them. Magazines with blanks. Tents that catch fire randomly after 48 hours. NVGs that blind you. Permanently. -
Good question; I'm not sure what effect it has on spawns. It's like a medical crate though - you can't take it away you can only empty it.

Tent and Vehicle Storage - How not to glitch?

Right now every tent you ever place will be there forever. If you pack a tent and place a new one, you now have two tents (on server restart). If you do it again, it's three. And so on. If you die, your tents will not disappear. All of this will likely be resolved in 1.7.2 but for now it's tent-a-palooza out there.
