this was the moment my long time hero finally gained his bandit skin, it followed a near death experience at the hands of a KoS survivor who misjudged the quality of opposition after a reverse of over 16000 humanity points it was a hard won struggle ending with this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q6Pyl8Oeo8 a proud moment indeed

the only unjustifiable act in any game is cheating killing is part of the game and therefore justification is not required I for one welcome the challenge of playing on servers mainly populated by players whos sole aim is to kill everyone they see it's a large part of why I love dayz and continue to enjoy playing it

Hey Trizzo ok they've been nerfed. The first time I played it zeds aggro'd very easily and were relentless, es[ecially after gunfire, an example 4 of us ran through the post office building (the red one with 2 exits and a stairwell that leads up to a locked door) within about 10 seconds it seemed every zed in the town was piling through the doors. There followed the most intense last stand I've ever played and 2 of us died. Losing them in the forest was possible but not as easy as usual making zed avoidance a must in virtually all situations. Also they were frighteningly quick. Next time I played however it was possible to crouch walk extremely close to zeds in open terrain, even bump into them and they failed to aggro at all. Me and a mate looted across the map and maybe aggro'd 4 zeds out of the 100 or so we saw close up. So I guess it needs reworking again. ps make a vid please, I need my fix of aussie wit and 3rd person only gameplay

I played 1.8 yesterday for the first time and in my opinion it is awesome. New hurdle jump animation - much better than the combat roll reduced ammo - great addition, this will really force players to consider their actions before engaging another player. Buffed zeds - perfect, hard as hell and we loved it, running into a building when you've got 10 or more zeds on your tail is now a very risky strategy, as is firing a gun around zeds, another addition that will force players to consider their actions. Crafting - baseball bat with nails that can actually kill zeds with one or two accurate swipes, splendid. Fishing - again splendid addition, would like to see it extended to inland lakes but given the nature of the arma 2 engine maybe that isn't possible. infection - wipes, great idea, plants to craft naturally antisceptic dressings - genius Inventory UI - a massive improvement there are other things I am yet to discover no doubt and I look forward to the final version being rolled out.. Good work R4zor and co.

the dayz playerbase votes with it's feet, or rather a click of the mouse on dayz commander. If a mod or variant dies it must have less going for it than the others. Sad when you consider the fact that some poor soul/s poured hours of work into it but hey, dats consumer choice for yer. It's no different to any form of entertainment, if it's great word will spread and the masses will flock, if it sucks no one notices as it fades from memory. -

The first things medical professionals will tell you if you catch a bacterial or viral infection is - Rest, keep warm and drink plenty of fluids. With this in mind and using features and mechanics that already exist in the mod here is a way to allow players to manage the infection and prolong life. Symptoms of the infection should include... Blood loss Impaired vision Drop in core body temperature Bodily tremors Slowed movement Aches and pains Painkillers - to reduce aches and pains allowing for more normal movement Antibiotics - not just a single pill but a pill for say, every hour of game play. Packs should contain at least 3 pills. Blood transfusion - obviously replenishes any lost blood Warmth - Core body temperature must be maintained by using fires, heatpacks or by sheltering in buildings and vehicles and each has a different level of effectiveness. Hydration - Infection causes rapid dehydration so players must drink more often, boiled water should be the most effective when infected. Rest - Player should rest at a tent at regular intervals to give the body time to focus it's resources on fighting the infection. With the right balance of these actions player health, stamina and strength could be maintained for a good while, any deficit though would accelerate the effects of infection bringing death more rapidly.

who said anything about 'fixing' it??? I said reduce. and of course removing the ability to exploit the environment will reduce KoS gameplay simply by making it more risky to attempt and more difficult to pull off. edit - also I don't focus on 'the city', removing 3rd person will drastically affect pvp and KoS all over the map.

want to reduce KOS? remove 3rd person. watch the city campers flee to the woods once the ability to exploit the maze of walls, doorways, stairwells, rooftops, windows and corners disappears. also the lack of fir tree light bending will force players out in the country to think more carefully about initiating a gun fight. He will need to expose himself to even spot another player, returning real fear and tension to all combat situations and removing the light hearted comedy nature of pvp with 3rd person.

one issue that is always being raised by the community is KoS play style. Rocket talks about his anti game ethos, well there is nothing further away from that ethos than 3rd person. I think we all know that 3rd person will utterly dominate server numbers. First person will become a niche with a few dedicated servers. This is better than nowt of course but it will be a real shame if they marginalise those of us who want to play properly. -

with a stance system like Arma 3 it is now possible to peek from behind walls/rocks etc using First person without exposing too much of yourself. this could be tweaked further by adding a couple of nuanced prone stances, maybe up on elbows and another up on hands to allow safer peeking from a prone position. edit - maybe a peek feature for high walls? -
