US1457 Random ban. Admin's name "jason"
ZedsDeadBaby replied to FrankDaTank1218 (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Might want to put the server name in the title. -
"Open" the bag on the ground. Now "Open" your bag on the gear menu. Carefully transfer the contents of your bag into the bag on the ground using the gear transfer arrows. Now close the gear menu. Finally "Take" the bag on the ground. This will replace the bag you're wearing with the one on the ground which will have all your gear in it already.

Taking a break from DayZ
ZedsDeadBaby replied to hooligan (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Umm, yes. Pretty much exactly that. It's not like they made it a secret, dude. They specifically said "We're releasing the Alpha so you can come help test and give suggestions." If you slapped down $30 without knowing that, it's your own fault. Most of us are glad for the opportunity and happy to help. -

Adding "skills" to limit senseless PvP killing Player learned and teachable skills
ZedsDeadBaby replied to firefox (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I wish people could just post a suggestion without coming up with some flimsy pretext to attach it to some kind of statement against PvP. Senseless PvP is senseless, is it not? People who engage in it don't consider the consequences. They're not going to give a flying fuck if they lose their "suture" skill because they don't use it anyway. They're going to shoot you. All day, every day. Skills are a cool idea, but they won't change the PvP landscape in the least. "Griefers" will continue to kill indiscriminantly, and most other players will utilize their skills on trusted friends and existing companions, not on random strangers in the game - they will still kill those on sight. You want a solution to senseless PvP? Keep your eyes open and avoid it. -
Got Banned for not Playing?
ZedsDeadBaby replied to Domenico (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Okay. Now let's talk a bit about what you were doing before that. -
Every day another thread, another circular discussion going nowhere because the discussion is based upon a fundamentally flawed premise: that there are two types of people in DayZ - survivors and bandits. Nobody ever wants to account for the fact that most players are somewhere in between. I do all of the things people seem to claim they want from the "survivor" portion of this game - I travel with companions, I share food, water and equipment, I bandage wounds and apply blood bags and epi-pens, I defend my friends from zombies and players, I cooperate to build and repair vehicles, I search for high-value loot, I've explored every inch of the map, I help new players learn the game and acquire basic tools for survival, etc. I do all of this every day I play the game. But, I do it with people I know and trust. If I don't know you and don't trust you and you run up on my squad expecting a high-five and a hug? You're going to get whipped into a fine paste by my M249. Is that a flaw in the game design? That I don't want to be best friends with every stranger that sidles up to me unannounced? I say no. I say a flaw would be some system of arbitrary and artificial restrictions and rules that would force me to be friends with you even though I don't want to. There are reasons I don't have more friends than I do already, and I don't want to play a game that forces me to make more. The day rocket adds some mechanic to force me to team up with every Cheeto-fingered, Mt. Dew-swilling ne'er-do-well who plays the game is the day I retire. I've tried cooperating with random strangers I meet in the game. They run when they should walk, stand when they should crawl, shoot when they should wait, approach when they should stay back, lack communication skills, basic terrain knowledge, map-reading skills, etc. This usually results in my death or the death of a friends from either friendly fire or a zombie or hostile player that was alerted to our presence due to the actions of this stranger. It's not worth it. I don't want to be friends with you, okay? I don't want to cooperate with you. I have my squad and we're full so go away or face the consequences, eh? The real meat of the issue is that people aren't used to playing games where trust and reliability matter so much. In WoW if you get a random dungeon finder with some assholes who don't know what they're doing, big deal. You lose a bit of item durability and 45 minutes. Okay, no biggie. In DayZ so much more is on the line. Many hours, days, months of play and survival. I'm sitting on Day 48 with 1200 zombie kills and you want me to put that in the hands of any old jackanapes who pops his head up and says "friendly!"? Not a fucking chance. rocket can do all he can to support and encourage cooperation, but he can't "game design" you into human relationships. You have to find those yourself, work on them on your own and then use them in the game to your advantage.

Taking a break from DayZ
ZedsDeadBaby replied to hooligan (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Really? 'cause in your OP you said you guys played for 7-8 hours and fought over a high-value target which sounds kind of like playing to me. And fun, to boot. So you didn't get to fly your helicopter around. Bummer, I'm sure. I would be pissed too. But, such is life it's really not that big of a deal. Testing and participating in the development of the game. That's the fucking point. -
Hey Silvertrimm, Haven't heard from you in awile! I bet you're busy, so I won't take too much of your time. Just wondering what to expect from our weekly Project Quarantine update. Site up yet? Hired a concept artist for some early concepts? Is there a Kickstarter going where we might contribute? Help us out, man. We're all on the edge of our seats for your DayZ killer.

