Your best yet =) You play dayz the way it should be played dude, first person, friendly but smart and with a sense of fun. I completely share your feelings about 1.7.7. and cried when the hotfix nerfed it. I know quality trumps quantity but dude, wtf? increase dat output.

There is still so much for Nooby to discover in the mod, let alone SA, this series has the legs to keep us entertained for many, many more episodes yet =)

Get on the shooting range linked above and practise, practise, practise. Pick a gun that is common in game and master it, then move to another etc Before you do though it might be worth taking a look at your mouse settings, it really helps to have uniform sensitivity etc across all games and windows for muscle memory and general consistency, it can be a bit of a ball ache but it really helped me. There are good tutorials out there, here's a couple -

if I happen to find a tent, or am playing on a server with one i already pitched, then I might stash some stuff in case I die. I tend to place tents near to the common spawn points. Suddenly kamenka don't look so bad if i'm 500m from some basic tool belt items and a decent primary.

If I had to guess it looks to me like you edited the vid at 0:15 and switched to footage from another players perspective who runs straight to your position.
