    Loot: Mysterious and Unpredictable

Edited to add ideas for random loot events similar to the helo crashes from the mod. I think these provided some of the most fun in the mod, with the high number of armored zombies plus a huge potential to run into large squads of heavily geared players (not to mention the bevy of skull-busting firepower you could find nearby). Just the kind of incentive everyone wants to get "geared players" off the coast and away from the beachsprouts and their precious Duracells. :D

    Loot: Mysterious and Unpredictable

Here is an (obviously very rough) idea of how you could "lootmap" Chernarus, where each color represents a loot spawn frequency. Could do something like: red = 180 to 320 minutes. orange = 160 to 240 minutes. yellow = 90 to 120 minutes. green = 45 to 90 minutes. blue (default) = 30 to 60 minutes. http://i.imgur.com/jlcfTgE.jpg

Zombies should have MUCH more HP than humans

It's kind of silly to talk about how hard or easy zombies are in the game right now since there's like 10 of them per map. Let's fix zombie spawn numbers and re-spawn behavior, and then talk about how much health they should have to be challenging. I predict "much more HP than humans" will quickly lead to "much more ammo needed" or "melee weapons should do much more damage" threads.

    Wait what, seriouslsy?

If by "arguably" you mean "not at all arguably." More of a threat after they're dead? Come on. Even in the astronomically unlikely event that they somehow happen to re-spawn like 100m from where you killed them, they're still going to be barehanded and at a severe disadvantage. What's with you today? Bad mood? None of what you're posting is making any sense.

These actions will only encourage to people KOS.

It's insane to argue that combat logging is anything but an absolutely critical issue. It completely undermines every possible threat in the game. You can combat log on players or zombies, so it's not just a problem with PvP. It basically makes players invincible to everything except 1-shot kills. There's no argument to be had about whether it's a serious issue. It basically breaks the game. It really seems like you're the one harboring a frustration with the community here. It's really quite simple. You don't get to cheat just because you don't want to die in a certain way. Right, except killing you is a legitimate and intended part of the game while logging out to stay alive is cheating. There's a reason Dean is going to take it out of the game. Of course they are. How is that at all related? Why would fixing combat logging have any affect on people's desire to kill? You're honestly not making any sense mate. What was the point of this post except to take your anger out on people who shoot others? You've been around long enough to realize this is how the game works and it's not going to change. If it still makes you so angry and frustrated, why are you still here?

    Sprayed-on Logo/Emblem for teamate identification.

Spray works for military helmets, masks, or other such items. I think iron-on patches would be great for backpacks, shirts and pants. Armbands worn high on the shoulder would be great for visual identification too; just let me tear color strips from whatever clothing I find. "Ruin" the item itself, but give me 2-3 strips of cloth I can tie around my arm, ankle or even head. Squad identification is a really important tactical advantage. I hope they pursue this. The problem with just "wear uncommon stuff" is it puts a burden on the design team to ensure that equipment with a more valuable function exists in a large enough variety to not same-ify everyone. For example right now the military helmet is the "best" headwear in the game, so players are faced with the decision of being less defended, or looking like everyone else. That's not a very ineresting trade-off to present in the game. It's kind of a no-brainer. Of course you take the helmet and try to compensate with masks or better mic comms. Separating identification bits and pieces from the function of specific gear means people can always make an effort to look like each other, even if they don't have precisely the same items or load-out. I think that's important.

I really feel strongly that, at some point, beating even a dead horse should be considered animal cruelty.

What, exactly, is the point of this game?

All of the toys aren't in the sandbox yet, obviously. If you've followed the devblogs and Dean's plans for the game, you would know that things like base construction, player storage and long-term encampments are on the roadmap, and these things will absolutely allow players to create their own space in Chernarus. As for the "pvp deathmatch," you really need to come to terms with it. Every post you make on these forums is moaning about it like it's some kind of curse you have been asked to bear. If you're not happy with a heavily-PvP oriented game themed around an apocalyptic disease, then just don't play the game. Dean's not going to suddenly decide he's not into the idea and change the fundamental notion of PvP combat in DayZ. It will always be the underpinning to the other features that go into the game. Yes, you will eventually have more to do, more to build, more to gather and more zombies to kill but it's still going to fundamentally be a game in which players fight other players. You're going to be shot for your beans, shot for your car, shot for your base and shot because you have a face someone doesn't like. If I can, I'll find you and shoot you once or twice just because I know how uncomfortable it makes you.

    [suggestion] blood trails

Pretty safe to assume that in the future logging while you're bleeding will mean coming back dead. Provided the logout timer is of reasonable length and bandaging takes a bit of time, a blood trail still definitely gives you a much better chance to track someone down before they're out of your clutches.

    Wait what, seriouslsy?

This may come as a shock, but the tag line of the game is not "DayZ: Be Reasonable!"

