    Knocked unconscious after two punches

If true, that's pretty ideal. Two full-power punches form a grown man in the face is generally going to render the average bloke a bit sleepy.

    Barracks in Balota

Eh, no, not really. Maybe for the first few weeks, but basically by April it was point-and-shoot just like it is today. Cooperation was always rare. This is just a case of rose-colored glasses. Wait, what? Intense firefights don't happen anymore because there's too much PvP? Who else are you getting into intense firefights with? If you have really been here since the start, you would know just how much rocket hates when people bitch and moan about "Call of Duty" players ruining the game. CoD is a great game, and DayZ should be proud to attract some of its playerbase. Yes, they're different games, so congratulations on figuring that out, but acting like you're better than someone else because they enjoy CoD is asinine.

    Barracks in Balota

Oh, come on. What's "everytime?" The two times you have been there? The math is pretty simple. Servers reset every 4 hours and there's only 3 barracks so there's no way in Hell you're convincing me that "every time" you go there you find an M4.

    Just a heads up...

It's not about specific people, but rather which servers you play on. If you play on a server that has not been whitelisted, your progress will not be saved. rocket explains in this thread.

    Barracks in Balota

Doesn't really work that way unless you happen to get there shortly after a restart. I've been to these barracks a dozen times and never found more than a pair of pants. It's all about timing right now.

    VOIP global issue.

Great news; definitely one of the top issues right now. At first it seems like just an "annoyance" level bug, but the game really becomes unplayable when you have to sit and listen to Joe Schlub argue with his mom about whose turn it is to do the laundry.
  7. Says who? Where? No, but everyone is entirely capable of finding and joining one. Which is precisely where your argument falls apart. Encounters with players are only intense because, most often, they involve an attempt to KoS. If most encounters with players were nonviolent, the game would cease to have the same level of tension and drama.
  8. Right. That's why I join a group of players and then we kill everyone else on sight.
  9. It's always logical. What good are you to me? Nothing. Your presence, as a stranger, is nothing but a liability. I don't know you, I don't trust you, and I don't want you around. You are an unknown variable and therefore a threat. Removing you from the vicinity therefore makes me safer, and the most efficient way to do that is to open your skull like a rotten watermelon.

    Serious Database Issue!? "BUG"

I don't think it's possible right now. Your best bet is to favorite servers and play on those once they have been on your favorites list for a few days, as you can be reasonably assured they have been whitelisted by then. Would be nice if a "Filter" was added to the server browser to show only whitelisted servers, but I don't see that happening.
  11. I will always have reasons to shoot you if I don't know you. a) I don't trust you not to do the same to me. b. I don't want to share nearby loot with you. c) I don't want you giving up my location to your friends. d) I don't want you moving loudly or firing weapons and alerting nearby zombies. e) I take satisfaction in imagining you standing on the beach with a flashlight cursing my name.
  12. Unless rocket has changed his plans massively since last he spoke on the topic, zombies are not meant to be a greater threat than players. Other players are meant to be the greatest threat in the game. It's smart money. No matter how good the zombie AI gets, it will still be an AI - vulnerable to manipulation, behavior patterns and easily "beatable" by experienced players. Humans with human intelligence are the best AI available, and free! Which is why it makes sense to use players as the game's primary enemy. Even as zombies get more dangerous, KoS is not going to fade away. In fact, I think the opposite will happen. If alerting zombies has the potential to end my life, then the last thing I want near me is a stranger I can't trust to move safely and quietly around the zeds. I'll surround myself with trusted friends and known companions, but still generally eliminate any other players I come across.
  13. This is such a ridiculous mentality. "still ZERO PK's lifetime.... its all about choices. and i simply refuse to PK." Why is that your signature, I wonder? Could it because it's something that is worth mentioning? If everyone treated each other nicely, there would be nothing particularly special or noteworthy about your "choice" to not PK. It's only special because it's uncommon. Why would you want to change that? You're obviously proud of your choice but it's only a choice because of how the game is currently designed. If features were added to discourage KoS then choosing not to PK would just be "playing the game" and it wouldn't be special or impressive at all. Being good is only admirable if being evil is an option.
  14. Question for the DayZ team: Do you intend suggestions for improvements and changes to also go into the bug tracking site? Right now, the intent seems unclear. The site is called "feedback.dayzgame" implying the intent is to receive all kinds of feedback through the system, but much of the language and functionality implies you're only looking for bugs (e.g., fields like "Reproducibility," OS information and the link labeled "Report Issue"). If the intent is to receive feedback through the site as well, perhaps another link and a slightly modified form would help. Something like "Give Feedback" or "Provide Suggestion" and then a form which just provides for title, text body and category selection.
  15. Well, if I were going to imagine things, I would imagine a scenario in which administration of the forum is not left up to someone who would be better left spending their time writing code. ;)
  16. If you're having trouble quenching your thirst right off the bat, know that there are several pools in the woods NW of Balota airfield - relatively near the coast - that you can drink directly from or fill water bottles and canteens at.
  17. That goes against everything they have said about the Alpha release. Apart from finding bugs, the entire point of the Alpha is to allow the players to participate in the game's development. If the team new exactly what they wanted to do, when and how then they probably would have just done those things before releasing the game to the public.
  18. Interesting ideas, but you're basically describing the equivalent of skills or character classes which I don't think are really planned features for DayZ. Personally, while the idea is intriguing, I would hate to see DayZ take steps in the direction of the cookie-cutter MMO structure of certain "classes" which are required to achieve certain goals. The first time I see a post like "Guild LF First Responder to raid NWF" I'm going to pack it up and quit. There are already a lot of very tangible benefits to grouping up with other players in the game like additional inventory space, variety of weapons, extra eyeballs to watch your back, people who are naturally skilled with different types of weapons, etc. But, these are not enough to get people to randomly "group" with strangers, and I just don't see that as a major problem. Personally I don't want a game that pushes me toward playing with complete randoms. Random people are untrustworthy, often unskilled, frequently obnoxious, loud, rude, etc. The last thing I want is to be forced to drag them along through the wasteland of Chernarus because they have a particular item or skill that I "really need" to accomplish a goal.
  19. Not only does rocket disagree with you based on what he has said in the past, but he absolutely despises phrases like "cod-kiddies." Not that you necessarily need to care what rocket thinks, but it's worth noting that your views on the subject differ greatly from his.

FYI, there are trap servers that wipe your character.

Register for a login, mate. It's the site to report issues with the Alpha test. We should all have accounts there. :)

No, it's definitely not just the patch.

Here we go again ..armed players kill newspawns..

Newsflash: that's how it's supposed to be. The entire point to hunger, thirst, sickness, blood transfusions, etc. is that they push you to continue finding things, which leads to encounters with other players, which is what makes the game interesting. This isn't a Bear Grylls simulation game. Sure, you can get a knife, matches and wood and go live in the woods for a year eating roast squirrel and wiping your ass with leaves after the incessant diarrhea it gives you, but that doesn't make a very interesting game. rocket has said time and again that it's the human drama that he's after with this game, so he's going to continually find ways to make us simultaneously rely on and also fear each other.
