Right, which it's not. Obviously. Look around the forums at all the people who say they don't KoS. Do those people not exist, or are you calling them all liars? What do you mean by "fixed?" I really hope you don't actually believe that's going to happen, because you're going to be sorely disappointed. Yes, Dean wants to add more options to the game to encourage people to do things besides kill each other, and many will of course take these options, but Dean is not going to "fix" KoS and these players are always going to be around trying to murder you. Get used to it now because it's not ever going away. Ever. -

Why do you think that matters? Who gives a shit where the axe was? It takes like 1 second to take it out and start hacking away at people. If you run up to strangers, expect to die. Flag them down from afar. Introduce yourself as friendly. Approach with caution and keep your distance at all times. If you run up to me like a fucking lost puppy looking for its master, I'm going to put so many holes in you light will shine through.

I understood. It's just a stupid question. I play DayZ because I like it. I disagree there are better games for what I want to do. Killing people in DayZ is more fun than killing people in other games. Okay. What the hell is a "game meant for atmosphere?" It's not a goddamn aromatherapy candle. I'm plenty scared and excited when I play. I hate dying. It's one of the reasons I kill people so quickly when I see them, but there's always a chance they will see me first. Very scary and exciting if you ask me. I didn't miss it, it's just a stupid point. There's a lot more to it than that. -
Maybe because you try to pretend they're "totally different issues" when they're not? Makes you look disingenuous and therefore we assume you have ulterior motives. KoS is PvP. Just because it's PvP you don't like doesn't mean it's not PvP.

Must we go over this every day? Why play DayZ PvE when you can play something else? Because DayZ is awesome, that's why. What are you afraid of if not getting killed? What is your source of "fear and excitement" if players don't try to murder you? Did you also establish a completely arbitrary and goofy distinction between "deathmatching" and "banditry?" People jump on you because every one of these suggestions is exactly the same amount of bullshit. "PvP should happen, but only in the ways and for the reasons I like. Not for reasons other people like." -

Mental illness and hallucinations are a neat idea, just not as a means to punish people for killing other players. We've all been through Hell and back. We all murder humans every day. The infected are not zombies, they're people. Sick people but people nonetheless. One presumes that though the models do not exist, some of these infected are children. You're slaughtering men, women and their kids every day. Your family's gone, probably dead. Maybe you even had to kill them yourself to save your own life. You probably watched your wife eat the face off one of your children. So, yeah. If I'm crazy for shooting a couple survivors, you're crazy too. We should all be a little bit crazy. -

There's no difference between low and high end military loot in the standalone yet. So why would we be making changes to the map right now? There's no 50 calibers or NVGs. It's all just backpacks and M4s. I assume when rocket releases the final loot tables and spawn mechanics, he will take into consideration balancing the position of loot. Having this debate now, before loot spawn mechanics even exist, is goofy and pointless. -

You realize the mod had Balota military spawns, too, right? There were like 15+ military spawn points at Balota in the mod. It wasn't an issue, because they were almost always looted out and heavily camped, so people stopped going there because it was a death trap. The standalone is no different, and people will learn not to go there eventually. No reason whatsoever to take these spawn points out. -

Absolutely not. That would make the system predictable and exploitable. It functions precisely like spawning. You move randomly to one of the blue zone bump points. I'm nearly certain I've used the term "randomly" several times in this thread, but I'll double check. :) There's really only one that matters. It makes squad play basically impossible. It's hard enough to find 8-10+ spots on a server to join with my squad now; you want me to wait for those spots to open up on one specific server? Gross. No way. Other problems: server downtime means I basically have to start over or not play. Server owners now also basically own characters - if they ban or kick a player, that person loses access to their entire character. Also, what if a server owner decides to stop paying their bills or shut the server down? I lose my entire character? Gross. Further, it essentially gives people multiple characters. People could play on 10 different servers, get all geared up with weapons and food, and then when any one character dies they can just swap to another server and keep playing no penalty. Death should delete your one and only character. Maybe if there are "official" servers which have a larger map, 250+ slots and some guarantee of up-time then a one-character-per-server system would work. As it is now, it would be awful. If you want a simple solution, it has already been proposed. Just make people wait 5-10 minutes to log back in after a logout. -

