    Does camo matter

    Camoflage is only as effective as the person using it. Colour is only a small part of the scheme. CHAPTER 2 FINDING THE ENEMY SECTION 1 DETECTION WHY THINGS ARE SEEN 1. The ability to observe effectively is an acquired skill. Things are seen because they contrast with their surroundings in one way or another. There are 11 reasons why things are seen: a. shape; b .shadow; c. silhouette; d. movement; e. spacing; f. position; g. texture; h. colour; i. scale; j. noise; and k. shine.     Most Bad-Ass Moment in DayZ?

    Handcuffing a shovel wielding maniac, taking his own machete and going full cholo. Cursing his mother as I cut his head off. Thump. Thump. Thump. That, or taking an SKS round to the chest at NWA, pinning him down on the firestation roof with sawn-off shotgun fire while my two friends flank either side. Then having them suppress him while I climb the ladder just below the tower. Knocking him out with Mosin fire, bandaging, cuffing and saline bagging him before throwing his rifle off the roof and stealing some ammo. Unfortunately he broke free while I was still there. So the last thing he ever heard was "Can't let you do that, Starfox", before two rounds of 00 took his head apart.

    Yeah, where did KoS go? I actually followed him on youtube for the lols. I think if these two ever meet in a thread the forums would implode. Also, I can confirm that the pigs are magical uniboars that save you. I was being chased about Vybor yesterday by a few zombies and had been bleeding pretty badly. I could gain a little distance, but not enough to bandage. Finally I got too desperate and stopped to bandage myself when OUT OF FUCKING NOWHERE the most majestic creature to ever grace my screen came out from behind a house at dead sprint to save me! This beautiful, hairy sausage ran straight at the zombies and distracted them long enough for me to make my escape. They then spent the next 15 minutes chasing him around the fields before I felt bad and killed them off.

    Ballistic Vest - What Should It Do?

    I totally understand the gameplay vs realism argument, but there IS somewhat of a precedent. Currently the clothes work in a layering system. I.E., you put on an orange raincoat. It's bit and puffy looking. Then you find yourself a sweet press vest, and the model changes to reflect the vest sitting on top of the coat. Likewise, the inventory screen is perfectly suited to this. Each pouch would attach like a scope on a gun (or a fishing lure on a hat), and each attachment would have x number of slots. EPIC PAINT SKILLS GO!!! Of course, the vest should be limited to a certain number of pouches, though there could be multiple types and sizes of pouch.

    Which I play on. My fear though, is that hardcore servers will cease to exist because the option to turn on 3PP is so common. In order to provide the hardcore experience which is what the deav team wants, the 3rd person camera needs serious work. Maybe when you look down it won't elevate over your head, for example.

    Ballistic Vest - What Should It Do?

    Just a thought. There are many different ways of carrying your armour. There are modular plate carriers, and there are frag vest/tactical vest combinations. http://www.cpgear.com/store/vest/canadian_flak_vest.htm This link is a civilian clone of the currently issued Canadian ballistic vest. The vest is a nylon shell containing soft kevlar armour. There are pouches on the front and back for SAPI plates, as well as a kevlar neck, and optional arm brassards/neck cuff with more armour. There is no storage at all. This is your protective layer. On top of that, you wear your tactical vest. You can wear whatever works for you, be it a chest rig or modular vest. If the user is caught in any sort of explosion the tactical vest keeps the armour in place, stopping it from being ripped off the wearer. The vests will fit over the armour.

    I'm saying the movement/gunplay is fine. Rather than rely on first round hits, compensate by firing more rounds. You have 30, why only use 2? Reread your last three blurbs if you're confused about what you wrote.

    As another player already stated, the defensive player rightly has the advantage of steady aim and no flanking in that scenario. The assaulting player has the advantage of know when he is going to pop out. Have you ever heard the term "accuracy by volume of fire"? Your first second and third shots may not be laser accurate hits, but by rounding the corner and firing until either you die, he dies or you run out of ammo, you are able to sway the odds somewhat in your favour. It seems like many players treat this game like they only need one shot to come out on top of a firefight. Most assault weapons carry 30 round magazines for a reason. There is no sense in saving 28 of those rounds for the next fight when you might not survive this one anyway. If I have an AK/M4 in this game, I try to carry a minimum of 4/5 mags on me, plus an ammo box if possible. Reason being, if I can manage to survive the initial exchange in a fight, I will usually come out on top.     Have most of the people in here got real-world experience with weapons, or are we all basing this off movies/T.V/other games/our own imaginations? I have over 9 years infantry experience and I can't hit a fucking thing past around 50m while moving at even a normal walk. The speed you have to move in order to maintain a decent sight picture is ludicrously slow. The problem is only magnified by using optical sights (see what I did there?). Even 50m is pushing it. If you somehow manage to maintain a sight picture while walking at a 50m target, the first round you fire is going to knock your aim off anyways, forcing you to re-establish it. Those videos you see of soldiers crossing open fields and firing while moving? They aren't hitting a goddamn thing. I would be very surprised if they even hit the wall the enemy was using as cover while running like that. That sort of tactic only works in real life because GUNS ARE FUCKING SCARY. I challenge you to go to a 200m range with an M16 (I use a C7A2, but same difference), throw a 3x magnification sight on there and hit a man sized target from the standing position. Your arms get tired and start to shake after 10 seconds. Your breath rocks your muzzle up and down each time. Your whole body starts to contort with the effort of keeping the weapon up. When you fire a round, the recoil rocks you back on your heels and skews your aim. The wind affects the flight of the round. If you can reliably hit at 200m standing with a rate of fire greater than say once every 5 seconds, I'll mail you a 24. The weapons are fine the way they are.

    It's possible that he was trying to penetrate through. Honestly I would have done the exact same thing. I've been playing a lot of ArmA3 lately, so my instinct would be to try and punch through. You never know.

    How about a compromise? Make the odds of finding any sort of 5.56 ammo slightly more common, but limit the amount of ammo to a random count between 1-5 loose rounds. Any magazines will be found completely empty. Besides, as anybody familiar with mag fed weapons can tell you, if you compress the spring for longer than a few weeks (leaving a full mag in your vest for months or lying on an abandoned cot for possibly years) you will lose so much pressure that you will be unable to feed rounds into the weapon.