Less snipers as of wednesday..
ZedsDeadBaby replied to scoobysnacks's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Nah, they're just going to have to return to their tents to duplicate ammo more often. Once that bug is fixed, though, yeah. I would imagine you're going to start hearing less AS50 fire around Cherno. Especially if people man up and "Hide Body" on sinpers instead of looting their rifles. ;) -
We setup our own private server and have been having a blast...
ZedsDeadBaby replied to mbcb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Then finding it should not be a problem? I spend an awful lot of time reading about DayZ. I think something like this would have registered on my radar. Maybe not, granted. I might have missed it. I'll be happy to read or listen if you can find it. No, it's really not. PvP is the primary threat mechanic in the game. DayZ without PvP is just as "logical" as DayZ without zombies. Not to mention it is a completely unnecessary distraction for the team. The day they add PvE servers is the day the forums start crowding with people complaining that PvE isn't getting enough attention and the latest patch doesn't do enough for PvE and there needs to be more "end game" content for the PvE players and "favoritism" and "slap in the face" and a ton of ridiculous bullshit that they really don't need to hear. They haven't so far and until you provide this source of yours I have no reason to believe they will. None of those things were labeled as fundamental to game play? Also, pitch black darkness is certainly not gone and the only reason they aren't cracking down on servers right now is because they don't have the staff to police them and they're not going to devote resources to a system that they're about to abandon when DayZ goes stand-alone. Have your fun now, but you can bet your ass when DayZ goes stand-alone they're not going to abide all these abusive admins and ridiculous bullshit like passworded clan servers or "banned for PvP" servers. -
The design and development team don't need the distraction. It's as simple as that. They don't need to hear about how their recent change has effected PvE servers in an unintended way and how it is breaking the game for people who want to enjoy it "that way." And no matter what you say, that would happen if PvE servers were an option. Players would expect PvE servers to be properly balanced, challenging, interesting, etc., etc. and if a patch came out that had only PvP changes and tweaks, the forums would be awash with PvE players claiming favoritism and demanding attention. DayZ is a PvP game. PvP is the core threat mechanic and always will be. DayZ servers without PvP are actually less appropriate than DayZ servers without zombies. rocket said it months ago: if you don't like DayZ's focus on PvP, there are already zombie games out there for you including mods for ARMA 2 that you can go and enjoy completely free of PvP. He's not going to spend his time catering to you. Petition or no petition.

Idea to improve player co-operation
ZedsDeadBaby replied to schrapple's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Do you see the post at the top of the Suggestions forum titled "Please read BEFORE posting"? Did you read it before posting? Allow me to quote the relevant section: Before you post it PLEASE USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION at the top of the page to make sure it's original. It's not a matter of me having power over the direction of the game. It's that I have knowledge and experience enough on the forums and from reading what the designers have said about their plans for the game to know that a "no PvP safe zone" with NPCs is not going to happen. Ever. It's just not. If such an area ever exists, it will be because players created it themselves and guard it themselves with tools rocket has given them to do so. He's not going to add NPCs to the game to do your work for you. That's not DayZ. You will learn this yourself if you spend a little time on the forums and read some of what rocket has said which I highly suggest you do before posting any more suggestions. I'm really not trying to be a dick, I'm just saving you time and effort coming up with these sorts of ideas before you have a clear grasp on what DayZ is and what it is likely to become. -
We setup our own private server and have been having a blast...
ZedsDeadBaby replied to mbcb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
For the same reason they're not going to spend time setting up options for "no zombie" servers. DayZ's core threat mechanic is PvP. The balance of the game rests upon its presence. The game ceases to work as a whole experience If you remove it. Players playing the game without PvP are not experiencing it as the designers intended. It is no longer DayZ. And if you don't want to play DayZ, you should just not play it. -
Idea to improve player co-operation
ZedsDeadBaby replied to schrapple's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Just an idea to improve the forums. Search before you post, so you can find out whether or not your idea has been posted a dozen times in the last 24 hours in threads filled with plenty of explanation as to why the idea is inappropriate for DayZ and never going to happen. -
We setup our own private server and have been having a blast...
ZedsDeadBaby replied to mbcb's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I would love for you to find that source because the one I have, the DayZ FAQ basically says "No. Get off the coast or go play another game." As for the OP nobody is claiming you're ruining their experience, they're just a bit bemused that you can enjoy DayZ without its core component. Zombies, especially in their current state, are an absolute joke with more than one player. So you and your friends are basically playing a game whose core mechanics are "pick stuff up" and "drive vehicles around in order to pick stuff up." If that's honestly what you guys enjoy, and you can make it interesting long term, then more power to you. But you will forgive me if I think that says something about your appreciation of the finer points of game design. -
Steam sale broke this game.
ZedsDeadBaby replied to Judemoukari's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Murder rates and banditry rates have gone down since the Steam sale. Also the game was a top seller on Steam for well over a month before the sale even happened. So, no. None of what you said is true. Sorry to rain on your little "gamer class warfare" parade. -
Because people like you make assumptions and start calling it that before you even bother playing the game? I don't know. Anyway the vast majority of deaths are from zombies so it seems like it's at least partially about surviving zombies. And, yes, newer players die to zombies more often than veteran players. That's kind of how games are supposed to work - as you get better at them, you die less, right?

Temporary Blacklist for all Locked Servers > 0 players
ZedsDeadBaby replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
The majority of these servers have 3-10 players online, many carrying clan tags. This is clearly not a case of locking servers for technical reasons and suggesting so is disingenuous at best. If these particular admins don't want to hear about their abuses, they should probably stop abusing the system. There are plenty of false accusations that get slung around, but this isn't one of them. These admins are clearly abusing the rules. There's really no question. -
Temporary Blacklist for all Locked Servers > 0 players
ZedsDeadBaby replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
What does that have to do with anything? Just because you aren't personally exploiting doesn't justify an attitude of "let them be" when it comes to the many people who are. I seem to recall you being involved in some recent debates calling for more power to be handed to server admins. And here you are acting like it's no big deal that they flaunt the rules and exploit the system as it stands... Kind of undermines your cause a bit, don't you think? -
Temporary Blacklist for all Locked Servers > 0 players
ZedsDeadBaby replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Oh, look. A server admin completely uninterested in mass exploitation and abuse. How absolutely unsurprising. -

[1.7.2.4] Helicopters available?
ZedsDeadBaby replied to vendaar's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Vehicle spawns do not come from the server, no. They are controlled by the hive, and run on secret intervals not related to the servers themselves. -
First, fix tent and item duplication issues. Then wipe. Otherwise we're just pissing into the wind.

Tents have been wiped?
ZedsDeadBaby replied to nogert@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Nope. My tents are present and accounted for, still teeming with delicious loot. Server is most likely de-synchronized from the hive which means no tents or vehicles will appear until it is properly restarted.