Except you can't do that. It being so close to the coast means it's almost completely empty on every server and you're more likely to get killed than you are to get the "gear you need." -

Then what is it about? Balota military loot means "too much PvP" at the coast? Or something? It's ridiculous. There are no spawn points in Balota. So, no, I'm sorry. I don't see why it's bad for the game to have it be a PvP hot spot. Or why it's suddenly different than it was in the mod, when there were several military loot spawns in Balota and a ton of PvP at the airfield. -

Other than "no consequence," yes. You actually can do that. That's exactly what DayZ does. Part of the SURVIVAL aspect of the game is surviving other players who very often want to "deathmatch" you. -

Nah. That would take a ton of time and would require testing and balancing in the game to get right. It's called a concept for a reason. How would it put you any closer to that spot than if you just ran there from where you're standing? And like 100 new problems created. If you want a simple brute force solution, then put a 10 minute timer on logging in after logging out. One character per server would be a goddamn nightmare. -

In other words, it's okay for play styles to differ as long as they differ in ways and degrees that you're personally comfortable with. The most important lesson you can learn about DayZ is that you don't get to tell people what the game is about. That's their choice and if you don't like their choice you can either avoid them or kill them. You're not going to convince them all to go play different games. -

Come on dude. That's what you're going with? Given the terrain and features of the map, you honestly think a completely random teleport is going to give you a line of sight to shoot someone you've just seen? Let alone "through a window?" If you see someone, shoot them. Teleporting away to some random location is not going to give you a tactical advantage. Okay, so make them further away. Obviously. I'm not suggesting the developers use the actual fucking zones I've laid out. It's just a concept image. -

It's both. Why don't you go play Dead Rising? Or Resident Evil? Or WarZ? Or maybe, just maybe we could stop telling people who like different things about DayZ to "go play different games" because it's fucking stupid and counter-productive. Yes, DayZ has zombies, but rocket has maintained from the beginning that the primary source of threat and challenge in the game will be other players. It's a PvP military game with zombies and survival mechanics. -

Okay, except clearly the "whole community" doesn't agree with you, so it really is just about you and the people who agree with you. You're not a spokesperson for the community. No it doesn't. People who are going to KoS are going to do it no matter where they get their gear. The mod had military loot at Balota too. It was never an issue then, and it's not now. How about a link or a quote? Restraint is a form of PvP. As is force feeding. They added these things to make PvP more interesting and fun, not to "decrease" it. DayZ is a PvP game. I'm sorry if that makes you uncomfortable. They wouldn't, obviously. They wouldn't have any weapons or ammunition. Nobody would. It would all have been used up years ago. But that would make for an incredibly boring fucking game, which is why rocket isn't trying to accurately simulate an apocalypse. -

No, there's definitely not. There's like 30. No, it's really not a major issue. I've never been killed at a spawn point. In Cherno or Elektro, sure, but I don't think people are really "camping the beaches" right now. Honestly nothing. Like I said, there would be far too many spots to ever camp any one of them effectively. Okay, I did that. Now what? What does not knowing what you're doing have to do with where you choose to log out? I fail to see how this "screws" anyone. For all the reasons I stated above? I really don't even know what that means. "Satisfy my feature?" Come on. For example? -

If you can suspend disbelief long enough to accept that weapons are just lying around on the ground years after a terrible disaster, then is it really such a stretch to believe that some of those weapons might be geographically inappropriate? If you want realism, you're going to be fighting with rocks and sharpened sticks. -

You mean it accomplishes exactly the goal it was added to the game to accomplish? Why would we remove it? The whole goddamn point is to "cause lots of PvP." If you don't want lots of PvP, stay the fuck away from Balota airfield and your problems go away.
