Hey Sapioit :) As Savedbygrace said, no NEED for a plot pole on our servers :) However you will need one to maintain - but we're a bit different to many servers in that you just need to do this ONCE every 3 weeks ;) Oh! And we're about to announce free starter packs for all new players... which includes a plot pole and some other buildables. Hope that helps!

Server is back online after a slight hiccup last night!

The AI have now moved! - The left the NWAF, and have secured Devil's Castle! Note: The AI's camp at the castle has several weapons crates, and 2 briefcases of gold - Loot it, if you can survive!

NOTE: We now have Base Building 1.2 back online!!!

Cool! Glad you had fun! Yer, the AI heli does make getting to the AI's weapons and gold stores harder :D

Maybe give Epoch a try? It has various bits and pieces, like trader towns where you can buy/sell stuff, many Epoch servers have bandit AI too (ours certainly does!), you can strip parts of cars and place on others, etc... Feel free to join our server to give it a try - most players are friendly & up for teamwork (teamwork is NEEDED to get anywhere near the NWAF, as it's over-run by bandit AI!). IP: 66.150.121.12:2302

You're welcome to give our Epoch server a go - some really sound players on there, and bandit AI to make it a challenge! As well as official servers, you should be able to do this on some community hive servers

Just to add to the spot-on explanation that BigMike gave below, DayZ 'mod' will of course continue even after the release of the DayZ Standalone, provided a community stays playing & hosting it...

If he's been doing it for weeks, fire an email to the server admin maybe? Personally I like our players to get into the game (whether hero or bandit), so on our server anyone ignoring 'do not troll' warning gets a lifetime ban, so they can go to a server that doesn't mind trolls :P Maybe if a few players complained to the admin, they'd sort it?

Note: The AI have now taken over the NWAF completely! They have set-up camp there, and have secured the area... Their camp includes several weapons and ammo crates, as well as a stash of gold hidden in one of the crates! IF you can manage to take back the NWAF, then you will be able to loot the weapons & ammo crates, and the gold! Be warned however... The AI are REALLY secured the NW airstrip, and are HARDCORE... You've been warned!

There's traders to give some endgame interest, Bandit AI (inc. Bandit heli), mainly friendly players, although we don't guarantee that bandit players won't join - but we have some really friendly and helpful guys, who are quite keen on bandit hunting... so bandits beware! Many of our players are USA based, and the server is hosted in New York. We are mainly a PvE server, however PvP is not against the rules - HOWEVER griefing in side chat, camping out on fresh spawn spots, or acting like a d!ck IS against the rules. Hi! we will be updating soon - however the guy that runs 'Reality' (which is the version of server we use) has not updated the server hive yet - so we can't update :( Some other people have made a 'sort of' 1.7.7 update for 'reality' hives, but there are lots of errors... In a day or 2, hopefully the guy that runs the reality hive (thevisad, over on opendayz) will release the proper update, and we will have 1.7.7 running :D I will post here as soon as we have 1.7.7, and will also PM you :)

I'd play on quite a few servers first, also see where they are hosted, which are fastest for you for where you live. Then start to think about what version of dayz you want - what map? Do you want rMod? (extra vehicles & weapons), any other mods (helicopter lift & tow, auto-refuel, etc). Once you have these decided upon, you can start to look around for a host. You can go with places that set-up the server for you pretty much (vanilla one, at least), - (Dayz.st are great for that) Or rent a dedicated or Virtual dedicated server, and install yourself - (nfo servers are great for that) That's my thoughts anyway :) Feel free to try our server to see what one self-installed, hosted with NFO, located in NYC is like.

I'd search for the word 'Vanilla' as it would likely return more standard servers ;)
