Big companies could never make DayZ. That's kind of the point. They will make WoW with zombies and DLC and "epic loot" and boss zombies, because that's what the "market" wants. No major publisher will ever put a game with the features of DayZ.

DayZ is going to be based on ARMA 3 most likely. And WarZ is 5 fucking concept screenshots that clearly were not taken from a working game. So what the fuck are you talking about?

People are hacking all the time, why not add the ability to spawn any vehicle and gun you want?! Figuring out where you spawned and where your friends are and traveling to meet them is part of the challenge of the game. Absolutely zero reasons to take it out. And given that rocket has made a post specifically asking people not to exploit re-spawns, it's very unlikely he's going to add it as a voluntary mechanic.

Depends on how much time passes between murders and what the humanity level was of the people you murder, I believe. Someone who is "almost" a bandit is not worth as large a humanity penalty as someone who is completely innocent. A rough rule of thumb is 3-5 murders in a single session.

I'm sure you don't honestly believe bugs & glitches account for a majority of deaths. Hyperbole doesn't advance the discussion. 10% maybe? I think that's high personally. But, even if we give it 15% or 20% we're still left with 60%+ of deaths coming directly from these completely harmless zombies. And, yes, I'm sure many zombie deaths are concentrated among the newer player population who haven't figured out the zombie detection mechanics yet. But, shouldn't this be expected and accepted? Veteran players ought to survive more effectively than new players against the game's secondary threat (primary being players). Look, I'm not arguing against improved zombie behaviors or AI. rocket himself has said on many occasions that their current behavior is not ideal and is in many ways hamstrung by the ARMA 2 engine. For example, their inability to run indoors is not intentional. That's one of the foremost reasons why they are not dangerous. If running into a building while a horde of zombies on your ass just meant being in closed quarters with a horde of zombies, things would get very real very quickly. What upsets me is that every discussion must needs be predicated on some kind of ridiculous hyperbolic claim that the game is "pure deathmatch" or zombies are "completely pointless." There's a destination and we're not there yet, but we're somewhere on the road and based on rocket's posts he has plans to keep moving in a good direction. We should put our efforts into discussing how zombies might be improved, not coming up with elaborate systems that appear to presume zombie behavior will never improve from its current state. -

Edit: So I don't have to mention this 15 more times in the thread, deaths by respawn are not counted among these stats (source). Updated 22nd July Another huge week for new players: 168,691 new survivors. Meanwhile, banditry and murder rates as a percentage of totals have held basically steady. No major swings in one direction or the other. Though, to note, still lower in both categories than they were two weeks ago. Interesting!

Re-spawns are ignored. I was nice enough to point this out ahead of time to try and avoid having to bring it up immediately afterward so thanks. -

Says the guy who started a new thread to discuss what has been discussed in 500 other threads in the last 48 hours. Like your personal take on the situation is somehow more deserving of attention than the 499 other people who have brought up this issue. Hackers are a problem. The developers have acknowledged it and are working on it. BattleEye is doing a decent job - all you have to do is read the ban appeals forum to see that. When DayZ goes stand-alone, which it will, the problem will be drastically reduced. Until then, shut your fat mouth and be patient. Or don't - quit and come back after DayZ goes stand-alone. In the meantime, we don't need a new fucking thread about it every 10 minutes, jagoff. -

If I knew that every person I killed would take it so fucking personally, I would do it all day, every day until they wised up. If going to Cherno or Elektro to gather up loot didn't carry with it the threat of getting shot in the face by some asshole, this game would be a boring suck-fest. Oh, boo-hoo, you didn't have free reign to run around some of the highest-value loot locations in the game getting every item you could possibly need to survive in the span of 40 minutes with no threat whatsoever. Like why doesn't rocket just build a fucking WAL*MART on the coast and you can go there when you spawn and nobody will be allowed in if they have been alive for longer than 15 minutes and that way you would be safe to wander the aisles in your mustard-stained sweatpants munching on a breakfast burrito from McDonald's while you gather up all the supplies you could ever possibly want to survive as long as you desire? Would that satisfy you? We could even put in a LENS CRAFTERS so you can get your glasses prescription replaced while you shop. Big city = big threat. Yes, from players. No, they don't want your gear. They want this. They want you to be frustrated enough to post an asinine thread about it on the forums. That makes them happy. And no, that doesn't make them "assholes" or "douchebags" or "jerks" or whatever other derogatory statement you want to throw at them. DayZ is designed to facilitate this kind of play. People are supposed to be victimized, especially those who are naive enough to wander into Cherno or Elektro. How many times do you have to be told not to go near those places? 100? 500? What will it take before you realize they've never been safe? They're not safe today, they weren't safe yesterday. They will never, ever, ever be safe. If you want to take the easy way out and go there for loot immediately after spawning, accept that that means you are going to be shot in the face 9 times out of 10. Don't start a new thread about it every time it happens, though, okay? -

Just two quick things because I don't have the energy to participate in this discussion - the same one that takes place every single day on these forums. PvP only accounts for 16% of player deaths, so clearly zombies are doing something. No, the stats do not include positional re-spawns. rocket intends players to be the main threat in DayZ so complaining that players are the main threat is like saying "I don't want to play DayZ." So don't. There are other zombie-focused mods out there for you. -
rocket has stated that he would rather shut the game down entirely than implement rules and punishments against certain styles of play, including "shoot on sight" PvP. A respawn delay is a punishment. So rocket will shut the game down before he implements your idea. This will not happen. Nor will anything like it. Ever. Can we end the thread here?

Haha, 4 hours? Big fucking deal dude. I just lost a Day 20 survivor. 80+ hours in game. 500 zombie kills, ~10 bandit kills, few muders. Full set of gear. I went prone by a tree. Game over. No big deal. You say you realize it's alpha but the fact that this post exists means you don't really understand what that means.

Except the stats say exactly the opposite. Bandits are ~18% of the players. But account for over 40% of the deaths. As per Vipeax, before you ask for a source. You can find the post yourself. -
Rocket has explicitly stated he's not interested in realism. He went out of his way to say that's not the point of the game.