    System to Punish KoS

Looks good on paper, but it's basically BS. What's the "high reward" for being a Bandit, exactly? More of the stuff that I already have too much of? 45 minutes in game and my inventory is full. There's no more "reward" to be had from dead people except the joy of seeing them die. As for "low risk," again. Bunk. By constantly engaging in violent action and confrontation, Bandits put themselves in constant danger of retaliation - especially when players travel in pairs and groups.
  13. Great post at first. Really good ideas and thoughts about finding ways to help people identify with and feel more attached to their characters Then it basically devolved into a very long-winded way to say "Punish bandits and reward heroes." The answer is still "No." Just because you said it in 400 words instead of 40 doesn't make it a better idea for the game to slap you on the virtual wrists for being a bad guy and slob your virtual knob for being a goody-good. Your reward for being good is good feelings, and the punishment for being bad is that people don't like your sort of folk. That's it.
  14. Maybe he didn't have a mic? Seems like you're kind of reading a bit too much into some guy basically just running past you. Christ. What do you want to do find him on Facebook and see if he's maybe feeling depressed or something?

    Geared players on the coast

Which is for some reason superior? They just meet up in the north and murder each other. I don't see what making them run for an hour first accomplishes other than reducing the number of interesting areas in the game and making everyone congregate on the one bunker at the NWAF like it's Mecca. That was the worst aspect of the mod and I would hate to see them go back in that direction.

DayZ is a government elderly training program

I gambled on a fart and now my diaper needs changing. I think that Spanish lady stole one of the pieces to my jigsaw puzzle. Help yourself to a mint, they're on the coffee table.
  17. I'm about 72% sure you were going for "biting sarcasm" but I think there was a gust of wind from the west and you ended up somewhere in "unintelligible ramblings."
  18. Right. Which should be sort of a hint that the 1st vs. 3rd person argument isn't as cut-and-dry as everyone wants you to believe. Mirror or not, if there's a 250 pound man barreling down a conjoined hallway in my direction, I ought to be able to gauge his relative position, speed, direction of travel and estimated arrival time given my powers of human perception alone. It makes no sense that I just hear ambiguous footsteps from someone who could be anywhere from 10 to 100m away and have to otherwise rely on my vision which for some reason by the way is now a fixed cone in front of my weird alien eyes. But let's not have this argument again. By the way, your posts look really odd to people who don't use a black background on the forums.

Oh My GOD! (exploding Petrol Stations)

It's ridiculous. Even if you're like 1200m away it sounds like someone banging a bass drum next to your ear. I seriously pinched like a quarter of a loaf in my pants before I realized what I was hearing. Then I squeezed out the other seventy-five percent because I was too lazy to go to the toilet. I just shook it out in the trashcan next to my desk.

PvE Server - Killed by a Human

In the DayZ mod, hackers weren't banned en masse because they had no reliable means to do so. Just because something happened in the past doesn't mean it's part of the long term plan moving forward. It was pretty clear if you followed the development of the mod that the team wanted servers to follow their rules and basically just gave up on enforcing them eventually because there were too many people breaking those rules and the team was too small to devote a lot of time to enforcement. Now that Valve and Steam are involved, and the team has some capital with which to invest in things like community managers and moderators and to work more closely (i.e., pay up) with server hosting companies, I would not be surprised at all to see them return to their desire to enforce the rules (because, you know, that's why rules exist in the first place). They have clout now. Before they were basically powerless. Now they can tell Vilayer "enforce our rules or we're not going to let you host DayZ servers." And Vilayer is going to say "Yes, sir," because they want to cash that big juicy check at the end of the month. It's one of those things that's kind of a no-brainer. If they wanted to allow private hives, why wouldn't they just do it? It's just a matter of saying "Private hives are okay." It costs them nothing to do that, so if that's what they wanted they would have. The fact that they specifically disallow private hives says, to me, that they intend to stand by that and do what they can to make sure people don't "take control" of the DayZ stand alone and redesign it with their own vision for the game. It's not a mod anymore. Server admins just pay the bills and keep the servers running. They won't get to decide how people play the game the way they did during the mod days.

I bet that KoSer was pissed off!

Here's how the story would have gone if he had been an awesome friendly instead of a despicable, game-ruining "KoSer." "Hey dude, what's up?" "Not much, just exploring. Looking for loot. You?" "Same. Need some beans?" "Nah; I'm good man, thanks." "Okay, see you later." Imagine it. You could have written a book.

    After Death .. Summary/Statistics-Idea

I think two advantages. One being if you've been alive for more than a few days, your "trail" is basically just going to be a giant scribble, and two I think the developers have already showed that they have heatmap functionality, as I think we've seen data about PvP displayed in this way.

Nah, it's from this reddit thread, which I probably should have posted in the first place.
